Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Breakpoint6
Jul 21, 2020
UPDATE 21 JULY 2020: Since the fixes, incorporated AI squads and overall bug and glitch fixes I am optimistic this game will move closer to the mark of Wildlands FINALLY. There are still some decisive mechanics geared towards micro-transactions but I am moving my review from a 2 to a 6. PREVIOUS REVIEW: Alright here is the deal with Breakpoint... I had great expectations after Wildlands. The mechanics, the game play, the story, and the open world simulator were great. Now on to Breakpoint... So they cast the Punisher actor as the main villain. He does a great but limited job. The story is a bit wonky compared to Wildlands but honestly if you are playing this for an in depth story... this is the wrong game for you. The controls are clunky, no smooth transitions over obstacles, hiccups in controller actions, and delays/lag constantly when transitioning which cause disadvantages in game play. Wildlands did not have this issue. Micro-transactions you say? Heck yes this game has it. Every aspect from upgrading weapons, blueprints, cammo patterns, face-paint, tattoos, skins, etc... every single aspect of this game is micro-transactioned like crazy. Did you like the sync shot mechanic from Wildlands? Well guess what, now you have drones that will do that for you, but guess what!?! You've got to buy them. Like playing expansion content? Want to be able to kill the terminators in the expansion mission? Well you have to buy it, then you have to pay for a weapon that is the ONLY weapon that can kill a terminator. No team members, no team member customization like in Wildlands. It's like they took all the concepts that were applauded in Wildlands and decided they wanted to monetize them. Ubisoft is going a pay to play, pay to win dynamic and it **** because this franchise was getting good. Fix it.

I rarely give a 10 rating on any game and the last game I enjoyed this much was Nier Automata. This game has it all. Great story, great game-play, and a challenging reward and challenge system. I loved the infamous series and this game takes all the aspects I enjoyed in that series and expands dramatically upon it. Vivid, colorful, and at times beautiful graphics. The scenery, the character models, the game play are visually stunning. The soundtrack is epic, with blends of traditional Japanese instruments into electronica mixes. I enjoyed the open world dynamic immensely and continue to enjoy it as I explore and replay areas. The open world allows me to go at my own pace or side track to wherever i feel like. The combat mechanics in this game are outstanding, it is a nice blend of challenge and easy to understand. THIS game should be a "Must Play" and I think its a serious contender for Game of the Year.

Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Wildlands9

I've been playing this game for the last two years and it is great. Co-Op or Solo this game is a fantastic tactical simulator. Whatever path, route, or experience you want to run in this game, your choices are at your own disposal. The game play is versatile dependent on your play style. If you want to sneak, snoop, and snipe or barrel in and unload on your enemies this is your game. The weapon variety, gear, customization still keeps me occupied. Wildlands is everything good about the Ghost Recon franchise.

I am torn with this game... I play the hell out of it. I like the variations in characters, the old-school final fantasy turn based dynamic, and the limitless variations in characters. I was once a paying member, and in the last three months i have stopped paying 20-60 bucks a week on this game because of its predatory practices. I HATE the pay-to-win, whale war fiasco that this game utterly caters too. Once you complete the initial session on this game and hit around level 30-40ish the game utterly places a choke-hold on any substantial progress. The energy system for this game is predatory. In order to continue to play for random gear, characters, or development tools that sits at less than a .01% drop rate you expend this energy at a unmatched rate for regeneration. Leveling of gear, characters, or leveling/ascending potions is far more expensive than generated in game currency. Updates to the game are token at best, no game play changes that positively effect players, only updates that increase revenue choke holds for increased whaling. Arena/PVP is straight up Pay to Win with rewards for Pay-walled tier giving gear that clearly gives advantages. High Level gear is pay-walled at Platinum Tier and Youtubers are clearly receiving rewards or increased drop percentages versus regular players. The drop rates on this game are absolutely predatory in nature and i hold out hope that loot box legislation is passed and/or a class action suit is filed against this game for its false advertisement and unsubstantiated drop rates. This game has such great potential if it changes course. If not, its just another Whale War with a gluttonous developer screwing over its gamer base.

Berserk and the Band of the Hawk6

If you are a fan of both Berserk and the Dynasty Warriors franchise you will love this hack and slash, gore-fest, that stay authentic to the Berserk anime. There is nothing ground breaking about this game, its a hack and slash with spliced in scenes from the Berserk movies, and television series. I enjoyed it because I am a glutton for completion with Dynasty Warriors-esq titles. This game does fix and expand on the television series season two and I am glad it expanded upon how the show left off. There was potential in this game to have countless characters to play as, yet we are limited in size and scope for playable characters. It's depressing that we will never get to play as the Skull Rider, or other characters such as Pippin, and other various generals and apostles from the Anime series. Fun to play, replay ability, just falls short on its potential.

The Last of Us Part II3

I refused to believe the spoilers and make my own decision. This is the first review I am doing on Metacritic because of how lackluster this game is in comparison to the previous. Graphics and Mechanics on the game were fantastic... there are sections of the game where the graphics are absolutely phenomenal, and it is seriously impressive how far and how detailed this franchise has come. That being said, the story... I cannot believe that the characters developed throughout the previous game have been thrown to the wayside and dumped on like they have. I am not going to spoil this because there is enough spoilers in this thread, but seriously... I've seen better plot lines in Dynasty Warriors games. Playing as Abby feels 100% forced and you have to conduct things as Abby that are forced. I didn't even like Abby yet I am being forced to carry out actions against characters I enjoyed playing and want to succeed. It's like watching Rob Zombies 31 and not caring if any of the protagonists die because you cannot stand any of them. I'd rather go back to playing the first game and enjoy the development versus playing this again. I literally hated the forced narrative and essentially destroying characters I built in the previous game. Yuck
