This movie is definitely a work of art. Del Toro has a great eye for visuals, but visuals mean nothing without a good story, and thankfully Pan's Labyrinth has a story that is equal parts brutally violent and magically poetic. And poetic really is the word for it. I recommend NOT trying to over-analyze this film... Just learn to appreciate it's sense of macabre poetry and you'll see the masterpiece everyone else is seeing.

Boyhood is basically a good movie, and it was made in a way that, miraculously, ended up working. But ultimately, I have to pose the question of whether or not the story presented here will hold up next to timeless classics like The Godfather, and I don't think it will. Great on a technical level and definitely worth one watch, at least, the film ultimately succumbs to pretentious posturing. Not for me.

Stupidity on an absolutely massive scale. It blows my mind just how bad this movie gets. Hopefully Jurassic World 3 is better, but I will not be holding my breath. This film gets a 3 only because of its glossy superficial entertainment value and because it looks good. The only awards that this movie should be considered for is the Darwin awards.
