I really liked this show and found myself watching an episode or two every night until I reached the end. I will say that I was disappointed with the end and found the last two episodes a bit long and almost boring. That said I enjoyed it and would recommend it as a very entertaining Netflix option. The house itself was AMAZING and I for one would move into that mansion with not hesitation. The ghosts were more entertaining than scary. I think the family aspect was also a great part of the show. I loved the "This Is Us" feel and even described the show to friends and coworkers in that manner telling them if they like "This Is Us" they will really like this show. Its really is a family drama in which the family just happens to be haunted. What I did not like was all the doubt the adult children seemed to have when they experienced so much paranormal activity. How can people see the things that they see and through out their many experiences still insist they are seeing things? And I found the disrespect for their father quite disturbing as well. The kids were often downright mean to the old man and it was so obvious he loves them so much. Anyway... the end results is a very entertaining show with a lackluster ending.

What I really love about this show is that it is a FUN take from Star Trek among other Sci-Fi shows. Its refreshing to see a comedy that's fun but serious enough to be believable. For years we've had the unbelievable premises and often untouchable or unrepeatable morality assumptions of what we expect our future brethren to become. Shows that give us characters of quality and morals that seem impossible (at least considering today's mentality) are unachievable. Who can forget the Star Trek episodes that put the notions of "God", "racial and gender tensions, "meat-eaters and killing", "war and violence" or even "emotions" as notions that were primitive concepts only to find later that the show contradicts itself because too many religious folk were offended by the "lack of God" or too many racists were offended by ideas like Kirk and Uhura kissing, or even the rarity of men in the background of ST/TNG wearing mini-skirts. Episodes of the crew of the Enterprise finding the notion of eating mean repulsive only in later episodes to celebrate Thanksgiving with what would be assumed to be the corpse of a bird, even if it were tofu. The notion that animal consumption was repulsive was just not believable to our sensibilities. Here we have in The Orville a show that while obviously one would like to believe the characters are so evolved they are more human than most humans are (especially under the Trump regime). The show takes what could be considered as serious concepts (cheating spouses, single sex species, transgendered issues, etc.) along with notions of war, alien species, galactic treaties, not to mention awesome special effects and using the comedic talent of Seth MacFarlane have taken these very serious topics and made them fun and funny and at the same time have made them believable. Who could imagine a Captain's spouse cheating the Deep Space Nine? Who could imagine a Same-Sex couple on the Original Star Trek? Saurian Brandy? Yes but who could imagine a navigator drinking beer at 10 AM while excited to see his new ship? Or Hologram designers putting such twists in their games as to make their computer generated opponents Mexican criminals (as our President like to think of them) and instead of making them shoot the gamers, challenge them to a dance off? The special effects, the make up and costumes, the story lines, IT'S ALL FUN PEOPLE!! Where and what are these critics watching? We always were taught that human kind in the future would be better, non-racist, non-sexist, non-violent but we have all learned (especially in the last year) that our world and human kind can be an awful species and indeed racist, and sexist, and violent, all we have to do is observe our President and his words and actions and we will see these horrible traits from the people we imagine would one day take us to a magical world like the Star Trek series. The Orville gives us that magical world but in a way that I believe humans (and aliens) might truly act, especially given in the wake of **** soldiers on American streets. I LOVE "The Orville" and I hope that these few "professional critics" heed the word on the "Popular Vote". Look at the numbers above... 290 Positive 21 Mixed 43 Negative and yes I know these will change but imagine the critics and naysayers being our Electoral College and look who they chose for us. I hope that people will look at this show with an open mind and laugh and think "How much fun would that be" instead of the (even though I love the series) unbendable and often contradictory world of Star Trek. Anyway I give this show a rating of a 9 even though it really deserves a 10. I hope we give this show a chance.
