Not perfect at all but the pocket format translates well to the phone and the collection aspect is everything live should of been (besides trading that ****)
A nearly perfect Roguelike that manages to bring the genre to new heights, both in its narrative and gameplay. Every system is fine tuned to offer tons of choice while still being quality, especially the very modular difficulty. Just wish the story has a better conclusion.
The three OG Duck Life's on Steam with some minor content additions. Great flash games but this collection is pretty mediocre, the new challenges are all super buggy.
Fine enough for what it is, though I think it could of just used one or two more enemy types to keep things from getting dull till the end. The horror aspects worked but not as well as some of David's other games.
Still a good Mario Kart game, though its been forgotten to time since every good feature it added was done better in MK8. The lack of content and somewhat mediocre Nitro track selection doesn't help either. The Retro tracks put together by Retro Studios go hard at least
It's DOOM. The gameplay has stood the test of time, even if it has been surpassed in every way by now. I wish I could rate it higher but the later episodes do drop in quality, with obtuse puzzles and the only real challenge being just how many demons the game devs can cram into each room.
Revitalized the 2D Mario series by putting a "modern" twist on the classics. Adding some of the 3D Mario move set to the game added a lot more fun to the platforming, though most of the other new additions felt too gimmicky (not Monty Tank though that guy is cool).
This game is sold as a Rhythm FPS, when is reality its more like a DOOM clone with a shallow rhythm gimmick thrown on top. That being said the soundtrack alone is good enough to not mind the somewhat lackluster gameplay, it goes so hard.
Funny game about an onion robbing a bank. The humor and charm is all the game has going for it sadly, the gameplay is shallow and the amount of bugs I ran into was insane for such a short experience.
I like Minecraft, I don't typically care for arpgs, and this game doesn't do anything to expand on that genre really. The dungeons are just slogs to get through with easily beatable enemies being thrown at you constantly. The Roguelike mode is actually pretty fun thankfully.
Probably one of the best games of the Tower Defense genre, it can be as easy or as complex as you want it to be thanks to the sheer volume of game modes to play. I think if the game stripped back the mobile game elements it could be perfect.
I like what the game is trying to do, but its just too short to really get into the story. I don't really spent enough time with Venba's family to be all that invested.
Greatly expands upon the first game, fleshing out the MC's various mental health struggles and introduces some point and click elements. Every ending is important enough to warrant multiple playthroughs.
A solid remaster of one of the most genre defining FPS games there is. The new graphics aren't my favorite as they drain a lot of the personality the original game had, but thankfully you can switch back to the og graphics whenever you want.
More edgy version of Vampire Survivors, with a muted color palate and more involved gameplay. It's fun, but has a big lack of content and replayability.
The Alola region looks cool, but is pretty bland and empty besides the pretty decent new Pokémon. The amount of cutscenes this game has takes any enjoyment I had with the story and trashes it.
The transition to 3D was a big leap for Pokémon, but it cost them a lot in the process. The Kalos region is fine I guess, but the story is god awful and there really isn't a lot to do in general. The Pokémon themselves lost a lot of personality coming into 3D (Megas were cool at least).
The entire region of Kanto being the post-game is enough to put this game at the top honestly. Johto itself is crammed full of content too, with the best aesthetics and music of any region. Adding following Pokémon was the single best idea Gamefreak's ever had (and one they haven't gotten right since this game).
While the story dips in quality, everything else about this sequel is a great improvement over the original B/W. The vastly improved Pokedex and the Pokémon World Tournament are some of the best new additions.
The best story Pokémon's ever told, with some actually interesting ideas and characters for once. Rest of the game is good too, though being forced to use the pretty mid Gen 5 pokemon until the post-game was kind of lame.
Merging both of the evil teams stories into one worked out very well. The addition of the Battle Frontier plus the other new content make Hoenn feel complete.
Despite being on a handheld this game is one of the most content packed in the series. Mission mode was great and should of become a mainstay game mode. The Retro track trend started here too, though they didn't really do the returning tracks justice for the most part.
Fun FPS about shooting Goblins. Only a couple hours of content but it's time well spent stopping the Goblin invasion. Could of used some checkpoints in the levels tbh.
Kind of insulting this replaced CG:GO, its still the same game but with somewhat better graphics and content stripped out of it for no reason. Maybe in time it will be able to really stand on its own?
One of the most popular and long lasting shooters there is. Basically perfected the CS formula, and also peddled gambling to an entire generation of children.
Best set of Nitro tracks in the series, amazing character roster, I can see why most people would regard this as the best Mario Kart, though I don't agree. The game is very unbalanced from the items to the addition of bikes, and I don't love the rigid driving mechanics.
Certainly has not aged well, the driving is super clunky and the rubber banding the bots do is the worst its ever been. I do think the track selection is solid, and I imagine playing this with other people (especially the battle mode) would be pretty fun.
Takes the original Red/Blue and makes them actually playable, what more could you ask for? Kanto is a well made region, and these games show that off nicely. Could of been even better if we got any substantial new content as well.
You don't become the best selling video game of all time by being anything less than perfect. I do have gripes with how Mojang has handled things in the past couple years, but the core game still holds up. Having the best soundtrack in gaming too is just the cherry on top.
Having two characters in one kart was the one of the best ideas they ever had for the series, its a shame it hasn't returned in any other game so far. The only things holding this game back are the outdated controls and insane amount of items on the tracks.
The whole "exploring someone else's unfinished game's" idea was cool, but the story ends up fizzling out by the end, really just making me wonder why I played the game in the first place.
In concept a Star Wars game with souls-like gameplay sounds great, and it mostly is, but it feels like everything else is held back as a result. The story, world, and overall content just don't do enough for me, and the gameplay isn't good enough to justify it.
One of the greatest stories ever told in the zombie medium, delivered in the usual bland Telltale package. The choose your own adventure elements don't do much to elevate the story ultimately, The illusion of choice ****.
Smash but if you were all stick figures, and the gameplay wasn't nearly as good, and if the pvp was laggy to the point of ruining the fun half the time.
A great showcase of how severe mental illness can affect someone. The visuals also give the game a uniquely unsettling tone. If only the whole thing wasn't 20 minutes long.
The games themselves are good zombie killing flash games, but the PC port of them somehow makes them run worse. Union City especially is just a laggy mess, which **** since it's easily the best of the 3 games here.
One of the best flash-game franchises of it's time. The choose your own story, stick man gameplay still holds up today. Sadly it doesn't really lend itself to multiple playthroughs.
Final Fantasy did a lot of establish the JPRG genre, but it hasn't aged all that well unfortunately. The Pixel Remaster does do a lot to alleviate some of the games more outdated features thankfully.
A perfectly serviceable Metroidvania experience. Outside of the somewhat interesting spirit system, the game does little to stand out of from the sea of games like it.
The social deduction is fun, but gets stale after a while. The failure to add meaningful content outside of one update per year leaves this game in an awful state most of the time.
The finale to the Dark Souls trilogy does a great job of closing things out on a good note. The combat and boss design are nearly perfect, if only the world wasn't so linear and devoid of life for the majority of the game.
This game really lived up to the whole "this game is the hardest thing ever" marketing that surrounds the Dark Souls franchise. The amount of awfully designed areas and bosses is impressive. That being said, the core gameplay and amazing DLC's do somewhat redeem it.
One of the best designed worlds in gaming, the interconnectivity of the areas is unmatched by every game that came after it. Unfortunately, after Anor Londo the game takes a nosedive into mediocrity until the amazing ending.
