Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury

Nintendo knocked it out of the park, yet again, with Bowsers Fury. 3d World is a different story. I will review each game based on their individual merits because of their staunch differences. 3D World A good game. Not great. Not bad . Good. Graphics? Good. Level design? Good. Controls? Good. Music? I think you can guess. Playing by yourself is a good time but you'll want to play multi-player to get the full experience. I haven't tried the online multi-player so I don't know how much lag there is. A game worthy of your time for sure, but it pales in comparison to the legendary 3d marios such as Mario Galaxy or Mario Odyssey. 7/10 Bowsers Fury This is what the future of mario should look like. The graphics are stunning at times (unless you're playing on handheld), the level design is fresh and intuitive, the controls feel like butter, and its more of an platforming collectathon. It feels like a mix of super Mario 64 and Mario 3d world itself, with a more open world feel. The only complaints I have would be the length(game is too short) and the fact that bowser can be a bit repetive showing up all the time. We NEED a full length version of this. 9/10 I rated the game collectively as a 9/10 because of the experience Bowsers Fury provides and the fun time 3d world is when you've beaten Bowsers Fury and want more content. A definite must have for the switch that I was not expecting it to be.

This game shows how ubisoft IS indeed capable of making a good game. There are a few flaws, however. - You are forced to use Mario. While I don't mind because I think mario is fantastic in this game (others don't like using him) it does hinder the team variety. - The game gets SOMEWHAT repetitive. Otherwise, a near must-buy for the switch

Before I delve into everthing I dislike about this game and more, let me get the positive stuff out of the way. - The experience I had with multiplayer was decent, there are much better multiplayer games out there, and even a good amount of better co-op platformers, however, this was some good fun. - Lots of new mechanics and powerups. Whether the amount of utilization is good or bad each got is subjective (I think they could have used some of them a bit more), but the quantity is impressive. - 8 direction movement. Whether this is good or bad for a game depends on the game, but in a focused platformer like this, I think it is best fit. - Level design is DECENT. - Most of the music was enjoyable. while some of it got on my nerves in ways remniscent of new super mario bros u., I enjoyed most of 3d world's band compositions. - Capation Toad levels were great. I haven't played treasure tracker, but I can already tell you to pick up that game instead. While there were some minor things here and there, and the fact that it is a mario game(characters, art style, etc.), that is about all of the positive things about this game that come to mind. If this sounds good, maybe this is a good buy for you, considering the price nowadays. NOW, where do I begin? How about the graphics? This game looks TERRIBLE. The thing is, these horrible graphics were easily preventable, if they spent more than an afternoon in the shadowing. While some levels look decent, most levels with any amount of sunlight look attrocious, because of the lackluster shadowing. There is also some levels where if you get to a certain section, you can't move back. Even though it came out 25 years later, this game has not caught up to super mario bros 3, even though both games were made by the same company. Speaking of the camera, even though the primary controller of the wii u has double sticks, there is still no free camera. ANYWHERE. Also, the abundance of auto scrolling levels are WAY too high. While I can tolerate a couple of auto scrollers, this is WAY too many. Even the final boss is an autoscroller! Without all of the artificial game lengtheners, this game is about 4-5 hours long. However, the collectible green stars that seem OPTIONAL at first are actually REQUIRED TO BEAT THE GAME. While this would usually be okay, as 3d land had that system too and it was no problem for me. However, not ONLY do you need a lot more green stars in proportion to 3D land, after you beat world 7, the final world(8) EXPECTS YOU TO HAVE 40 MORE. This is inexplicable and inexcusable, and you know why. Finally, as many critics have pointed out, this game has no central ideas or themes drving its purpose. It is essentially just a collection of levels. Even the individual worlds may claim to be a forest or desert world but only have 1 or 2 forest or desert levels. The game has no creativity beyond the powerups, similary to the New Super Mario Bros franchise. i haven't even mentioned the difficulty, atmosphere, story, or the price at launch. TL:DR game is fun, but has lots of major problems. Pick it up if you've played both mario galaxies and are hungering for a non-open world 3d mario platformer(big target audience, I know). 4/8

This might be the most bang for your buck game you can get on switch. It is only $10 and is about 5 hours long, compare that to a Nintemdo published release like Kirby Star Allies which us $60 and the same length, 5 hours long. Beyond that, the co-op mode and collectibles can get you about an extra 10 hours. "OK," you may say, "quality over quantity, right?". Fair enough. This game's puzzles are simple yet challenging and fun, perfect bite sized brain - teasers for the switch. Every single world introduces a new mechanic, and that mechanic is used a fair amount, not enough to feel tired, but more than just scratching the surface. The story is minimalist, yet the cutscenes are still charming and engaging. If you have an extra $10 don't go the wrong way.

Smash Ultimate is the 5th installment in one of my my game series. While I do consider it the best smash game, there are problems that could be fixed to make it even better. Pros- Same fun gameplay- "if it ain't broke don't fix it" Loads of single player content to sink hours into, great adventure mode which is 20 hours and unique classic mode battles for each chracter + more Performance is amazing, 60 fps on docked and handheld mode with 1080p and 720p respecively, game somehow doesnt crash with the infinite assist trophy glitch Probably the best muliplayer experience ive had, there is also lots of modes catered towards multiplayer Cons Online in general is frustrating, matchmaking hasnt been an issue for a while but it is very laggy and for some reason all i see are young links, pichus, and k rools with the occasional wolf Verdict Good game, fix online

Donkey Kong Country Returns is the best platformer on the wii. I recently bought the game at gamestop for my dustfilled wii and soon realized what I missed out of as a kid. I hear some saying its really hard and even frustrating, but thats because theyre getting frustrated at the game for dying when they shouldnt be, because all the deaths are the player's fault. The enemies arent OP, the controls arent unresponsive(and quite good for the wiimote), and the levels designs arent unfair. - That said, the game is hard. ys thts it -The gameplay is smooth and refreshing from other wii titles, and very satisfying. By that I mean it feels GOOD to footstool the enemy, it amazing to see that stupid bird fly towards the screen when you roll into it. I find that almost every level(espcially in the beach world) im sitting in my basement going like "NOTHING CAN TOP THIS" when the next level just goes ahead and blows the last out of the water -The art style is Very Donkey Kong(no complaints) The music is fricking amazing, even the soverworld music when you travel between levels I could jam out to for hours. In conclusion, buy this game and Im sorry this is my first metcritic review.
