My favorite Black Mirror episode. Tension from beginning to end. Great performances, great writing, Radiohead.

Black Mirror: 3 Men Against Fire3

This is another one where it seems the characters only exist as a vehicle for the tech of the episode. The main character has no personality. There isn’t any real motivations conveyed for why he’s doing what he’s doing. Showing he’s some dumb kid that just joined the army just because doesn’t cut it for me. Raiman is hate-able but the rest of the cast just fall into the background. Forgettable folks. Boring plot for the most part. There are a few scenes I like though. I liked the concept of super soldiers being brought to the forefront..somewhere. The Mass is a thought provoking invention that is easy to connect with real life, especially now that VR and AR are being heavily invested in. And that brings me to the highlight of the episode: ARQUETTE. I like a good bad guy and he’s why I’m not rating it a one. It’s like the stuffed all the nuance and intrigue into this guy. He’s a chilling type of evil. The kind that’s unassuming, intelligent, rational and calm. I wouldn’t be surprised if there were people in the same positions of the same sentiments in this world. the main character’s best scene was with him. Thought provoking performance. Some wasted potential, but this is the one invention I wouldn’t be mad to see again if put to more interesting use.

Black Mirror: 4 Black Museum3

I’ll give it a 3 because there are 3 mini stories in this. I love the first and think it deserved a full episode in itself but the last two are **** I’m bored of cookies. I’m sick of them. I have type two diabetes because of all the eps about cookies. I get it-they we’re on alpha/beta but it’s still the same concept done over again and not made anymore interesting or transformative like USS Callister. WE GET IT: YOU CAN BE MEANNN TO THE COOKIES AND THEY DONT LIKE IT OK! I could of done with less of them and more commentary on that black museum sleaze’s (good character btw)time in the health care industry and of course more pain junky doctor.

Black Mirror: 4 Metalhead10

It’s probably an unpopular opinion but this is the best and most “Black Mirror” episode of series 4. No other episodes bring new technology to the forefront like this. I think what I’m missing in this season and 5 is the feeling of dystopia is gone. The feeling it being realistic and in the not too distant future. This tech (that everyone is familiar with by now. We’ve seen Boston dynamics test their bots for years) has completely destroyed the world and it’s beautiful. This is a beautifully shot episode. The black and white scenery is taken in by the protagonists and viewer in the beginning. Something really bad has happened, but the show must go on, we both have to move through the shell of what many think to be the end of the black mirror timeline. And it’s bleak, unforgiving, quiet, merciless, gritty, most of all NOVEL. Everything I value in the series The other eps just have this horribly cheesy vibe season 4 and 5. Bandersnatch is unique at least
