God of War 2 is the worst of the series, one of the most bizarrely overrated action games. It has the worst boss fights (especially the mini-bosses and pseudo boss fight puzzles), tedious one-off sections, worst combat (the slowest and most shallow blades and secondary weapons of the entire series), and quite possibly the worst story ever in a video game. The original God of War is still to this day the finest action game I've ever played, I don't know how the second game turned out to be several tiers below in overall quality. Although God of War 2 doesn't deserve a 0 score (probably a 5 o 6), I simply chose it because of how overrated this game is. At least God of War 3 redeemed the franchise and Santa Monica Studio.

I hope one day there will be a serviceable HD port of one of the finest action games ever made: God of War. But until then, please don't waste your time with this collection. Why? It wasn't Bluepoint's fault, it's because they were given the botched PS2 code instead of the original one. The later botched PS2 version would permanently run like **** after a certain music track starts playing, but the PS3 port doesn't really have this slowdown. The remastered version still inherited one crippling flaw, and one new substantial flaw. The substantial flaw is that the game's widescreen mode is exactly the same as the PS2's, meaning that it just crops a big part of the 4:3 display on the top and bottom to present it in 16:9 widescreen. It's not widescreen, it's zoomscreen. The crippling flaw is this: ****-in-GoW-Haven-t-tried-GoW-II-yet/td-p/24886 The port of God of War II is completely fine other than the CGI cinematics also being cropped to fake 16:9 widescreen in the same fashion as all of GoW 1's gameplay and cutscenes. Oh, and the fact that it's God of War II.
