This movie is so criminally overhated, its far from perfect but its pretty good, first of the duel of fates, as well as the characters of Obi-wan, Darth Maul, and most of all Qui-gon are so cool in this movie, they are a little underused, which is sad, but its understandable why they do that, Anakin's upbringing and backstory was ultimately very neccesary, and sets up the rest of the story alright at least, I ultimately also don't mind Jar-Jar, but I understand the position of people who don't like him, overall though I do think the film does a great job of setting up what the galactic republic and Jedi functioned like, and the way they do it ultimately makes the rest of the trilogy better due to how well they established this

Its alright, kinda overhated, Anakin and Padme scenes are kinda bad, but Obi-wans quest was pretty cool, and the battle of Genosis is so cool, the CGI has some problems though, but they did Yoda's CGI really well

It makes a thrilling movie without dipping way too far into gore, it is a patriotic movie, where the characters are awesome and loveable, the plot sometimes seems just out of place, its hard to explain, but overall its a great movie

This so called 'film' takes the beloved first 6 films of the star wars franchise, and throws it in the garbage, not only do they bring back palpatine, which destroys all canon and world building, which they don't explain, the plot of them going on a galaxy wide scavenger hunt that ultimately has no influence on the plot in the end is so enherintly stupid, that I'm convinced my dog could write a more interesting plot

iconic moments, great characters, this movie does everything right, Luke gets the beat down he needs to give the best character development, this movie is what makes him the example of the hero's journey

Amazing story that has an amazing feel, it is just a true classic, its world building is incredible to start a beloved franchise

People hate on this just because its part of the sequels, I'm no defender of this movie, it has its flaws, but it isn't nearly as bad as the 2 movies after, it was good for the start of a trilogy, it did at least an alright job of introducing and setting up the characters, people like Finn and Kylo would leave a viewer excited about their character development in the next 2 movies, which they then biffed, but ultimately Kylo Ren looked badass, and Finn was also alright, the visuals look great, the duel looked cool, the plot holes were evident within the duel but its still ok. it ultimately had plot holes overall, but didn't break the plot, it was stuff that could have been explained later (example: Maz didn't explain how she got Luke/Anakin's lightsaber), but its an acceptable movie overall.

Great movie, sets up a new hope very well, great duels, emotional moments, and and overall great wrap up to the prequels in the best way possible, the lightsaber duels are the most legendary we will ever see from this franchise
