As someone who is both adopted and living with a disability, this show deeply upset me. It honestly makes me sick. The real-life father and another family member have admitted to abusing Natalia, yet this show chooses to platform their side of the story as if it deserves sympathy or credibility. I consider myself incredibly lucky to have ended up in a loving and safe home, but I know all too well that many others don’t. That’s why this show is not only irresponsible, it’s downright insulting. It’s appalling that Disney and Hulu would purchase the rights to a story from an alleged child abuser, then greenlight a series that doubles down on a narrative that minimizes, excuses, or outright erases the abuse that took place. When did Disney stop caring about families and children? To everyone involved in the making of this show: you should be ashamed.
