It took me a day after seeing this film to finally stop thinking about it. It's emotionally heavy (much like I Am Legend was) and will certainly impact the emotionally attached viewers. I can't get into my real complaint with this movie without a spoiler, so I will just say I personally didn't like the way they ended it. It's as suspenseful as any movie you will ever see and brilliantly acted by everyone. I too wouldn't call this a horror film, but it is certainly a suspense/thriller that belongs with the best. GO SEE THIS MOVIE!

This movie ruined the few good things this new trilogy had going for it. The only bright spots of the film were the acting on the part of Daisy Ridley and Mark Hammill. Everyone else was pretty awful. Overused clichés again, out of place dialogue, and lack of appreciation for the Star Wars universe. Its like they tried to make this a marvel movie. They didn't stay true to what the force means and is in the star wars universe. And they decided to throw the plot into total chaos for the last film. Its hard to give thorough criticisms of this film without spoilers, but the biggest problems were in the writing and the plot. It was not well done at all. I thought the prequel movies were well written but suffered from bad acting, effects, and setting art. This film cant even hang its hat on being well written. Most disappointing movie I've seen in recent memory. I would tell you don't go see it but I know you will because its star wars. Just don't go in with high expectations.

If you enjoy most Marvel movies, then you should find this movie entertaining and worth your money. If you're like me and generally believe every super hero movie is a failure except the Dark Knight trilogy, then don't see this movie. Like all super hero movies nowadays, it features a new villain that is hell-bent on taking over the universe, while recycling older side characters from previous films in the Marvel universe to aid the protagonist. Some of the cameos in the film (both by actors and characters) are quite nice and funny, others are awkward (as performances). Also, the whole act where the super hero acts like he doesn't really care and just jokes around is getting a bit overplayed, and when done in this movie it made me cringe on several different occasions. The movie featured some humorous moments that I thought were well done, but they don't make up for the overused plot, average acting, and underwhelming effects (the effects were what I was most disappointed in). Overall it wasn't worth the money to me.

Dunkirk is the war movie equivalent of the Revenant. The film's effects, acting, and action were outstanding in every way. It has you at the edge of your seat throughout the whole thing. However there are some real knocks that can be made. The movie can be confusing at times, as there are three different small stories going on over the course of the same week, but for different amounts of time and different areas. These stories all overlap at a certain point, but it can be confusing as to what is going on at some points. There was also very little narrative in the movie. It was 'get off the beach or die' and the lack of dialogue made this even more obvious. Like I said, an odd but reasonable comparison would be PG-13 WW2 edition of the Revenant. It was very bleak and grueling, adding to realism, but it had less of a narrative even than the Revenant. You never really see any actual ****, and they are repeatedly referred to as 'the enemy' which makes them seem more distant and less relevant. It may sound like I'm harping on the movie a lot, but its just that there are many points of criticism. Where the movie excels, it is top of the line, but it struggles to develop a real narrative to make it a classic. It would be like titanic without the storyline. While I said the acting was good, there was nothing that really made you care about the characters. It felt as though these two soldiers were chosen at random to be the focal points of the story. Overall it is probably worth the see just because it is entertaining and very well done, but you may walk out a little underwhelmed.

IT is one of the best horror films I have ever seen. It was filled with scares, hysterical comedy, and a level of emotion that I was not expecting. Parts of the movie were actually downright sad. I am very critical of horror movies, as I often times feel as though they lack good storylines and characters. The cast of this movie was outstanding. Of course, the big draw is Bill Skarsgard as Pennywise. I'm someone who was neither a fan of the miniseries nor a fan of Tim Curry's clown. I never once found Curry's clown scary (Could be just me). This clown is terrifying. Many criticize the film for 'jump scares' but I thought the horror aspects of the film were much more than that. You actually fear the clown, because in a way he's unpredictable. Sometimes he'll just be off to the side and you'll just see him, and other times he will attack. So to some up the positives: its a high quality story that combines the individual struggles of the kids with the greater effort to combat IT, that features outstanding acting by about everyone. It is truly terrifying, the only comparison I can make in terms of scariness is when I saw Alien for the first time. It is far more emotional than I would've imagined. You truly feel for the kids. Now there are few areas I can really knock this film. For one, the CGI wasn't very well done in some scenes. Also, I was not a fan of the dumb decisions made by the kids in this movie. It felt like the scary moments were forced by really dumb decisions that no normal person would make. How hard is it to not stand outside the creepy rundown house, or to not follow a trail into a scary dark room? Another very small criticism was the lone scene with Bill's dad. I was not impressed by the acting job there, but that's small and irrelevant in the grand scheme of things. Overall, I highly recommend you see this film, as we almost never get horror films this well done.

Yes it is entertaining. It has humor, it has the classic ridiculous Jack Sparrow action scenes. Aside from that, it is horrible. The story is incredibly sloppy, unimaginative, and ridiculous (there is a scene reminiscent of the last action scene from Fast Five, only replace the cars with a carriage, and the vault with a large house). The whole idea of the enemy crew being dead is a bit overplayed at this point, as I'm pretty sure they've been that way in every Pirates movie. This crew is forgettable to say the least. I think the movie overall was poorly made, and doesn't deserve the favorable user reviews it is getting. If a funny, over the top action film with a terrible story, mediocre acting, and sloppy writing is your thing, then this movie is for you.

Alien: Covenant was a little better than Prometheus just because it wasn't as difficult to watch (no live abortion scenes that make you want to puke). Other than that, it wasn't very good by any means. The acting, while not corny, was not memorable for any of the characters other than Danny McBride successfully escaping his stereotypical comedy role. The story was incredibly sloppy and relied on characters that were nowhere near qualified for the task they set out to do, and therefore made very poor leadership decisions allowing for things to go south for the crew and force the plot to unfold as it does. While not quite as graphic as Prometheus in my opinion, it is still incredibly gruesome, almost at a level that is off-putting (like Prometheus), however I know some people like that so that did not influence my rating. The CGI aliens at times looked very good, then at times looked very fake. I would expect that in this day and age that would be the one thing a large budget film such as this would get right. If you loved Prometheus then you'll probably enjoy this film, however if you are more of a fan of the original series like me, this movie doesn't hold a candle.

Its one of the best films I've ever seen. Funny, incredible story, great acting, good action, and everything in between, I don't know how people can give this movie negative ratings. If a film with Leonardo DiCaprio, Matt Damon, Mark Wahlberg, Jack Nicholson, Alec Baldwin, and Martin Sheen doesn't get you excited then I don't know what will. All of them deliver in this movie with great performances, but of course Nicholson steals the show. No corny lines that make you cringe. Very funny movie, although the humor can be a little twisted at times. And most of all the story is out of this world. Full of twists and turns throughout that make it incredibly thrilling all the way to the last scene. You have to see this film!

I'm giving it a 5 because it was entertaining for the most part. Plenty of humor, and some fun characters. However, the movie suffered from the problems that plague other Marvel movies. It had over the top plots, sloppy storytelling, and really corny moments in it. It reminded me of some of the Pirates of the Caribbean movies in how there was a lot of side flipping amongst other characters between friend and foe, and oftentimes it wasn't very well reasoned. The whole plot was a bit ridiculous (you'll have to see it to know what I'm talking about). Of course this movie incorporates the same corny lines and dialogue as every other marvel movie, and even takes it further than most in my opinion. Fortunately they did not overdo the Baby Groot thing. I would recommend seeing it because it is entertaining, but don't expect a great story or a very interesting plot. Expect a funny, action packed movie with corny one liners and forced moments.

I had pretty low expectations for this movie but my friends continued to urge me to see it, saying it is better than Saving Private Ryan and Lone Survivor. While to me it wasn't really that close to those two movies, it was overall an enjoyable film well worth the watch. The acting is corny and makes me cringe. This is probably the worst part about the film. Andrew Garfield's attempt at a backwoods Appalachian accent is like trying to watch Fallon do a Trump impression (you may think he does a good job, if so you'll probably think more highly of this film than I do). Vince Vaughn makes a funny sergeant but at times doesn't do a good job of really selling the part. Most of the characters give off corny one liners all the time, and whether it be due to writing or plain acting, I thought it was pretty poor. The story was very good. While much of the first half of the movie focuses on Doss' home life, love life, and then boot camp, it keeps you entertained the whole way. The second half of the movie I found to be quite entertaining and actually surprised me with its elements of realism in terms of combat. It's certainly up there with Saving Private Ryan in terms of gruesomeness (which is expected from a WWII film) and overall war depiction. The movie actually somewhat inspired me. While it did not live up to my friends' rave reviews, I did think it was certainly worth the watch, if nothing else than just to learn the story. Definitely go see it!

Don't go into this movie expecting a great story, great acting, or really anything great other than the effects. It is fun to go and see in 3D, but to me it is another below average film pumped out by Hollywood. If you are looking for a great Kong film, I would definitely recommend the Peter Jackson version, as the creatures, acting, and story are all superior to this new version. I'd only recommend you see it if you do so in 3D or IMAX.

I'm not sure if it was just overhyped or if it was because the movie was attempting to lay the groundwork for the trilogy, but I was underwhelmed after seeing this film. The acting was mediocre at best. While Daisy Ridley did a great job of being a good fighter in the film, the intimate or emotional scenes were cringe worthy to say the least. I thought that John Boyega, while funny, almost seemed out of place throughout the film. I don't think this was necessarily his fault as it may have been the writing, but his character just didn't act like a Star Wars character. He acted almost just like a normal person you'd run into anywhere. There were far too many cliché moments in this movie. It has a nearly identical plot with 'A New Hope' only this time the planet killing space object is bigger and badder. Kylo Ren was fantastic, until he took off his mask. After that it seemed whenever he spoke he was struggling not to cry. The movie does contain a good twist near the end. However, the final duel is a bit ridiculous to me, as Rey has no experience fighting nor using the force and yet is able to hold her own in a fight with a sith. To me it just seemed absurd. I was disappointed in the movie overall, and I hope the next movies are better. Should you see it? Of course you should, its Star Wars. Just don't spend a lot of money or miss something important to watch it.

I don't understand why this movie is receiving hate and such mediocre reviews. I found it to be incredibly gripping, suspenseful, and utterly thrilling for its entirety. The story isn't anything special but its a horror film so that comes with the territory. None of the great horror films have a jaw dropping, Shawshank Redemption level story, so ignore those criticisms. I really appreciated the fact that there were no stupid movie character mistakes in this film, which seem all too common in the horror genre. As mentioned above, the movie keeps you hooked from beginning to end which I think is the most important thing for a horror movie. The movie doesn't give an obvious main character, making nobody safe. The way they went about ending the movie I think is classic (You'll have to go see it to know what I mean). The acting is excellent in this movie. Not a single one of them fails to deliver a great performance. They know how to act scared and distressed. During the scene in the trailer when the alien grabs the doctor's hand, his reaction is superb. The only criticism I can levy in terms of acting is at times the accents didn't seem that great, but that's a small thing. The best part of the movie is the originality of the creature. I give this crew a lot of credit for putting serious effort into creating a believable monster (they hired scientists to help design the thing) that doesn't disappoint. Watching the alien grow and evolve throughout the film is spectacular, and I personally found it to be the most believable alien lifeform I've ever seen in a movie. So while the movie does borrow a similar plot from the original Alien movie, I think it deserves credit for having an original, terrifying monster, fantastic acting, a beautiful setting that I haven't seen in a horror film before (the fact that its in zero gravity), and just the right amount of violence that doesn't just gross you out the way Prometheus did. All that being said, its a fantastic movie that i'd recommend to everyone!

This is easily one of the greatest films of all time. The acting is superb, Morgan Freeman narrates so ill let you figure that out, and the story itself is immaculate. It leaves you speechless at the end and feeling good when you walk away. It is a shame that you can only truly see it once.

I will say I personally loved the movie. But that is largely in part because I love movies about law. As a movie it has great acting, and a great story. However it never really surprises you with anything, as the case goes along with no real large twists or turns and the verdict is what everyone thought it would be. It is very emotional and in my opinion worth the watch.

The Revenant is one of the most realistic movies ever produced. It is incredibly gripping, full of beautiful shots, and very dark with outstanding performances by Leo, Tom Hardy, and the rest of the crew. It must be understood however that those looking for a 1800s action thriller will be disappointed as it is simply not that kind of movie, nor was it meant to be. This is simply a story of redemption and revenge, and survival against all odds, and while it has action the majority of the movie consists of Leo walking around just breathing between the action scenes. It is a very slow paced movie, which adds to the realism in many ways and allows for awe inspiring shots of the landscape. The fight scenes are incredibly realistic and refreshing as it is no longer simply a bunch of choreographed punches and well timed hits like all Hollywood films, but rather all out brawls that look unorganized and lifelike. The only faults I give it are that the movie doesn't have a consistent pace, as in the beginning we couldn't miss a character blink and the final 10-15 minutes cover like a 1-2 day period. Also at times there are scenes that are too long and unimportant. You'll spend 3 minutes watching Leo slowly ascend a hill just to see bison run around on a plain. Despite these flaws the Revenant is a movie definitely worth the watch, and rightfully delivered Leo is first Oscar award for best lead actor

10 Cloverfield Lane may be the most suspenseful movie I have ever seen. John Goodman did an outstanding job in playing a truly unpredictable character that makes those watching question him the whole way. Mary Elizabeth Winstead did a great job in her role as well while bringing a little humor to the screen. The movie is truly remarkable, however I found the end to be rushed and a little underwhelming when you finally learn what happened on the surface. Overall it is definitely worth the money!
