Looking for a Valentine’s Day movie with romance, comedy, and just a little bit of brutal murder? Heart Eyes is here to steal your heart… and maybe stab it a few times. Olivia Holt and Mason Gooding bring the charm, the laughs, and the "oh crap, we’re gonna die" chemistry, while a masked killer third-wheels their love story. It’s When Harry Met Sally—if Harry was also trying to dodge a serial killer. But does this rom-slash-com stick the landing, or does it trip on its own knife? Sam Wilson takes flight in Captain America: Brave New World, facing off against political conspiracies, the rise of Serpent, and a President with a serious temper problem—literally. With thrilling aerial battles, hard-hitting fight scenes, and Harrison Ford stepping in as Thaddeus Ross, this movie had all the pieces to be a standout. But the reshoots and story changes may hold this one back from being great. Find out in Thomas Richards full review on Couch Soup dot com!

Picture this: you’re driving home, a little buzzed on end-of-term drinks, when you see a car stranded on the side of the road. Do you stop to check it out? Nah, you’ve got a comfy bed waiting. Except—plot twist!—the news says there was a dead body in that car. Whoops. Now imagine you might’ve had something to do with it. Oh, and you’re possibly losing your marbles. Welcome to Blackwater Lane. This movie should be the kind of thriller that keeps you gripping the edge of your couch. Instead, it’s more of a “thriller” in the same way a burnt piece of toast is “exciting.” Wanna know why this promising premise ends up flatter than a day-old soda? Head to Couch Soup for the full (and brutally honest) review!

The Damned

User Score
CouchSoup
Jan 13, 2025
The Damned is an atmospheric monster story that relies much more on the anticipation of the scare rather than that of a cheap monster roar. Isolated and vulnerable, the fishing station is the perfect setting for this kind of story, and although it reminds me a ton of The Thing with its environments, the tone is so different that they aren’t comparable. The story itself kept me engaged from the beginning until the end, and that was only aided by the terrific acting performances from the cast. Read Iain McParland's full review on Couch Soup!

Twenty-five years after the original, Ridley Scott returns with a blood-soaked, revenge-fueled romp through ancient Rome that features Denzel Washington stealing every scene, some seriously wild emperor drama, and a new hero seeking vengeance in the Colosseum. The film does have surprising plot twists, questionable CGI monkeys, and enough historical liberties to make a history buff raise an eyebrow. Is the new Gladiator a cinematic champion or just another failed Hollywood sequel? Read the full review by Thomas Richards on CouchSoup dot com.
