Football Manager 2021 Touch0
Dec 9, 2022
Flawed. On the surface of it, the game resembles the old-school football manager games with less emphasis on team talks and press conferences of the main series. However, after pumping in 90+ hours into FM 21 Touch Switch edition, it quickly becomes clear all your experience with learning the mechanics of the main games do not translate well to a touch/mobile edition. The problem with striping back mechanics is that those full-fat PC versions rely on them to balance the game. Getting promoted is an example of the shortcomings of the Switch/Touch editions and will highlight it perfectly with what I mean. Normally you could rely on squad-chemistry and scouting the vast available free talent to help you survive relegation. This is a mechanic that hasn't been utilised well here, or at all, which creates a restriction that only financial fair play would be jealous off. Which is apt, as that too isn't part of Switch/Touch versions. Over my 90+ hours I found myself really struggling in the lower leagues, 4-2-3-1 is the only formation available to you that doesn't create significant issues, you will be left to the scout department to find you any players as there is no 'Ctrl-A' button to mass select a potential list of recruits, and players don't develop even in the first team as staff/training options have been fully dumbed down. There is no quick way to select your subs/'unused players' to play in the next reserve game, so players are always lacking sharpness, and this all points to the Switch editions main issue... clunkyness. I have tried a mouse attached through USB-Switch port, but it can not deter from the poor interface which makes even finding different leagues a challenge; let alone finding yourself in perpetual holiday under the instruction only to return once offered a job to get out off the flawed lower division system, only to find there is no 'return from holiday' button after realising a Premier League team wants nothing to do with a manager sacked 6 times in the Welsh counties league. Little do those interviewers know I am a 20 year CM/FM veteran that knows all the tricks of the trade... except how to return off holiday. In the end I just turned it off

Saints Row 210

14 years on, and Saints Row 2 still remains the best 3D game I have ever played from start to finish. However it is purely subjectively based on humour and entertainment. Other critically acclaimed games which have higher review scores objectively have more to them, but fall flat in places or struggles to maintain my interest near the mid-point or conclusion. There is good reason the company who made Saints Row found the lost PC source code and are attempting to fix it over a decade later.

inexcusable the pc port comes without controller support, it was 2006, they could easily allow a XB360 controller as a selectable at the very least.

It is 2022 and this remains the best game I have and will ever play. Yes it has it's minor flaws but it is the only game I could play forever if I had to. Has kept me entertained for thousands of hours and will continue for years to come despite new releases. It takes maybe the first 500 hours to really understand what it takes to be good at the game but I promise you when you find the perfect system it is a beautiful thing.

Such an underrated game, and (I think) to say it was a launch title, it really is a lot of fun on couch co-op. One of my all time favourites, yet very few people bought or heard of it. A little gem if you appreciate what you are getting is more towards arcade fun than a war simulation. But a very good game to chill out to

Underrated game. Especially after the release of Team Sonic Racing, I think retrospectively this has aged well along with 'Transformed'. This was my favourite though, the soundtrack, characters and gameplay/tracks were all severely underrated by the critics. I will never forget the fun I had setting time attack records and finding which character was best for each track and the shortcuts. Honestly, I think I had more fun with this than even Transformed, so I have to give it a 10.
