Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader9
Mar 7, 2026
Overall, a very fun and engaging cRPG with deep mechanics that did not feel as overwhelming as the Pathfinder series. The turn-based combat felt good, particularly once the character builds started kicking off. The main plot and side-stories felt well-thought-out and connected. The companions were good (I spent more than a little time agonising over dialogue choices due to investment). The Void Shadows DLC was great, while the Lex Imperialis DLC was fine. Honestly, the only bad things worth mentioning are the numerous bugs plaguing the Lex Imperialis DLC (audio files not playing, visual glitches, crash to desktop etc.) and some minor bugs in the main game (stuck on 100% loading screen, audio echo/muffling etc.) which required cleaning out the cache. But yeah, all in all, solid game.

Wasteland 38
Jul 14, 2024
Even not having played any of the previous instalments in the series, I can still safely say Wasteland 3 is a great game in the turn-based, cell-to-cell movement genre. The story can come off as convoluted initially, but its easy to pick up and go along. The gameplay is fun. The characters are interesting and well fleshed out. The score is out of this world. Worldbuilding is grand. Honestly, it scratched the itch X-Com had left marvellously.

Nine Sols8
Jul 10, 2024
"Nine Sols is to Sekiro what Hollow Knight is to Dark Souls" and I can't say I disagree. Took 30h to beat with getting the True Ending and collecting all the chests, which was quite frustrating at times (especially some bosses), but still feels like a rewarding experience. Would give it a 7.5 if I could but since that's not an option rounding to a weak 8.

A good side scrollers with exploration, combat, simple story and funny characters. The gameplay is responsive, making the primary gameplay loop fun. New ability unlocks are integrated well, making backtracking and exploration rewarding and fun. The game itself is a short and sweet experience, neither overstaying its welcome nor leaving before feeling fulfilled. Overall, great game.

Fun rougelite that is challenging, but not as rewarding as others in its genre. Perhaps I'm just not good enough to beat it on the recommended difficulty. Has the issue of RNG making or breaking a run, and often times getting one-shot by an enemy that's only just entered the screen. Fun, overall, but can be frustrating.

Devil May Cry6
Nov 26, 2023
While certainly an impressive title for its time, the game still suffers from the same issues that I recall bothering me as a child. The camera angles are horrifically annoying, the voice acting and characters are an almost "campy" sort of bad but just don't reach level of irony to elevate them past plain "uninteresting" and the combat is a chore when trying to rack up long combos (in no small part due to the dreadful camera angles switching and swapping nonstop). Overall, however, I still had fun with it, especially once you learn to live with the game's shortcomings.

Gothic7
Nov 19, 2023
An excellent game by 2001 standards that still stands the test of time, albeit with an acceptable level of jank. The beginning of Gothic 1 is its weakest point, especially going in blind. The controls aren't very intuitive, the combat felt laborious and movement awkward. However, once you get used to the ye olde controle scheme, level up and get better gear, it immediately shoots up to actually being fun. The characters, story and dialogue are really bad at times, but it lends the game a feeling of camp rather than laziness, so its easy ignore. Overall, a surprisingly pleasant experience, especially for someone who played it 22 years after the original release.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order6
Nov 2, 2023
Half decent melee focused game up that comes of as frustratingly clunky and uninspired initially but builds up speed as it goes along. The first two thirds of the game are barely bearable in all aspects, from combat, to exploration, to characters, to story. However, as you level up your character and unlock more skills, the combat and exploration become better, if not strictly fun. The story also picks up speed toward the end, though some characters remain insufferable throughout. Lore wise, its a brilliant nod to the Star Wars universe and borrows heavily from its namesake to create a great world(s) to explore and learn about (even if the actual traversal mechanics necessary for exploration are subpar until the very end of the game).

Great experience overall, even having played it for the first time 20 years after release (abandonware ftw). Exploration, combat, story and characters are all good. Main missions kind of rush the story ahead, and its difficult to refuse to do them without breaking immersion. Voice acting is hilariously bad, to the point its camp, so not really a problem at all. Rushed through the campaign without exploring everything, but also made me feel like the game didn't overstay its welcome.

Average game from what has sadly become an average developer (and downright manic publisher). The main story quest is bog standard and uninteresting. The companion characters and boring and nearly lifeless. The faction quests are alright, and companion's commentary on player choices during these is the highlight of my experience. Gameplay wise, shooting things from your ship or with your guns is also alright. Just alright. Exploration is dead, replaced by fast travel menus and procedurally landscapes that all look the same save for the colour gradient. Overall, the game is just meh.

A decently written story with all the right elements to tickle the nostalgia fibres in people who grew up playing 16bit jrpgs. The gameplay loop was fun, but began to wear quite thin after the 30th hour. Luckily there are in-lore options in the game to decrease the difficulty of the fights, which made my last 10 hours of the game much less of a slog than it could've been. Extra point for having a fast track button on the credits too.
Honestly, the devs really understand what gamers tend to like and not like and work around that brilliantly. Massive kudos to the team.

Having never played the original, I went into the game with an open mind and was not disappointed. The atmosphere of The Citadel was haunting, the enemies creepy and powerful and the ever present feeling of tension as I forged on is unforgettable. The CYBERSPACE sections of the game were neat initially, but quickly became a boring slog, though thankfully they do not show up so often as to demerit the game. The gameplay was retro-esque, especially the combat, but worked well for me. The story and characters (which you only communicate with via "email") were all interesting and fleshed out. Except for the ending. The ending **** an ass's arse.

A great game which kept me interested for the whole duration of it. The story and characters are rather simple, but deep enough to be engaging still. The gameplay, with mechanics borrowed from both the Batman and Assassin's Creed series, if very enjoyable and definitely the highlight of the experience. What also helps is that the game is just long enough to be engaged in without overstaying its welcome, given the good, but unimpressive amount of content it has to offer. Overall, a great throwback to better times and a welcome reprieve from modern AAA bs.

May 20, 2023
What started out as a brilliant isometric, turn-based and semi-open world RPG eventually devolved into a grindy experience that soured my entire experience of the game. My enjoyment gradually began decreasing in the fourth region, about 60h in. The fifth region i managed to slog through, and by the time i reached the 100h mark in the final region, i lost all interest and dumped the game. Wartales has great ideas, but could have really benefited from being shorter or more fast pace progression wise.

The Halo games themselves are interesting to play even after the years following their release. However, not enough to get all that engrossed.
