I'll round down from an 8.5. The team work based approach is great and the customization is fantastic. The parkour aspects really give fluidity to the game, Run, slide past an enemy and shotgun to the face at point blank. Its great. My only criticism is that I'd like a death match gamemode and more maps, but SD has always released modding tools in the traditional bethedsa way, and there's a DLC option available, so I expect to see maps soon. This is a game of fluidity and team work. CoD approaches won't work. TF2 approaches won't work either. You need to adapt to the ever changing environment. I recommend getting this game. You will like it unless you are too head strong and can't stand cooperating with your team mates

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion9

Peanut butter by itself is delicious, but when you combine it with stuff like nutella, it becomes amazing. So it is with Oblivion and its mods. Oblivion is currently 5 years old and has TWENTY TWO THOUSAND mods on tesnexus alone. Literally anything you want oblivion to be, it can be. It is a great game, but can become bland by itself, but not until you've run through the main quest and become the head of all the guilds, but the real allure is the open ended gameplay and the mods. I recommend playing the vanilla game first, ie unmodded, and then adding in tweaks. You'll go from a great game to a new world as you add new elements to get deeper into the game. I have been coming back to this game for 5 years and I will only stop playing for the same reason I stopped playing its predecessor, Morrowind, because the next iteration has come out and its mods are even better! Bethesda is a hell **** company and their RPG's are bar none the best RPG's ever made due to the fact that you can make the game whatever you want it to be. Don't buy it on console, you'd be cheating yourself, come to the dark side of modding and you will never look back. The only downside to Oblivion is that its not quite as vivid as Morrowind was as it was made a tad more mainstream and simplified to release as one of the first 360 games, but on PC you won't have that issue. Disclaimer- I am not responsible for your becoming a TES addict.

The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind9

Alright, this game is old and was my first "real" game when I played it back on the xbox. However, get it for PC because thats where it shines. You need mods for this thing now and its what makes the game unique. The Elder Scrolls games are brilliant. I've got this game installed now and there are still mods being made for it. I recommend checking TesNexus for mods, the obvious requirements are a few graphics mods (try Qarl's if you can run it, it will make the game look near modern) and a combat mod (the combat was outdated...). If you can get past those nicks, you get into a very deep world where you can be whatever you want to be. I can't recommend this highly enough. It's also got a very nice nostalgia factor. You can get it for pc with the expansions for 20 bucks tops. The fact that its still be offered in stores is a testament to its longevity and underscores a brilliant game. Morrowind has been hailed as one of the best PC games ever made for its open ended approach and great story and environment. Grab it, some mods, a bottle of sujamma, and say goodbye to your friends for a while.

The Sims Medieval5

I'm sorry, but this game is just not engaging when you get past the first level. The real issue for me is just the lack of depth that previous sims games had. The inability to build houses or whatnot really detracts from what could have been good game play. The focus on quests is nice, but unfortunately means that you spend a lot of time just going from point a to point b and then you end up not really having accomplished much. There is not real attachment to your characters as you are constantly switching between em for different quests. I applaud the game's attempts, but sadly it doesn't get there. I recommend if you need some mindless entertainment, but this doesn't hold my interest and is not worth 50 dollars anyway you cut it. Wait till it drops.

You can pick this game up for a song on steam, I paid 7 bucks and it was definitely worth it. Where to start? It is a good game that is for sure. The issues it may have had have been pretty well dealt with by now and graphics aren't absolutely amazing, but that doesn't mean you won't like it. There is linear track to the game, but you get to choose how you play it and how it ends. You can gather allies and enemies by your actions and change the course of the game. Even the pieces of intel you buy will have an effect on the game's end. Its compelling and the plot is quite good with more twists than you could imagine. There are a few that you might expect, but there are plenty more. The characters are dynamic and interesting as well. There is freedom in how you tackle the game and that is nice. I played as a stealth character and thoroughly enjoyed it. Coupled with the plot's replay value, there is plenty of incentive to play the game again. There are many moral choices to face and not all of them are easy, especially as the game forces you to choose quickly which actually made it more intense than parts of Mass Effect 2 where I sat there and deliberated a decision. The save system is a tad annoying, but you get used to it after a bit. Anyway, get this game, especially since its not priced very high. Its just a pity that a sequel has been ruled out. To quote Thorton "then it would just be beta or gamma protocol" and that would be fine with me

Fable III9

Fable 3 is a great game, there is no doubt about it. It surpasses the first and second easily. The interesting thing is that there are difficult moral decisions to make (but the producers make sure that you can be a completely benevolent person if you desire). That said, there is freedom to do whatever you want as a ruler. Child labor? Sure. Leave citizens to die in the desert? Sure. The beauty here is the freedom. The characters are deep and engaging and the story is quite good, the antagonists are thoroughly despicable and you feel an urge to deal with them. Another cool thing is that your personal behavior doesn't dictate how you are as a ruler. If you have enough gold, you can bankroll everything out of your own pocket (though I wish you didn't get morality deductions from taking cash out if I paid all out of pocket...) The game is great but I have a few qualms. I wish that that there were a set of global sliders to set all rent or all prices at once. Other than that, the GUI is nice and made much more of a difference than i thought it would. The combat is fluid and cool, you can have any combination of magic, melee, and ranged. I had 30 melee kills and something like 1500 ranged kills at the end. You are given the freedom to develop the character the way you want. I recommend that you get this game, I just finished playing through and I want to play as an evil character now, but part of me doesn't want to deal with the grim decisions I would make. I actually felt obligated to repay those that helped me out. The game could be a littler longer, but there are plenty of side quests. A good game to rent or buy depending on how much you like the genre.
