Code Vein6

This game is pretty good and fun. Then why only a 6, you might ask. The reason is that it claims to be a souls-like game. But it is not. I mean, it would be, if it was without the amazing atmosphere, the depth, the complexity and most of all the difficulty. What's left of that what you can consider dark souls like? Close to nothing. It basically is a kiddy version of Dark Souls with a lot of hand holding, where dying is pretty difficult. Not only are enemies mostly push overs and bosses boring and bland (from what I've seen), but you are also teamed with over powered NPC that will clear most for you and even revive you when you die. It reminds me of WoW, where at first the game was tricky and fun but got replaced by hand holding to cater the children. Now this doesn't make the game bad. Even with all the hand holding the game is still more difficult than most games nowadays (which admittingly says more about the majority of games released), the concept of being able to change classes whenever you feel like it to suit the situation is pretty cool, the combat is still pretty fun and all that. It just hurts to get this when you are expecting a game like Dark Souls.

Contradiction - Spot The Liar!2
Aug 26, 2019
Honestly why it is highly rated is beyond me. The controls are awful. There is no tutorial. you just have to find out stuff along the way. Which could have been fine had it been straight forward, but it isn't. Not just that, but it is poorly acted, buggy, poorly made and there are grammar and spelling errors. Whether the story is good or not I can't tell as it was impossible for me to get through the first few minutes

Titanfall 210
Oct 31, 2016
This game should have it's own rating from 11 to 20, because a 10 is actually too low. This game is so far beyond anything I have ever seen. It has graphics I did not expect for years. It has gameplay so smooth it makes me wonder what the heck all other game designers have been doing... ever. So far, I have not encountered a single bug, which is, on it's own, already unachievable as almost every 'big' game that is being released secretly does a match whose can put as many bugs in it and still sell that garbage. It is ironic, when a game adds a single player, because people asked for it, despite it actually being a multiplayer game, and it turns out to have a single player so insanely better than any other game. The one thing I feel like is missing in this game is a practise room, where you can try out weapons and titans under different circumstances. Sure, there is the story mode where you can try everything, but it takes a while to find those weapons. Anyway, not a single reason not to buy this game.

Life is Strange10
Jul 10, 2016
After playing through all 5 episodes, I just had to write a review. The game was quite the mindblowing experience. Ironically, I can list more cons than pros, because the game sure had many bad things. It probably makes you wonder how I can rate this game a 10 anyway. Well, what it does do, it does so well, that I'd actually wish I could rate it higher than a 10. Never, have I ever before, been blown away by a story, visuals, and soundtrack, as much as I have here. After finishing it, I just sat there... for hours. Thinking. Wondering. And I also cried like a **** Excuse my language. Now, let's list the cons. -Episode 2 was horrible. There. I said it. So many things that were too damn ridiculous. Not wanting to spoil anything, imagine having to show someone you can do 5 push ups, and then proceed to show how well you can use every singular muscle, required to do push ups, so the other person can see how you should be able to do push ups, WITHOUT ACTUALLY DOING PUSH UPS. Or something else ridiculous (which is not how it went): oh, you have a band aid in your hand? Might as well cut my hand, since you have a band aid. Like, what's with that logic? Episode 2 made me want to stop playing entirely. I am glad that, after a long time, I continued. -The puzzles are not that well done. There have been several puzzles where the answer was so dumb that, even though I thought of it at the beginning, it was dumbed down even more that the logic of it was missing. The solution to these problems is actually wrong. -The main event in one of the episodes is almost an exact copy of a movie. At least it was a good movie. -it's not clear how some things in the story will unfold. In general that's a good thing, but there is a case where something happens when you do something, but you have no clue there is something like that possible. Either you are just 'lucky' to get to it, or you first need to find out there is something like that by watching youtube. I can go on, but it will only prevent you from playing. You should ignore these cons and only read my first bit, because... you should just play it.

Hand of Fate8
May 15, 2016
Hand of fate is one of the most... interesting games I've played, and certainly most unique. I have never played anything that comes even close to this game. The best comparison is dungeons and dragons. You play on a board, where the entire board is made out of cards you can choose yourself. These cards are called 'encounters', and every encounter gives you multiple options to get past them. Most of them, chance. For instance, whenever you land on the encounter 'a wife's fury' you run into an angry woman, whose husband is out, drinking. She asks you to confront him. You're being given the choice whether to do so, or let her deal with it. If you choose the latter, you can go on your way, but, you'll be given a curse. If you choose to confront him, you'll find out that her husband, is none other than one of the bosses in the game. Again, you'll be given two options. Either to threaten him, or to join his drinking game. Both of these options have a chance of succes, or failure. Whatever happens after that, you'll have to find out. Interesting enough, it's not just a boardgame. Whenever you encounter an enemy, you suddenly find yourself into an action-brawl area, where you have to fight them, similar to the batman series (attack/counter/stun buttons + special moves). Because of this, it never gets boring, and it doesn't all depend on luck. The game, however, has one huge issue. It is filled with bugs. Most of the bugs aren't all that noticable when you play the story mode, but in endless mode, the game mode you unlock after beating the story mode, is barely playable. The further you get, the harder it becomes to battle your way through not the game itself, but the bugs. As if the game itsn't challenging enough, it has to kill you in the cheapest way possible. Other bugs, however, are easily exploited and make the online scoreboard very unreliable. Almost any game I'd rate with a 4 or 5 out of 10. It is one thing to have those bug in alpha/beta, but this game has been going for quite some time and it's ridiculous it's still in it. However, this game is something special. Despite the bugs, it still makes me want to play, over, and over again. No matter how frustrated I become, because some cheap bug killed me, after an hour I want to play again. In bed, I can't help but think about the game, wanting to play. Overall, I rate this game 8 out of 10. I hope hand of fate 2 will be less of an bug fest, but for now, I'll enjoy being number 3 on the scoreboard without cheating.

One Way Heroics6

It took me a few times to actually play the game. At first glance, the game was kind ugly looking and the game played a bit... chunky. However, after reading several reviews I tried the game again. This time i sort of knew what you were supposed to do and it became a lot more fun. The game is quite deep and there are many ways to play. Tons of different items, all sorts of easter eggs that make the game much more interesting than it seems at first. The game actually works well with many options. However, roguelike games are usually insanely difficult. This game isn't. In fact, it's incredibly easy. Way too easy. Even though there are many options available, there is no need for any of it. I just picked some class, grabbed some stats and went on. You can talk to people, you can fight mini-bosses, open up castles, buy stuff, but none of it is even remotely needed. I just walked forward, killed some dudes, didn't bother with anything, 20 minutes later I got to the final boss (like, what?) killed it in a few hits (although I did activate an ability or two) and that... was it. The game was over. Expecting the actual game to... become deeper, like binding of isaac, it turned out that was it. That was pretty much all the game had to offer. I tried it again with another character, which was also very easy. Then I tried the game mode for people who looked for a challenge, which was even easier than the previous mode, because the end boss arrived much sooner so in a few minutes that one was finished. Now, if you're the type of person who likes the content this game has. Who likes the funny conversations with people, the hidden parts of the story, the easter eggs and the unique way this game really is, then this game is the game for you. But, if you like to be challenged then you shouldn't bother because this is more of a casual game than a rogue-like, despite the random elements.

Rise of Incarnates9
Jul 28, 2015
After some start up trouble, the game really starts to shine. Rise of incarnates is a game I haven't experienced before. In Japan they have the gundam series; the origins from Rise of Incarnates, but here there isn't really a game like this. It mostly is a hack 'n slasher. You fight against two human players, with a teammate on your side. Communication and cooperation is a must, if you want to win. Sure, you can both just fight whoever gets nearby (which is what usually happens), but to play effectively you really need to work together. For instance, there are tag combos: one of the players does an attack that throws an opponent into the air. The other player can finish this with a unique move. Other than tag combos, it is also important to keep an eye on your teammate, both opponents and the battlefield. If your teammate is getting combod, you need to hit the opponent so you can save him from more damage. The fighting it self feels like devil may cry. You're locked onto an opponent at all times and depending on the direction of your movement stick/key + melee attack button you do a different attack, There also is an ultimate, two special moves and awakening. Some character have even more. Each special move but every melee/ranged move as well is very different, making every character unique. Some are characters that fight up close. Others fight at range. There are those who are good at running around, dodging everything and striking unexpectedly, and those who just don't give a damn and jump into the fight. The game got some bad reviews, because you had to pay money for each new character at first. Luckily this has been removed and each one you can now get with LP, an ingame currency. Getting LP is easy; just play the game and you'll get there fast enough. Within a few days you should be able to get all characters, with all the boost available. Personally, I believe this game to be the next big game. Among the likes of League of Legends, even. However, the game is still very new and does have issues. One of which is the matchmaking, You're matched with players that are so far apart it doesn''t get interesting at all. As a level 20 rank (practically the highest rank) you can get matched against level 1. This isn't fun for either. As if this isn't bad enough, there is also the issue of points given after having won a match. If the game is terribly laggy, or your teammate is afk, or whatever the reason may be, and you lose against those level 1, you lose 32 points. Winning a match gets you 1 point and you get practically 1 point every single match. This makes leveling a pain and doesn't feel very rewarding. Other than this, the game has some more issues. Still, the game is very fun and extremely addicting. If you like hack 'n slashers and think yourself to be good at games: give rise of incarnates a try!

Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number5

I'm not all that impressed. The game doesn't feel like a part 2. It feels as if you're still playing the original game. Things look the same, feel the same, work the same and in general, most things are the same. The few changes the game has, aren't for the better. It seems as if the AI is even worse this game and, to be honest: It already was the worst thing of the game in the original. Sometimes you can sneak up on opponents, without them even having the slightest possiblity of knowing; yet, they turn around and shoot you before you can even blink. On the other hand, it can also happen you shoot at them with a shotgun. Pieces of glass are flying through the air and yet they have no clue there is someone there. It was already much like this in the original but it feels as if this game does even worse. The soundtrack didn't get me pumped like the original did. Now, this is of course different for everyone but in my opinion, it isn't as good as the original was. The storyline... is... not that interesting either. Of course, the previous game had no real storyline. The whole idea was to show people games can be great without a good storyline. Yet, I was intrigued. The dark atmosphere; the feeling of someone losing their mind; it worked. Even though it didn't really make sense... it felt as if it did. This game, everything constantly changed. Then you were this guy, then you were this guy. The story is original, but... It just wasn't interesting to me, The only thing I really like about this game is it's difficulty. The first few levels are already harder than most of the levels in the original game. This definitely is nice, although it also has a lot to do with the terrible AI. I can't help but feel disappointed. A little scammed, even, because I think the original is actually better and that one was for free. Of course the game is still fun. The original was great, so it's not all that bad it's more of the same, but with a previous game like that, I expected more of this.

Truly amazing game. The game isn't very unique and original, as everything in it has been done before, but what this game does; it does so incredibly well. It combines dodging/flying (sort of. You can do three jumps that are dragon ball Z-style), shooting and slowing down time. Never have I felt so incredibly bad-ass, when you're starting out on very hard and you manage to kill those bosses. Bullets everywhere, and you are standing there, controlling time, dodging bullets with perfect timing. It really is a piece of art. The stages are well made. Everytime you expect the next stage will be easy, since you become better really fast (skill-wise. The ingame shop only helps so much), but then again they've come up with something incredible that takes everything you've got. Most people here say it's short. It isn't really. It depends what you do. Of course games are short when you go for easy. Which is why you should go for the highest setting possible. I spent a lot of time on each boss, as I went for very hard without buying items. When you do that, the game truly is amazing and I can recommend you do the same. You'll die hundreds of times, but you'll love it. Of course the game isn't flawless. The visuals are pretty basic, the story is bad, there aren't many stages and the shop is basic too. It's clearly visable this is just an indie game, made by one guy (I think), but for some reason those cons don't matter much. The game does something I've never felt before, and I'm going to keep playing this game until my hands fall off.

Gunpoint9
Jun 1, 2014
Gunpoint is a game you only see in a lifetime. I don't expect there will ever be anything like it. In the game you're some sort of mix between spiderman and a spy. You can leap from buildings, climb on the walls and pounce any any for an instant kill/knock-out, while at the same time having to hide from your enemies, because not only are the enemies killed in one hit: you are too. Sneaking in the dark, waiting for the right moment to pounce your target, or to sneak past him; it's all up to you. The game doesn't have one way to beat stages and you can choose whether you want to be a stealthy spy, or leave a trail of bodies. It may not sound like it, but even more than action, there are puzzles involved. Shortly, you'll be able to rewire pretty much everything. You can use light switches to open doors and cameras to turn off the lights. This is very important because you usually can't get in and out without it. There are also several ways to do this and the game gives you a lot of space. During dialogues you also have different options and you can be honest, but you can also decide to keep information. The visuals are very basic. I have to admit: at first, when I saw the game for the first time, I was like: I'm not going to play this. Even for me those graphics are bad. However, in 5 minutes I was hooked. The graphics may be bad, but there are exactly the things you need. There isn't a whole lot of stuff to see, other than what's useful. About the gameplay there isn't really anything bad to say. However, the game isn't all good. The game starts out very easy and it will remain so for the most of the game. At one point the difficulty increases and it seems as if you're finally past the tutorial. It's nice, but... as soon as you've beaten it, only one stage remains. The final stage is a poor excuse for a final stage. In the upgrade screen, you'll be able to get an upgrade that renders pretty much everything useless. No need to be stealthy anymore. Just destroy everyone in your path with ease. Even if you do die, you'll be back in no-time, because with dying, you can literally jump a few seconds back in time. The choice is even up to you how long, making any mistake barely noticeable. Luckily each stage has a rating. Getting A+ on every stage takes a little more time, meaning you can play it a little more, but after that, the game doesn't have much to offer. Even with the getting A+ every stage, the game is short and very easy. The game is like a raw diamond. It's amazing and great, but it could have been one of the best games ever, if the creators decided to be done with it so fast. A shame, but nonetheless a very fun game, as long as it lasts. Don't expect it to take more than 3 hours, and that is with getting a perfect score on every stage. 8.5

Mario Kart 86

Having read some of the reviews, I can't understand why people rate this game so high. Of course everyone has their own opinion, but I'm not that fond of it. Let's start with the good stuff. The game looks gorgeous. That, coming from someone who doesn't care about the graphics much, that means a lot. The soundtrack is nice too. It is very fitting. What this game is lacking, however, is skill to master it. It is a nice and very fun game for any casual gamer and even my friend who is really bad at games in general, liked it. But that's just it. It's easy and simple. There isn't much to be good at. I'm not saying it doesn't take skill at all. It matters where you drive and there are several ways to take shortcuts. There are also several ways to increase speed. However, most tricks, if not all, you'll learn your first day. The courses have gotten somewhat easier, the AI worse and items aren't as devastating as they used to be (which is a good thing). Having played mainly mario kart double dash, I have to say it has gotten worse instead of better. In double dash, you had to push enemies around and picking characters actually mattered. Each character had their own unique item, and that was certainly a very strong point. In mario kart 8, the characters don't matter besides the 3 (6) weight categories. They simply look different. There is a whole lot of characters to unlock and if they would have been different from one another, it certainly would have added more depth to the game. Sure, it's nice to play with your favorite character, but for someone who's less interested in the lay out and cares more about the gameplay, it isn't really worth unlocking them. A nice addition to the game is the option to build your own carts/bikes. Each part has their own stats, which is nice, but to me, the stats don't seem to matter much. Different bikes/cars don't require a unique way of driving, besides the difference between bikes and cars. The parts also often have the same stats, making it also visuals, pretty much. Cool about this game is that it has zero gravity. You can drive upside down and on the walls. I also like the flying parts. However, because of the way the camera always follows the car, you can't really see the difference between being upside down or not. The flying parts are cool, but what would have been really nice is if it was optional. Being able to turn your car into a kite at all times. It would allow all sorts of techniques to get past obstacles and would add much more depth. Something else I don't really like about this game is the lack of options. There is no option screen whatsoever. No way to turn down the music or change the controls. Also, using any controller other than the gamepad is somewhat buggy. Whenever you lay down your controller for a while, you can't pick it up and keep on playing. Instead, it suddenly goes to the gamepad, forcing to use that instead. The game is also rather short, because it's so easy. At 150 CC you finally get the feeling you have to do something, so you can finish the game the first day. Luckily you can play online, so the game becomes both more challenging and it extends the duration. It's just not something I enjoy, because it doesn't take much skill but a whole lot of luck. Overall: It's a very fun game. It's casual and relaxing and lots of fun with friends. But casual it is. It is in no way competitive. The game doesn't take much skill to master, but it is very dependent on items, meaning it is a very luck based game. In competitions, you try to avoid luck based factors as much as possible and in this game it can't be avoided, especially because the game doesn't have much else to offer. The graphics are great and the music is good too. The game plays like a charm and everyone can jump right in, without needing a lot of practise. You can play with all controllers (from gamepad to nunchuks), so everyone can use whatever they want. Overall I give this game a 6.5

What it is about this game, I don't know, but I find it to be fantastic. It's extremely addicting and I have to admit, from the second I started it, I didn't stop until it was finished, except for getting something to eat. It is some kind of mix between spelunky and those free to play games on gaming sites where you have to collect gold and then upgrade some in order to continue. It works like a charm. It is also amazing how bugless the game is. I haven't encountered a single one of them. However, it isn't all good. The game is rather short and, to be honest, way too easy. It's nowhere challenging even remotely and eventually you will just go rambo-style because even if you die, you won't lose anything worthwhile. I have to admit that I like the games that are damn near impossible, so it could be just me, but I find it to be the game biggest downside. Strangely enough it didn't prevent me from loving it in it's entirely. I feel somewhat sad the ride is already over and the game lacks any replayability. No additional content, which is a shame. Overall, I'd give it an 8.5
