As a platformer fan this was one of the most engaging ones I have ever played and all of the levels felt fair and the controls were smooth. The pixel art is also gorgeous of course with great use of color that doesn’t overwhelm me which is rare. My only complaints are the really weird difficulty spikes and the mediocre story. The story is very simple and the dialogue between characters feels pretty clunky. While the deeper trans allegory is there, the story doesn’t really dig into it that much. The characters are also surprisingly bland too…This is not too much of a deal breaker for me though, the game is not really about the story but instead the gameplay and atmosphere which is excellent. I personally didn’t struggle all that much with the main campaign but there was a noticeable imbalance when it came to difficulty spikes that made progression feel a little choppy. I’d struggle on a room for ten minutes and when I finally get through the next three or so rooms would be a cake walk done in under 5 deaths which made it feel like I was constantly starting and stopping and never really gaining momentum but not really taking a slow calculated walk through, it was weird. Once I completed the main campaign and moved on to b sides and crystal heart gathering there was an even bigger difficulty spike that felt very discouraging. Mind you, I pushed through it as I’m fine with challenge but it was a lot compared to the relative simplicity of the campaign and I can see it putting people off the game. While I complain, this is over still a great game that I would recommend to anyone who likes a good challenge. TRANS RIGHTS!!!

It was 2022. I was sick with a heavy fever and was barely holding on with nothing but my laptop, steam, and a lot of time in my hands. I was bored and search simulator on the steam store and find this game. I play it. All you do is sit and gain coins. If you sit too long you get punished. You can buy more chairs with coins that give better rewards and you can sit longer. And then you are done. I got every chair and it took 2 hours of my precious time. I thought this game was a fever dream until I saw it again in my steam library. This game is so bad, so boring, and so poorly made but it entertained me for a few hours all those years ago which must mean something.

This game is more of an experience than any normal videogame which may bore people who find a lot of talking boring. This game is a walking simulator that tells a story about art and parasocial relationships in a very compelling way that will surely make you cry by the time you reach the end. While I can’t rate it too high considering there is little replay value and no gameplay to speak of, this is a worthwhile hour long experience that will make you rethink how you experience art. Also, the story told is an allegory. Coda is not real. No spoilers but that is important to note.

As a huge fan of Hollow Knight who has waited for this game for years, this game has meet expectations and more. The exploration is fun, the boss fights are intense, and the story is well executed. This game has all of the best parts of Hollow Knight and more. If you like Hollow Knight, you’ll love this game!Little warning though, this game is much more difficult than Hollow Knight. If you are skipping to this game, you are in for a world of hurt. I highly recommend you play Hollow Knight before this game as Silksong is difficult to even the most experienced of gamers. The only real issue is that a few to many enemies do 2x damage which is a little much but as the wise Hornet once said, “Git Gud” Edit: It has now been a while since the release of this game and I wanted to give more finalized thoughts now that my hype is down. I no longer consider this game better than the first (even if it is really close) and that’s for many reasons that are hard to explain quickly. The early game difficulty in this game is kind of ridiculous but really not that bad especially after some of the patch made a while ago. I also think some aspects of the story are a little half baked which should not be the case for a game that took so long to come out. The sound track is way better than the first though and hornet moves so much better than the knight and the art is just wonderful. This is still a 10/10 for me but yeah I was a little over hyped. Please play the first game before you play silksong though or else this game might be too much.

So I’m about to have an unpopular take. This game is the most fun I’ve had in a Pokémon game in years. Sure, the bugs and graphics are unforgivable, but I can’t deny that the actual gameplay, story, and designs of the new Pokémon are amazing! Better than Sword and Shield anyway. Running around on what is essentially a dragon is fun and the picnic and sandwich stuff is fun and some of the glitches are fun alright!!! Shiny hunting is great in this game too! The game was actually pretty hard too if you chose not to cheese the game (which is admittedly far to easy to do). The gyms and titans really kicked my ass XD. The biggest issue with this game is the fact that it could have been good or even great if the poor developers were just given time. New generations come out way too quick and it makes all of the switch generation games turn out half baked. This is a console, not a ds. These graphics need to change. I’d say if this game was given even one more year to finish, it could have been great. But it will now be remembered as one of the worst Pokemon games of all time which is a shame.

This game is severely underrated and very overlooked compared to many other top notch indie games. Taking care of your cult is, while not all that complex, fun and provides some good downtime while preparing for your next crusade. The combat is serviceable and does what it has too but it can get repetitive pretty fast. This was a lot worse in earlier versions of the game but has gotten better with the introduction of relics and heavy attacks. I’m sure the upcoming DLC will work to fix this major issue and if it does I’ll update this review, Now if that was all I’d probably rate this game a 6 or a 7 but the big thing that really pulled me in was the lore. The Story itself is fine. Most will not get much out of it other than a reason to kill the bosses and a means to an end, but a lot of the world building in this game is actually fantastic and has kept me intrigued for the last two years. Now I want to avoid spoilers in this review so I won’t go into detail but I’m very excited for how the lore will get expanded upon in Woolhaven. Also the art and music are perfect for this game. I have no notes (other than the birds). Overall, 7.5/10 experience that is worth a playthrough or two!

This is my favorite game of all time so I have quite a bit to say about it but I don’t think my praise could ever express the love I have for this game. I’ve played this game for over half of my life and it’s been with me through so many ups and downs. No matter what happens in my life or how much it may ****, this game was always there for me. I will probably continue to play this amazing game until the day I’m in the grave. The amount of content is staggering. I don’t care what people may say about the updates. While this game is perfect in my eyes, it relies on intrinsic motivation more than any other game so if you want a set goal, this isn’t for you. 11/10 would recommend

This game is just very very bad. I never played the original and I could tell this was a disservice. The graphics are bad even in modern gamefreak standards and the gameplay is just so boring. Now I can’t give it a 1 or 0 because I like the Pokémon format but that is all this is, the most generic possible Pokémon game with nothing to make it stand out. Not to mention the price tag. Actual thievery. Don’t buy this game. I’m sure the original is better and cheaper and doesn’t look like ****.
