I’m convinced most of the “0” ratings from people here who are just miserable and have some sort of hard on when it comes to hating Final Fantasy games. The game has some flaws for sure, it’s not too deep on the rpg side of the action rpg genre but the action is phénoménal. Realistically the combat is as complex as you want to make it which works with all levels of gamers. It’s a final fantasy game, there are lots of story elements that drive the game. If you came into this expecting less cutscenes then I presume you also walk into Pizza Hut and get disappointed when they don’t have steak and cheese subs. The story is very well done and really captivating. The side quests feel a bit MMO style to me, which is not great but they pick up towards the middle of the game and really help with world building. The game is not open world, but does a good job breaking the zones apart in a way that doesn’t feel tight, and doesn’t really reward exploration which I feel they could have done a better job at. Overall, it’s a great game with tons of fun elements that give final fantasy fans something to be excited about. I would give this game a 9/10 as a solid new installment in the final fantasy series, they continue to do what everyone loves and give us a fresh take on the series. I rated it a 10 here specifically to offset some of the miserable, insufferable people who gave “0”s to a game that was clearly developed with a lot of passion and love. One person even gave this game a 0 while rating Redfall a 10, get a life, seriously.
