Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3 Portable
10
User ScoreKalanYamato
Aug 7, 2014
August 2014 Edit: I've finished this game and I'm already near the end of the female campaign. At this point, Persona 3 Portable stands as the best RPG I've so far played on the PSP. The story remains incredible and combat with end-game Personas is a lot of fun. Still way better than Persona 4 and The Answer. Original July 2014 review (was a 9/10): You can study for exams in this game. 10/10 On a serious note, Persona 3 Portable isn't your common RPG - blending the visual novel and RPG genres with hard fantasy is one hell of a mix and makes for an excellent and exciting story, complimented by a balanced and addicting battle system. I'm sure the home console version is better in some aspects - but if you're a fan of this series and/or you need an excuse to play your PSP, this game is the best one you can find right now. Being the **** I am for a good story, I fell in love (no pun intended) with this game quickly. One problem I've found, however, is that the introduction is extremely slow - on par with games like Kingdom Hearts 2, but not as confusing; just long as hell without necessity.

One of the greatest games I've ever played and very close to being the best N64 game of all time. Replayability is practically endless and the game's challenging and varies enough for you to want to keep playing.

An excellent action game that offers a ton of fun even in the beginning of the game (considering super-hero games with RPG elements tend to not be so enjoyable in early game). The story and it's presentation are not that good, though, right from the start it's confusing. Overall, it has amazing gameplay that offers a great challenge but a sub-par storyline, it could be so much better. Worth the 12€ on PS Store.

A very intense and fun game. Coming from someone who didn't enjoy the old Jams that much, this one really shined for me: the gameplay feels more fluent and not excessively fast, it has a nice career mode, has a ton of unlockable stuff, alot of settings you can change to spice up the gameplay, the dunks are borderline amazing, etc. My only complaints are that online can be a bit laggy (although it seems to dissipate over time, very quickly), shoving locks you in place, I haven't found any Juice mode and there aren't any injury ratings, but that's just about it. This is pure high-octane arcade action, a must-buy for the PS3.

LOL, I couldn't play this game in local multiplayer because I had a wired PS2 controller connected as Player 2 instead of a freaking Wireless PS3 controller. No, seriously, that's EXACTLY what it said, something along the lines of "You can't play with a wired controller!" What a joke. Good thing the game was borrowed from the same friend who tried to play on my system. The rest of the game is not that bad but this just killed it for me. Also, online passes? Really? That was the nail in the coffin. 0/0

Guys guys guys THIS GAME IS NOT OPTIMIZED. Runs quite badly on a HD6850 and an AMD Athlon II X2 255 3.0 GHz Dual-Core and 4 GB of RAM and in some crappy laptop of a friend that can barely run TF2 it runs great. Unbelievable.

With a game so broken and pitifully unchallenging, I uninstalled it as fast as I installed it. By the way, this game only uses a single core (so your other one or three or nine hundred don't go to use, making the game lag severely and making alt+tabbing impossible without crashing) and has alot more technical problems than just that.

Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit
2
User ScoreKalanYamato
Mar 21, 2013
An absolute insult to the Need for Speed franchise, as this entry holds NOTHING that made the original Hot Pursuits so great. First off, the handling system is beyond broken: it's delayed as hell and you're forced to drift even in the slightest corners it tries so hard, but oh so hard to be NFS4:HS and fails miserably. The tracks are insanely shallow, they're all sprints (no circuits afaik) there's practically no challenge aside from a few corners that even a five year old could drive around and you're going so fast, with a graphics engine so awful that you just cannot see what the hell's ahead and you're just bound to slam into a wall because of the garbage steering which every car seems to have (to tell you the truth, the only difference between certain cars are the abuse they can take and their speed, nothing more). The inclusion of weapons is also another thing I don't understand okay sure, HP2 also had weapons, but they weren't nearly as ridiculous. First of all, racers shouldn't have weaponry, and they sure as hell shouldn't have EMP cannons and Spike Strips. That's just dumb and a VERY pitiful excuse for "game balance". The roadblocks are pointless since they all have an opening which is stupid. The Spike Strips in this game are ungodly annoying aswell, they activate immediately which makes split-streaming other racers/cops practically impossible. Not only that, whenever you're hit by one of these weapons or god forbid, hit a wall or get TAKEN DOWN (LOL BURNOUT CTRL+C CTRL+V) you have to watch an annoying as heck screen of the likes of "SPIKED!" or "CRASHED!" and then just speed away as if nothing happened apart from losing a bit of health. Yeah, ok. That's exactly how I expected a Hot Pursuit game to work: to bust racers, you have to take them down a ton of times until they're finally arrested. No, sorry, this is not how a NFS game should work. If I wanted to play Road Rage online, I'd go play Burnout 3 or something. This game is the ultimate proof that by this time EA was just cashing in on "new" games by just rehashing and fusing old concepts into a mish-mash that cries out for the apocalypse; an absolute disaster, you can see the exact same thing happening on Most Wanted 2012, that game is a copypaste of Burnout Paradise. The superb fun that was the Hot Pursuit game mode in NFS4 and Hot Pursuit 2 in... NFS Hot Pursuit 2 was completely ruined by this game, and it only set a bar for the worse which were the future EA titles. Also, did I mention that this doesn't have split-screen either? Wait, the insanity doesn't stop there: it takes as long as it takes to load a new race as it does to RESTARTING A RACE. So, you screwed up? Oh, no problem, we'll just make you WAIT HALF A MINUTE FOR THE WHOLE THING TO LOAD. And another thing, you don't even get to "start" the race, the game just drops you with the race already a bit in progress, followed by a nearly-unskippable cutscene (it has an option to skip it but you'll in fact just skip like 2 or 3 seconds of it). I agree, it's nitpicking but it's these little details that make the game so much more frustrating than it should be. There's also an incredibly shallow free roam mode which blatantly looks unfinished. You can't do anything in it aside from driving and accessing the pause menu. What a joke.

This game is like freaking crack cocaine. Hell, worse than that. It's so god damn addicting it's ridiculous. It's multiplayer just makes matters worse. In less than a week I've clocked 25 hours, and that's only because I could control myself and take breaks every now and then. DO NOT play if you have something else to do.

Coming from someone who found ETS1 to be quite boring, ETS2 manages to be alot more fun than it's predecessor. Driving feels great and it's alot easier to pick up and play. It's presentation is very good and the graphics are quite well done aswell. My only complaint is that Portugal and Spain are, unfortunately, missing. Solid game overall, I recommend it to anyone who likes to drive (in videogames at least).

Basically it's Budokai Tenkaichi 3 with tag teams, senzu beans and a few less characters. Dragon Walker, it's story mode, is a huge improvement over the BT3 campaign, since it follows the anime's story more closely, the dialogue is way better and features some entertaining sidequests and "What if..." scenarios. Excellent game overall. The only things that bug me are that the AI on Normal is far too easy and Broly is one overpowered SOB. Oh, and you have to unlock Fusions.

Hellbender

A vastly underrated game. It's not exactly the best space shooter, but definitely not the worst. Hellbender is the sequel to Fury^3, and are both very similar in gameplay and presentation. Hellbender features a more in-depth story of the Human-Bion war, a basic ship energy (NOT hitpoints) micromanagement (the power of your weapons is no longer dependent on how much ammo you have for it), some new weapons, and somewhat improved graphics. Tunnels now have a much bigger importance, some of them are authentic mazes, but thank god for the conveniently installed underground map system in your ship, eh? It's an enjoyable experience with a decent story to back it up. Check it out.
