It's a good game, just not a good One Piece game. Think of it as the anime equivalent of 'Banjokazooie Nuts&Bolts', without the pedigree it'd be fine but the name makes fans expect something good-- and fans are hardest to please.

I LOVE anime, I've been called a weeb on many occasions, I've seen people say "anime fans will buy anything anime related" but I WILL NOT recommend this game to anyone, especially anime fans. It's yet another boring anime arena brawler only with a coat of ugly that was criticized from day one by anime lovers. If you want a good JUMP game check out JUMP Ultimate Stars on DS, it's a Smash clone but that just means it's fun. And for a good anime game check out Dragonball Fighterz.

It should be noted that someone is exploiting the user score. The number of negatives on all Persona games has been steadily rising by the same amount, same pace. Over 100 negatives were added to P5 overnight even though it's older. Metacritic has been alerted but apparently they don't care. Just goes to show you shouldn't place any faith in user scores (big surprise) because some children use bots and dupe accounts to sway the number.

To clarify: MHGU came out BEFORE Monster Hunter World. MHGU was not going to get a Western release at all. The West got MHGU second BECAUSE of the success of MHW in the West. So while people may beat you over the head with "MHGU>>>>>>>MHW" without providing solid reasoning, every Westerner still has MHW to thank for us getting this game at all. Now, as someone who has completed every entry since MH on PS2, importing every title that we didn't get (including this title, thanks Capcom) I can confirm this is the greatest hits collection of almost all of the MH titles up to World (because World didn't exist when this came out originally). MHGU is, however, quantity over quality when it comes to number of monsters and graphics, which I always prefer in a game. I only hope that one day we get a MH game with a crazy number of monsters like in MHGU and the slick HD graphics of MHW, with selectable playstyle (MH Classic or MHW). Definitely worth your time and your money, $50 for literal hundreds of hours of playtime-- no one can argue with the value. Just keep in mind MHGU is the predecessor to MHW and the multitude of changes in MHW did not exist when MHGU first released and are not present in MHGU as a result. And on a final note: let's not pit MHGU against MHW. We're all hunters and whether you're a veteran that enjoyed MHW or not we have it to thank for the Western release of MHGU, the expansion of our fanbase, and the revival of Capcom's interest in MH for the Western audience. MHW roped the new hunters in and MHGU will keep them here. Here's to the longevity of Monster Hunter!

Avoid if you're Chinese. The racism is strong in this one. Actually, do yourself a favor and just avoid it if you consider **** because it's also just a legitimately bad game and maybe one of the few that actually deserves the troll 0 score.

This version of the game also just came out today (as of writing this), isn't on a Nintendo console like BOTW is (not really getting why you even think BOTW and Undertale are similar) and still has a 92 on the PC version. Whatever score you go off of Undertale is still a memorably excellent experience worth the time.
