Xenoblade Chronicles 24

This game looks like a Xenoblade game but once you really start looking at it you can kinda see that this game was shambled together to get it out the door for the Switch. There are plenty of mechanics in this game, but so many of them feel like they were put in then somebody shoved them into the game and refused to let the designer do anything interesting with them. Then there is the map for this game. The map and waypoint system for this game is beyond useless, one of the MAIN STORY QUESTS for the game requires you to go find "dawnview grotto" which is way up on a mountain with one way up. You want to know where it is? You have to climb a tree root, then climb another tree root so narrow it doesn't look like somewhere you're actually intended to walk then you follow the one linear path up to the five items you need to collect. There is only one way to go up and it's just a crappy fetch quest. That is so much of a problem with the game, collectathon RPG but without the movement mechanics to back that sort of gameplay up. You' think you're done with this quest? NO you have to pay for this lady to fix her stove because screw you. No matter what the quest is no matter how tiny and insignificant it seems it generally feels like they plucked it out of Vanilla World of Warcraft, stretched out the distance you need to walk and stapled four or five more quests to the end there. As an RPG and especially compared to Xenoblade 1 and even Xenoblade X this game feels like I'm eating packets of unflavored bulk dry instant ramen instead of playing an RPG, because NO LADY I DON'T want to fix your goddamn stove and I shouldn't have to pay to fix YOUR stove, and this quest should have ended when i gave you everything you needed to make a pie. In case you're wondering that isn't the only sidequest that pissed me off, it was just the one that stood out the most for how crap it was.

I bought this game an in my second match the game was putting me up against people level 90+, there wasn't a single person in the game that was even on a similar level to me. Every single player had at least tens of hours into the game more than I did. I'm told this is because the game enforces a 50% win rate, so basically I was being sent into hell because the people I was playing with were doing too good and they needed a good loss to bring them back in line. Great Blizzard, just great, that's a perfect way to introduce people to your game. That doesn't mean the game isn't without positives, it looks great, it runs great, the heroes feel pretty well balanced, there aren't really any duplicates in the roster. But since there are no dedicated servers that you can run yourself that's it end of story you're stuck with the enforced 50% win rate, as opposed to interesting games or good teams or even being matched up with players of a similar skill level, nope 50% win rate.

This game is an account management nightmare. Don't even bother. I decided to try this game as a trial account, then the race I wanted to play was locked behind an expansion. So I went and bought the full game and the expansion. Now I can't upgrade my account, I contacted support and they're telling me to either delete the game off my account(yes you heard me right) which I can't do, or create an entirely NEW account. That's right folks that's how utterly backwards their trial accounts are, not even contacting support will allow me to upgrade my account.

This game feels like it came out in the 90's and the gameplay ideas came out of somebody saying "you know what would be cool!" And depending on what you're expecting that can either be a good thing or a point against it. For me personally I like it a lot, I like that the agent class can hack enemies and do stuff to them even though they're hacking a plant or a bug and it doesn't really make sense. I like that one of the tank classes is an unarmed class that heals people with chiropractic moves, all of this feels like a massive departure from your bog standard boring "warrior, rogue, mage" archetypes and not in a "we call our warriors 'agarbib' " sort of way. The writing is very 90's JRPG as well, walking around and talking to NPC's it feels like this was a remake of something from back then and I love it. To be more specific when you talk to an NPC its fairly clear that somebody somewhere had a little story for them that isn't in the game and possibly nobody will ever see, but you feel like if you talked to the developer they would know that NPC even if they only ever had one line in the entire game. That's the feeling I get from this that I think is sorely lacking in say the Etrian Oddesy series which I feel is sort of a lifeless foray into what feels too much like a graph paper dungeon. As opposed to a world that you can feel effort was put into like this.

This game is repetitive, very very very repetitive. Every time you go into a dungeon you have to go back and go through the exact same temple of the ocean king again. It never changes, ever, they don't introduce new or interesting mechanics on levels you've already been to. Its just the same thing, over, and over, and over again with forced stealth mechanics and a timer and it completely **** any enjoyment out of the game for me.

Slow, ungodly, UNBEARABLY slow. I'm wandering around talking to villagers and nothing they keep saying the same pre-recorded stuff to me. So all I'm left to do is run around and farm, that's it, wake up in the morning water plants go collect random garbage from the forest, water plants go back to bed. THAT IS LITERALLY ALL I HAVE BEEN DOING OR ABLE TO DO IN THE GAME FOR A MONTH(ingame time). The game advertises that you can customize your character but they don't really tell you that any and all kinds of clothing options and whatnot are locked until about year four. I'm being told that the tutorial is a MONTH LONG, ingame time and that's a lie, the game just doesn't let you do anything but farm for a month.

I loved Wolfenstien The New Order, I had so much fun with that game I can't even tell you it was so refreshing to see this modernization **** done so well. So after beating The New Order I decide to pick this up for more! It crashed on a loading screen silently making me wait 8 minutes watching a little spinny thing in a corner run. I was forced to alt ctrl del out of the game. You know what happened when I started it up again? the main menu stopped working entirely and none of the save slots would load and there was no exit button. I had to Alt Ctrl Del AGAIN, this time it crashed so hard that it actually took steam down with it and crashed steam AS WELL. 100% completely repeatable too, boot up game, main menu doesn't work, Alt Ctrl Del, steam crash. I tried this five times in a row. All I was looking for was Wolfenstien: more, I didn't expect innovation, a new setting or anything I just wanted more. Technically I suppose I got more, I got an intro level and one **** shootout before the game crashed so hard it broke steam. I can say literally nothing positive for this, go buy the new order instead.

It used to be good, it used to be fun, it used to have 110$ of DLC, now it has 110$ worth of DLC and p2w microtransactions. No really they don't understand whats wrong with weapon skins you have to pay for that can give you skins for weapons you don't even have and are locked behind a dlc paywall and give you a stat bonus on top of that. So you could easily spend money to find out you have to spend more money or else that money you spent in the first place has been wasted and is useless.

Avoid this game, avoid this game at all costs. it requires games for windows live to work. its a free game that requires a cd key, so to get it working you have to go to "buy" it from **** because games for windows live doesn't exist anymore and have to put in billing information to secure your 0$ purchase. This problem has been around since March 2012 and nobody(not least the developers or Microsoft) wants to fix it. so after you install the game you have to search through forums in order to make it work at all. and after all that if you bought dlc on steam you are fresh out of luck because nobody has an answer as to how to redeem that dlc. Nobody will help you with the fundamentally broken GFWL. They have your money they don't care what you think of them. I cannot comment on the game itself because after two hours of trying to get it working I've pretty much given up on any hope that it actually exists.
