Devious Dungeon 27
May 21, 2019
In short, DD2 does a real good job at giving the player a fair "arcade-like" hack'n slash game, but misses the chance of trying to innovate a bit to offer an even better experience than DD1. Everything in this new chapter feels like a copy/paste of the first title, aside from the fact that the player can now chose from 3 different characters, each with their own unique skills, moves, weapons, armors and so on. Even if the game really feels like a mobile one, that doesn't take away the plain fun you will get out of it. With 5 worlds each divided into sub-levels filled with various creatures and hidden loot, the game is just plain fun to play and you will find it difficult to put down your controller. The game is Cross-buy on PS4/PS Vita, making things even more interesting since you can get unique trophy sets for each platform. The only drawback is that Cross-save isn't supported, therefore you can't start your game on PS4 and continue it on the Vita on the go. Sure, Devious Dungeon 2 isn't stellar in any ways, but the addictive gameplay will have you playing for hours wanting to dive deeper and deeper into it. And in our honest opinion, for a price this cheap, DD2 definitely deserves a shot!

Devil Engine8
Mar 4, 2019
Simply put, Devil Engine could best be described as a "Classic 90's Shoot'em up with 2019's tight controls, whipped with a ton of extras". The core gameplay system is really good and seems to be paying tribute to classic games such as Gate of Thunder, Aero Fighters and Thunder Force. Just like those old school shmups, the player must learn and memorize enemy patterns in order to succeed. But Devil Engine is helping the player in many ways, offering extra options almost each time you play, through a cumulative score system. The more you play, the more options you unlock and that's exactly why this game is so addictive and fun. You can unlock new types of ships, new skins, new bullet types, dimming the background, changing the screen's look, new levels and much more. And the game is just plain fun and gorgeous. Mechanics are quite simple and the whole game offers a quite a good challenge while offering all the help needed to succeed via all the gameplay options unlocked run after run. And if you like late 80's/mid 90's electro-hard rock music, you're in for a real treat! the music is right down fantastic! All tracks are quite good and sound like a mix of Lords of Thunder and Soldner-X's tunes. The only small negative points we could come with were that we felt like it would have been great to get some more diversity with the weapons and that some of the bosses are just plain insane. On Hard level, some of them are just plain stupid. Even after playing the game like 30 times, we could find any tactic or pattern to go with to be able to destroy them without getting killed like 10 times in a row... All in all, Dangen Entertainment proposes a really nice and polished old school shoot'em up, one that will definitely be enjoyed by any fan of the genre for sure. We highly recommend the game.

The Station6
Feb 22, 2018
"Walking simulators" aren't for everyone, that's for sure. The Station's main story is interesting enough to keep you wanting to know more and keep pushing forward until the end. The visuals are very good, aside form some serious frame rate issues here and there. The real star of the game is probably its ambient and eerie mood, which is well supported by a rich sound environment. Compared to games such as Gone Home or Dear Esther, The Station proposes much more interactions with items and offers a few very good puzzles that helps the player getting a real feeling of actually "playing" a game instead of just "watching" or "walking" it. The length of the game is a bit deceiving, with well under 3 hours of gameplay from the start to the ending credits. Even priced at 19.99$ CND, On this point alone, it just feels like a bit of a rip-off. The Station is a great effort that will please all lovers of the genre for sure, but definitely isn't for everyone. Our best advice would be to wait until the game gets a price cut before buying it. It is a good game and one that still deserves to be given a try even if it's not perfect...

The Last Guardian8
Dec 22, 2016
10 years after the beginning of it's development, The Last Guardian succeeds in capturing the player's attention and interest, thanks to it's incredibly absorbing tale and endearing setting. The game is far from perfection and suffers the same problems that afflicted ICO and Shadow of the Colossus. By that, we mean really bad camera work and frustrating controls that are somehow unresponsive. Those problems will give you headaches and you may well end up throwing your controller in the wall at times. One of the other deceiving side to The Last Guardian is probably it's visuals that seem to be have been stuck to ICO's era. On the PS3, those would have been just fine and almost great. But on PS4, it's kind of not acceptable. Some would say that the graphics are part of the game's art direction, but I don't think so. Seems to me that the game have been in development for so long that it hasn't been built from the ground up on a new engine at all. Draw distances are bad, the scenery mostly lost in an eerie fog mostly seem to be a memory space saving technique than a wanted ambiance setting. BUT... yes, BUT! If you see past those major problems, you will find out an absolutely charming game that does one thing really good: having the ability of erasing it's flaws thanks to an absolutely absorbing gaming experience. I was really skeptic when I was playing though the first 10-20 minutes of the game. But all of a sudden, I found myself feeling involved in the characters relation and felt like it was almost impossible to put the controller down. The Last Guardian is an emotional journey, one that will touch you right to the heart. Even with clunky controls and bad camera works, we tend to forget all about those and stay focused on the game's tale. You will get that kind of love/hate duality all through the game but ultimately, you will end up enjoying and loving the game more than you hate it. By the second half of the game, you won't mind it's flaws and find yourself having one of the best gaming experiences of 2016. Well, I surprisingly did. If you liked ICO and SotC on PS3 or any other games that rely on "room-puzzle" solving and narrative settings, you will love The Last Guardian. And believe me, this game is an absolute must if you dig that kind of games. On the other hand, if you are looking for a more action packed experience, you better look elsewhere because you won't find it here. At first, I was scared of being deceived by The Last Guardian, mostly due to it's ridiculous development progress and the numerous release dates that kept on being pushed back. In the end, I ended up playing a wonderful game that had me very surprised by it's overall quality, one that succeeds on helping me forget about everything that didn't work well in the game. Quite honestly, I anticipated this game to be part of our 2016 Worst Games Top 10 and after playing through it, I can assure you that it won't. It won't make it on our Best Games of 2016 either, but it's definitely a game to give a try to.

Super Mario Maker8
Dec 2, 2016
Yes, the port of the original game has been slashed and chopped of one of it's best feature: the ability to share our creations on-line. Sure this is bad, but if you can look pass forward this big negative point, Super Mario Maker for Nintendo 3DS still is an absolute blast. It has almost everything the original had and since you can download and edit many levels that were already uploaded by Wii U's users, it still makes the game quite appealing. The level editor works pretty good and everything is easy to select and operate. Like it's big sister, the 3DS version offers almost every single tool that can be find in the Wii U's version. Passing from one to another Super Mario universe is great, although you can feel a little lag in the transition. Constructing a level can be a little demanding, mostly due to the small size of the 3DS screen. Since you can't get a very large field of view, it's not easy to construct far ahead without testing every two inches of progress you make. There's no amiibo support this time around, so it can be a downer for some players that already have some and were willing to use them in the 3DS version as well. My biggest concern with the 3DS port has nothing to do with it's absence of on-line sharing, but really with the lack of comfort you feel playing this game. Since Mario-type games are usually kind of hard, chances that you will find yourself almost tearing the 3DS apart while trying to get through some very challenging levels. On the Wii U's GamePad, it felt a little more comfortable. On 3DS, it's a real pain in the a**. All in all, Super Mario Maker for Nintendo 3DS is still a very good game, omit that you can forgive and forget the removal of it's on-line sharing abilities. Graphics are great and controls are top notch, aside the fact that the handheld is not very comfortable for that type of game where A1 reflexes are needed to succeed. Super Mario Maker for Nintendo 3DS is a great port of the original. Not a perfect one, but one that you will definitely enjoy for sure. Give it a try! It's worth it!

Assassin's Creed Syndicate9

ACS is not perfect. It's definitely better than ACU and most of the bugs encountered in the game aren't frustrating enough to pull you out of the game. I'll admit that it's repetitive and although there are a few novelties here and there, yes, ACS still feels like a copy of past titles, only with a different historical topping. The first reflex we have is to **** about the game's lack of originality in terms of play mechanics, but even if it's true, Syndicate still is a great game that brings back the fun into it. Missions are repetitive, predictable, AI is questionable, visuals not quite as good as ACU, but in the end, the game still feels great. And that is what's important when playing a video game: having fun. On that sole note, the game delivers.
