Fallen Enchantress: Legendary Heroes9
Oct 26, 2014
Elemental has come a long way, indeed. **** has learned from its mistakes and Legendary Heroes is now a very good game. I appreciate receiving the game for free since I bought the original Elemental shortly after release. It's fun and challenging with a good amount of variety and replayability. There are still areas that could be improved such as animation bugs and combat glitches and I would have given this an 8.5 but the system on metacritic doesn't allow it. It's definitely better than an 8 so 9 it is.

Sid Meier's Civilization: Beyond Earth1
Oct 24, 2014
Another thoroughly bad iteration of the franchise. Horrendous UI and AI, horrific diplomacy and uninteresting barbarians. Firaxis needs to bin this turkey and work on a 64 bit Civ VI that restores glory to this once "do-no-wrong" franchise. About the only good thing I can say about it is that orbital layers are cool (something I have wished for since Civ II Fantastic Worlds) and I suppose that they had a demo so I didn't pay $60 for Civilization 5 with a pasted on Sci-Fi theme.

Very, very well done. Extremely polished with very few bugs and those are fairly insignificant. The game play is solid and the game is extremely fun. Paradox has really nailed it with this game.

I have been playing for free so far and I admit it has been fun. I don't know whether paying for things will be worth it or not. Time will tell I guess. Looking forward to the Celts. :)

It's quite an interesting game I think. It's not in the same mold as most Paradox games as it forces you to be very aggressive and conquest minded (understandable as you need to unite Japan) but it was fairly polished and bug free upon release. Beautiful graphics and a very well done atmosphere. I'd like to see an expansion with the Imjin wars versus Korea/Ming in the future.

Superb game. I'd give it a 10 except that it doesn't have multiplayer and it had a few balancing issues at higher levels sometimes. Other than that, you can't beat the price. Looking forward to Torchlight 2. :)

Very, very good game. The sandbox play is not for everyone but I quite enjoyed it as I love historical "what ifs". It's nice to see middle market developers like Paradox continuing to put out quality games.

Great addition to the game series. It's great the way this game series slowly builds upon itself, making itself better and better and better over time. Definitely recommended.

Sid Meier's Civilization IV: Complete10

Excellent value for the money. If you are looking for a truly great Civ experience in 2011, don't buy the **** number 5. Get this great game and make sure to try the incredible mods made for it after you've worn out the base game. One of the greatest games ever.

Another solid addition to the game series. Very good value for the money. Something we certainly can't say with the deluge of DLC these days. Highly recommended.

Incredible game. The series really reached its high point here. Incredibly fun to roleplay and totally immersive. Something we cannot say at all about it's **** number 5. I would truly recommend this game to anyone that loves a deep, complex, enriching turn based strategy game.

Great game. Other than some issues with the ATI card I had at the time, I've thoroughly enjoyed this game. Definitely the high water mark of the series.

Fantastic game. **** truly outdid themselves. Years of hard work from this middle market company have truly paid off. Can't wait for Gal CIv III which I am sure will come out in a couple of years. :) I'd give it a 9.5 if I could but there are no fractions so I'll round down to a 9.

It's funny how the "professional" reviewers finally grab their sacks when a middle market developer puts out a flawed game. Truth be told though, if I had rated this game on release, I'd have given it a 3. I think it's actually fun now and **** has bent over backwards to make it up to the people that bought the game in it's initial shoddy state. As of now, the game is now quite playable and I find it pretty fun. I think when the stand alone expansion comes out (Elemental:Fallen Enchantress) you'll see a truly great game.

I quite enjoyed it although it has it's share of issues including a persistent problem with the world market and a few other pesky bugs. The game has tremendous potential though. I think with a strong expansion pack, it'll become a classic.

Nice light hearted game that hopefully encourages more indie developers to put out interesting, creative games.

Even though the game had a near disastrous launch, it is a pretty good game now with Semper Fi. From the Motherland should raise it to excellent. This was a very ambitious project from a middle market game developer so I am inclined to be somewhat more understanding as compared to Firaxis and the piece of crap Civ 5. Hopefully Paradox has learned from their lesson and continues to put out quality products in the future.

Incredibly bad, nearly non existent AI ensures this game will get a very low score from me.
The "professional" reviewers should truly be ashamed of themselves. Likely, they are $miling all the way to the bank though.

CivforBrains Jun 2, 2011 3 I've been playing Civ games since the Civ I and have thoroughly enjoyed them all. (Civ III was my least liked Civ though.) This latest Civ however, I have tried my hardest to like but I just can't do it. Besides an awful AI and terrible diplomacy, this game flat out isn't very fun at all. It's streamlined and frankly quite dumbed down. Expect a console version within 1 1/2 years after they finish their true love Civ World. It is truly incredulous how the "professional" reviewers gave this piece of crap such high marks. Something definitely is rotten in the state of the gaming industry. Likely there are more than a few guerrilla posters on here as well. The developers also seem more intent on releasing DLC than properly fixing the game. In my opinion, 2K Games is largely responsible for ruining the Civ franchise. I don't blame Jon Shafer very much. This game was clearly released at least one year too early. Not much more to say. Perhaps they'll right the ship with Civ VI but I wouldn't count on it.
