I'm not a big fan of this one. Let's start with THE biggest & worst enemy of ALL of the NG games from Black forward: THE CAMERA!!!!! It notoriously places your enemies BEHIND you, especially during boss fights, where they're unbalanced to begin with!!! I'm never a fanboy of studios or developers; I'm a fan of games & franchises. With that being said, if it's the Platinum Games way of cheesing up difficulty by throwing 10 enemies & a sub boss on a cliff ledge the size of a bathroom stall, or having 3-4 stages of each boss, it's absolutely no wonder why I don't own or play any of their games!! That steals any potential fun to be had. We've given passes to the horrible camera (even in the remakes & remasters), due to the offsetting fun factor. But, with the added BS this go round, it can't be ignored, especially due to the unforgiving & padded boss battle spikes. The graphics are clean, but the backdrops are super bland & repetitive, & so are the enemies. I don't like the Platinum tropes they've added to this series. I'm gonna finish it to see the end of this thinly veiled story, & because I paid for it. But, I definitely won't be spinning the block with this one.

This game is really deserving of a 7.5, but this doesn't give that option. The graphics are good, but the controls aren't as responsive as they should be, which is problematic in high intensity battles. The interactive nature of The Krypt has been replaced by "Invasions." It's way more difficult to grind & collect unlockables this go round, because the in-game currency is not the same as the Invasion currency, & none of which is to be confused with the "Seasonal" currency. The (not so) open world for Invasions is more linear than open. Not coming across certain items needed to unlock the other portions of the map, can be a completionist nightmare. Can't buy them from the in-game merchant,& are segregated behind immovable barriers. Oh, did I mention, the keys to the chests cost **** kind of money that's not plentiful, making the grind even more frustrating. Honestly, Mortal Kombat X/XL are the best in the franchise, to me. Story, fighting mechanics, game flow, etc., are all better than ****, this game isn't bad.

As a port of a PSP game AND a prequel to GTA VC, it's not too bad. Albeit stripped down as well, my biggest knock was the convolution of the story. There weren't enough flushing out tie-ins to make the story feel fluent, & make more sense to its direct predecessor, which is the story follow up.

This game was an industry changer!! In 2024, I don't understand why this game is shaded when compared to Vice City & San Andreas. Even with a silent main antagonist, it takes zero away from this experience. Skip the "definitive edition" version. This original version just has a certain character when played in its original form. The ONLY knock that I'd give, are certain "quality of life" controls. Otherwise, don't short this game.

The potential for this game, left room it to climb sky high. The biggest issues: #1 - albeit not as bad as it's been made, the story isn't too bad. Kinda dull & somewhat lifeless (you grow zero attachment or fixation to any characters), but understandable. #2 - the puzzles are extremely cheesy, especially how some locks have to be broken, & some enemies need to be defeated...... which leads to #3 - the aiming mechanics can be terrible at times, especially when dealing with the final boss. & Finally #4 - how the special weapons, like the shield & invisible cloaking works. When either are activated, they're immediately lost when attempting to attack, leaving you highly vulnerable. Had I spent more than the $8 that I did, it would be more disappointing. But, at this price, it's worth a shot, especially to use the Glaive!!

Definitely, 1 of THE best FPS ever!! Setting the game trailer debacle aside, this game looks fantastic, even in 2023. The Helghan soldiers being somewhat bullet sponges (head shots knock off helmets & they continue the fight, & their flack jackets absorb major artillery), it's still an adrenaline run throughout the game. If you still have a working PS3, I recommend you scoop the trilogy, as it's very low priced, as I type.

I didn't buy this game initially, because the marketing didn't make it look appealing, or create a draw to it. In fact, it wasn't until I played & completed Resistance 2, when I finally bought this, as the "greatest hits" edition. This game, & the entire trilogy as a whole, was fantastic. Understanding, as a launch title, it was feeling its way around. A new story premise, although with a lot of the same FPS mechanics of the day, makes this game very solid. If you're late or absent from this series, it's definitely priced for a (re)visit, today.

If you allow this game to stand in its own space, it's not that bad. However, if you hang on to the original, supposed "Halo killer" narrative, then you'll have sold it back, like I did, the first time, before I repurchased, & finally completed the story. With the Helghan having bullet sponges for flack jackets (they truly eat bullets throughout the entire franchise), & this game being super repetitive at times, it can be enough to frustrate & turn you off. But, if you power through, like I did eventually, you'll share my view.

Me, I saw this as 2 games that I was going to buy, for the price of 1 (which held true, as I had a $20 discount from Best Buy, on drop day). Both games did not disappoint, although the story for IW wasn't the strongest. For those that have not played it, now that it's cheap, I recommend giving it a run. My 2 biggest complaints surrounding this game: #1 - the stripping down of the playbook from 2k5. Can't understand why that happened,& was a thing to do. #2 - Players retire EVERY SINGLE YEAR from the league. The known talent pool could've been cultivated & grown, to where there could've been a multiple season franchise. Since this is a video game AND these players are ALREADY RETIRED, the fear of "progression" could've been suspended, but the art of contract negotiations could've been very real. The life of this game should've/could've been much longer. Even though 2k5 is the better game, pound for pound, this was the next best thing, & I STILL play this, to this day.
