A Real Pain is a real gem, thoughtful and lyrical, about pain of course, the two sides of the double-entendre: the irritating whine of an obnoxious brat or the drone of a bore channeling someone else’s pain on the one hand and, on the other, the pain of ‘life is pain’ and the channeled pain. The oil and water are held apart and mixed perfectly throughout.
