Cyberpunk 20777
Dec 21, 2020
Reviewed on a Xbox series X and Xbox one 1 with a SSD. The long awaited and now super hated Cyberpunk is here! So I feel like its impossible to not mention the technical issues of the game. I want to report I've only played this on the 2 xbox systems as mentioned. So far I've has zero crashes and few to no bugs. I will however note that HDR is terrible on this game and absolutely broken. The colors are all but drained from the game and it looks totally washed out on my 4k display. I don't have junk tv either im playing on Sony x930c and a Panasonic Zt60 plasma. So that my main configuration is on a series X on a 1080p display. I have to first start out by mentioning that this is absolutely the most beautiful open world game i've played. The lighting in the game and reflections are night are stunning. The 60fps under performance mode on the Series X is the absolute best way to play on console bar none. I've had little to no frame rate drops or hitches in performance. The texture work is crystal clear too. In most games NPC look a whole tear down in quality vs the main characters but, this isnt the case here. The graphics really do show an evolutional step to a new generation. This however is at the expense that base console probably shouldn't have even been released. The music is totally rad. I'm loving all of it and the only complaint I have is that its not on enough in missions. The skill tree and leveling system is good but it is in no way unique or special. In fact this game is such a rip off of Deus EX I cant believe no one is pointing it out. If you liked Deus HR or MD you'll like this too even if its not nearly as good and is a blatant rip off. Cyberpunk isnt this massive revolutionary game it was toted up to be and will probably let people down based on hype and expectations alone. However there is a solid open world game here. The missions while not flushed out and as polished as they should be can be fun. The real experience here is just how exceptional the main story mission is. Everything revolving around the scripted story is aces where as everything else feels like slapped together content. Over all I think its really fun game and experience that you should get around too albeit maybe a little later once its patched more and cheaper.

Akiba's Beat8
May 22, 2017
So, jump to now and Akiba’s Beat is coming up. This is literally a game I bought without having read a single thing about it or even checked the section on Xseed forum. I went in with no expectations. I didn’t even know the genre of game it was. From some picture, I’d seen I thought it was going to be a music rytheme game actually. However, much to my surprise it was a jrpg. Awesome, I love those but, the vitas kinda saturated with those right? Xseed also publishes one of the best jrpgs the system has with them publishing the Legend of Hero games. So, what would draw me to this game. Everything, simply put everything. I instantly was drawn into the game because of the voice acting, the dialog and just the general sense of humor the game has. I remember years ago I’d gotten on Xseed because I thought it was a such a waste of time and money to dub stuff. Without the great work on the dub for this game I wouldn’t be nearly invested as I am. The voice acting adds tons of charm to the game. My first biggest complaint came when I found the game didn’t work with the pstv. This normally means I’m not going to even bother putting it into my vita to play it. Well I gave in and much to my surprise the portable nature of it enhances the way I play it. The game works great in 1 to 3-hour long play sections. Every night I get to play some once my wife’s asleep in bed and I just play until I’m tired. It’s a perfect balance of pick up and play. The chapters are perfectly set for short sessions instead of long drawn out events. The story unfolds in a very similar way to persona. In fact, let’s just call it what is. It’s a persona rip off. You go into dungeons and you kill a person’s delusion. Does it **** because it’s a rip off of something? Hardly. In fact, the vita is flooded with things that rip persona 4 off from either a stylistic stand point, bonding event love. So, to fault one game for something that tons of people do is something I don’t really care about. Then comes the rip off of the tales of battle system. I love it, it’s simple its quick and it different. If you take 2 of the best systems and pair them together I’ve got no complaints. I always thought persona battle system were kind of boring so giving me a persona type world with a tales battle system is the best of both worlds for me. The game shines in the music department too. The main battle them and all of the additional battle music you get for your imagine attacks are great. The music doesn’t wear itself out either due to the brevity of its combat. While the game has many great things it’s not without its flaws. Number 1 the loading is awful. It’s just so terrible it makes you wonder how they released a game in this state. Akiba Beat is a victim of a low budget for sure. The last game used a much better engine that handle more things on screen and could load them way faster. You can tell the company didn’t put much money into this one as they went with the awful Unity engine. A high unoptimized engine that really only performs well on PC’s due to most people having outrageously higher specs than the current generation of consoles and the ability to load from vastly faster HDD and SDD. The game is also missing some polish due to budget. You don’t get to view or go into any stores and they’re all the same. The shop menus aren’t as deep as new games and comparing and equipping can’t be done in a smooth fashion in the store. The city is filled with emptiness ala persona 5 style of shadow people. And lastly the the cheapness of nothing being licensed. You won’t get to see any of Akihabara’s classic locals because they simply weren’t paying for them. If you’re going into Akiba’s Beat excepting Akiba’s Strip you’re probably going to be let down hugely. However, if you’re going into Akiba’s Beat looking for a fantastic action jrpg that’s great on the go, features tons of charm and features a fun battle system this will be for. This can easily be described as “Tales of Persona – Light Edition”. And theres absolutely nothing wrong with that if you’re looking for some enjoyable fluff. I give Akiba’s Beat a 8/10 and highly recommend it to tales and persona fans alike who aren’t looking to a seriously deep or complex game and mearly want something enjoyable to kill some time.

Ys: The Oath in Felghana7
May 10, 2017
So I finally set down to play what is normally praised as the best game in the series. After playing it to I agree? No, simply put absolutely no, not even close. First off I have to say that ys3 was never one of my favorite and in fact i'd say its the game in the series I always disliked to hearing that the game was being remade in a ys6 fashion ( a game that at the point was my favorite in the series ) I was thrilled. I got to play oath when it was brand new to pc and liked it a lot. However my friend who owned the copy moved off to college and that was that. I kinda forgot about. Years later here I am playing it. I started off by playing xseeds pc version and made it into the first cave the mines and fought the first mini boss. At this point I was absolutely loving the game and could see why everyone else was too. Well I picked of LOH **** on psp at the same time and completely forgot about oath. So since I noticed almost every rpg I beat is only on portable systems and during my CQ shifts in the army (24 hours of being awake guarding empty rooms for no reason) I figured hell I enjoyed oath on pc and loh6 on psp was amazing too lets pick up oath. I find a collected edition sealed for $25 and that was that had to be mine. The game starts off in a ok manner. I didnt much care for the intro compared to say ys6 or ys4 but none the less it wasnt off **** graphics are also of my favorite Falcom era and style ( ys6/loh6 ). So lets break everything down into sections to see exactly I feel went wrong. Music: The first maybe 5 or so songs you hear are pretty awesome and enjoyable in their new arrangements so you'd naturally assume the whole ost was gonna be like this. Wrong. By time I was out of the mines I no longer wanted to hear anything in the new ost. Thankfully it included the x68 and pc88 versions which I vastly prefer to the new ost. Theres a few tracks here and there that are amazing arranged but for the most part the synth music miles ahead of any of this new orchestrated composition. I have to say one of the things I hate the most about the ost is how un enjoyable the boss theme is. After recently beating ys4 on vita this ost simply pales in comparison. I have to say ys6 or 4 have the absolute best osts in the series and 3 not so much. In fact i'll go on record and say that ys3 arranged ost is to over done it leads to blandness. I much rather listen to the pc engine ost ( this pretty much goes for every ys game though ) or the classic. After you're out of the tigra mines I dont think I liked a single track in the game and would say most of it is meh. Story: Yeah.... Ok so ys3 was original a 5 hour game. The pce, snes and genesis translations have all been crap but, where previous companies failed Xseed brings over a faithful translation. However a faithful translation of bland crappy story is still a bland crappy story. The whole story is moronically stupid. Gameplay: Following in the ys6 style engine you've got a pretty solid footing. However what felt neat and innovative by switching swords in ys6 is gone in Oath. Oath uses a lame magic system akin to the rings of ys2. Magic is so forced that it feels more forced than character switching in Celceta. Magic is so heavily used that the default controller setup rendered the game unplayable to me. I had to map my magic to the R button to be able to use in accordance with jumping. How in the world you could use it on the default setting without using a claw like hand grip is beyond me. I also find it ever so annoying that if you remap your controls that you'll have to use whatever button you've got as attack to talk to people but once a menu opens up you've gotta use X and O and it doesnt take your remapped buttons in account for the menus. My attack button is set to triangle and my jump is O. The weapon upgrades are the absolute most useless thing ever. A maximum of 4 points stronger for your weapon and 2 for shield and armor? Useless plus the simple fact is you cant get raval ore anywhere near the / during the earlier parts of the game. You always just end up having enough money to buy the vastly better set of equipment than you do upgrading the **** game also has to have the absolute biggest gape between regular enemies and bosses. I get to the point where the enemies are doing 1 to 3 hp of damage yet go to a boss and get hit for around 50 to 75 damage per hit. Also every time you go to new era its like you're level 1 again and the grind hits. Granted so does the exp you'll almost always gain around 3 to 4 levels effortlessly before you feel any effort to level. Granted all of this could be because of the mode im playing on which is Nightmare. I find nothing is done better than Ys6 and from the little bits of ys origin i've played it's also vastly better. I think Oath is the weakest of the 3 in terms of gameplay. Over all I wouldnt say Oath is a terrible game but, the praise is gets is insane. 7/10

Ridge Racer (2012)8
May 10, 2017
Once again another Sony system has come out and that means its time for a new Ridge Racer. Now this game has been getting some really harsh reviews that are only some what fair. The main grip is the content of the game. The game comes with a handful of cars(4 by default I believe) and 3 tracks. Now the thing is this is the Japanese version people are talking about. The us version instantly gives you 5 more cars, 3 more tracks and some extra songs. While not an over whelming amount of content it truely is enough. In Ridge Racer theres only 3 car handling types anyways so every car is just a reskin of those 3 cars. Music: The music is awesome as usual. This is one of those you hate it or love it things. If you love Ridge Racer games you will love this. Its driving mostly technoish and viby music. Its all very fitting and it makes you wanna drive fast. Graphics: Its either this or Uncharted. Nothing else on the system looks even remotely impressive yet except these 2 games. Ridge Racer for psp was and still is one of the best looking titles ever released for psp. You can assume Ridge Racer for the vita will be pretty much the same. The interface is probably the sharpist and slickest i've seen in the series. Gameplay: Its arcade style fun. If you liked part 6,7 or, the 3ds one there is absolutely no way you wouldnt enjoy this. There is one oddity that ****. You cant set the L and R buttons to be your shifting up and down for the manual transmision. Lastly I feel that the content should be mentioned. There is a **** ton. It may not be in tracks and car select its in races. Constant download missions appear that you can have which adds tons of value if you've got access to some wifi ( the 3g for gaming is a joke and the 3g model of the system should be shunned ). This also features one of the most solid online vs modes that RR series has seen out of part 6 on 360. Fans freet not if you loved RR this is worthy purchase and for $30 you'll defanitly get your value out of it.

Conception II: Children of the Seven Stars7
May 10, 2017
A super solid dungeon crawler that might not be for everyone but for those who it do appeal to its fantastic. First let me start out by saying the music is simply fantastic in this game. With multiple dungeon and battle themes you wont be getting bored of the music selection at all. Its all so very catch and got that nice Jpop feel. Also all the characters have their own theme music. Presentation is top notch. The art style and cutscene are of the highest product quality you'd expect from a anime style game. The gameplay: Its grind heavy. Most of all the fun comes from creating star children. To do this you build your social links like you would do in persona. With higher social bonds you get the abilities to "classmate" which allows you to make children. The children are pretty much minoins. Think of them like your own persona pokemon. Leveling up finding new skills and getting the ultimate ones is just to much fun. Plus theres ton leveling up too. The only issue people are having with this game realistically is the crude humor. It is very much your typical troppy anime game. Sexual content is high and for some that might offend. If you love your silly japanese high school animes like azumanga you're gonna just love this. *Follow up: After around 15 hours into the game you're gonna feel a lot of drag and repitition. The greatness that the game sets up wears out fast and really brings the game down a ton. My intital love of the game gave it a 9 but its really a 6 after the begining wears off so the game average out to be an enjoyable but eventually boring experience.

I just don't get where everyones coming from. I've beat every numbered ff game sans 11, 12 and 14. FF15 isnt a bad game but man is it medicore. Its probably one of the most disopointing meh games in the series. First lets address the ps4 version. The ps4 version offers a crisper picture coming in at a locked 1080p. The game hits and stays at 30fps. There is sometimes a oddity in jerky animations but i'd say this is unnnoticable to most normal peoples eyes. The ps4 version has less issues with texture pop in than the xbox one version. The xbox version runs a 720p to 900p. When the games running at 900p things look pretty much as solid as the ps4 version however, its running in 720p the vast majority of the time and honestly the picture looks soft and blurry as hell. The xbox version suffers from textures pop in and not loading fast enough a lot. This happens when theres not enough free space on the HDD. It has to load so much data that if the ff15 data isnt on the outer quicker part of the HDD then it cant load fast enough to keep up with the textures. I've got 67 hours on the xbox one version and my friend has 200 hours on the ps4 version with everything complete. I myself on xbox only have 90% of the achivements and tons of pointless bland quest to do. He has literally every single quest, hunt, etc to include the bonus dugeons. It shys away from the strong story telling of previous games to have a paper thin, poorly wrote, awfully explained and pretty much flaws flat on its face with its lack of depth. You build absolutely no emotion connection with luna. Its a technical mess, glitches amass. Popin, textures loading awfully, the game having load times that make the neogeo cd look like lighting comparitly. Aimless pointless traveling thats early to mask loading issues. Games crashed on me 3 times my friends have all had it at least crash once. Im talking about just serious bugs everywhere. This isnt being repoarted from someone whos put 6 to 30 hours into the game. The battle system lacks any depth. Its mostly just hold b. The magic system is junk feels like a after thought. The skill tree is **** Things costing 333 and above will simply almost never get bought. You'll be max level and no where near the ap you need for anything. Most of the skills you will soon realize are useless and not thought out. Especially all the ones to enhance the ammount of AP you get. They cost so much that they negate anything wasted into them. The graphics are all over the place. Some times looking like a last gen game and not even a good one to the next minute blowing your mind. Hallow gameplay. Most of the game is the same damn quest over and over an over. If I wanted that i'd play a western rpg. I want my quest to have real uniqueness with a story to drive them. I've literally fixed the same guys car like 3 times. The hunts have no meaning except exp. This game is literally Fetchquest Fantasy 15. Dialog repeatition. They're trying to build up your emotional bond and people seem so captivated by this hallow experience. You're out of unique dialog or any building of bonds by around 7 hours into the game. If you dont want a story and you want questing and you dont even want a final fantasy or anything that resembles a final fantasy maybe you'll enjoy this. This is clearly the mind of western rpg or mmo mentality spilling into a single player game. To each his own but, the over whelming positivity and hype for this game is baffling. I've yet to meet a single person who likes the game in person and it seems to just be an online presence of this over hyping.

Forza 5 is a solid game that offers the best gameplay the series has seen yet and one with stunning graphics! But thats pretty much its only major improvement. Its a totally incomplete product. Its huge lack of tracks, cars and music( as in none at all but 1 song) make you wonder wtf they where thinking. Forza 4 in every way offers a better content. The game tries so hard to milk you into buying credits by making it nearly impossible to afford cars. Also gone is winning cars for completing events. The games fun but i'd rather of just had a higher resolution forza 4 with more cars.

Forget what the haters say, this ones here and its awesome! Having played all the other DMC games I was at first not attracted to this game because, like everyone else I didnt like the character style. However once I played the demo I was over it as I knew the gameplay was solid. Graphics: These are the best the series has had to offer. Ninja Theory defiantly steps up their game and shows off some amazing visuals. The stages are not only the best i've seen in the series, they might be some of the coolest and best i've seen in a action game ever. Whats even more impressive is how great this game looks and its running on such an outdated game engine unreal 3 ). Audio: The audio is kick ass. However this time is licensed music. Its all perfectly chosen and fit the game perfect. Its a blend of metal, rock and techno depending on the stage. Since its not just game music its actually stuff that you'd probably wanna just listening to for hearing pleasure too. Gameplay: The game plays is awesome. Dante feels more like nero from part 4 in this one with his angelic and demonic grabs working just like neros arm grab. Imho this is fantastic as nero is my favorite DMC play style in the whole series. The game does suffer from some flaws however. Its vastly too easy. You're gonna just instantly wanna start on the hardest difficulty thats available from the start. Another thing it it seems impossible to cancel out of a move mid action. Story: DMC has always had terrible stories. This one at least tries and it does much better than any previous entry. However its still nothing to write home about. Over all this is the best DMC period. I really think people are missing out because they dont like Dantes new look and more "edgy" personality. Even though I honestly think his more edgy personality is more realistic than his over the stop shannagins of previous games. If you're a fan of the genre its a must have! Go pick it up now.
