Agatha Christie's novel, Murder on the Orient Express, is no stranger to adaptation, which makes Kenneth Branagh's task a difficult one. A challenge that Kenneth Branagh seems to embrace, flexing with delicate and creative camera work, gorgeous cinematography and a prestigious cast the size of which can make you choke, Branagh found little things that make his adaptation unique if you know where to look, without soiling the source material. Branagh behind the camera is one thing, but what makes this film truly unique from its siblings is the performance of Kenneth Branagh as the great detective Hercule Poirot. Bragnah, very apparently using his theatre prowess and love of Shakespeare creates a powerhouse of a performance along with adding moments which allow other stars such as Michelle Pfeiffer and Josh Gad to shine. The film itself with an overly serious tone allows you to find humour in that seriousness but does not take away from the dramatic and emotional beats when they hit, and they hit very well. Branagh is far too underrated with his go as Poirot both in front of and behind the camera and I'm excited to see what other works he has in store for us to enjoy as the iconic character, if only to give David Suchet a run for his money. 9.3 out of 10

The Banshees of Insherin aspires to mean something, which in fact, it does, but it does a poor job of making me care. The two main characters suffer from dullness for 90% of the Film, which is no fault of the actor's Colin Ferrell and Brendan Gleeson. And though the dullness may have been intended, it makes for dull viewing. The Film seems to be so proud of its symbolic elements that it's perfectly content not to work out the actual story in a meaningful way. Highlights acting wise goes to Kerry Condon and Barry Keoghan, who add some much-needed life to this tale. There are things to enjoy, such as beautiful cinematography and soaring landscapes, enough to make one wish to head to Ireland immediately! There are moments of humour and seriousness that make you think that the story may lead somewhere and move forward in a way you won't expect, but it somehow ends up being repetitive and not very satisfying. For film buffs and lovers of slow burn, there are metaphors and gems to uncover, but for casual viewing, this is frustrating and overly long at best and seems to lack an extra kick or spice to make it feel worth my time. With heightened expectations and promise of mastery, I found the Film lacking and found the comparison to Shakespeare laughable and saw nothing but a plastic shell of what the movie could have been. 4.4 out of 10

A film with good intentions that succeeds in its aim to showcase the prowess and humbleness of a hero in one of the darkest times in the history of our world. Andrew Garfield again does a fantastic job in this role as the innocent and dedicated young Desmond Doss, with Teresa Palmer taking lines of dialogue that could easily be turned into something unbearingly cheesy but making it sweet. With battle sequences made to turn the stomach, this film takes a blend of darkness and the brutality of war, not shying away from the darkness so that the light of this film may shine, hopefully, to inspire a fascinating remembrance of this incredible true story. 9.4 out of 10

While clearly being inspired by better films such as Hot Fuzz and some of Guy Ritchie's works, this film is fun, energetic, and quite hilarious, not taking itself too seriously in the best way. While far from perfect, If you're looking to put a smile on your face or just have a good ole time, I highly recommend this "Murder on the Orient Express" on meth. 7.7 out of 10

Unexpected, but by no means in a bad way. Large in spectacle but perhaps not as deep and coherent as some have expected from Jordan Peele's work. However, after a pretty slow start, this film is chilling, dark, quite comedic at times, and above all else, entertaining... 8.2 out of 10

Mainstream studios strike again! Sadly this film is nothing but a disappointing recycling of something that was once great... Providing nothing new or exciting, giving tensionless action in a series that relies on spectacle and thrills, gives none. With a premise that somewhat provides this franchise with a chance to redeem itself gets wasted, and instead, we receive an uninspired script and actors who seem to be miserable and rightfully so. Visuals are the only saving grace in this film which is hopefully the last of this **** typhoon of a franchise. 2.7 out of 10

The definition of boredom and wasted potential. Exhausting to watch, with a wasted lead who gave her all to make it work... Taking a premise that should be interesting and possibly thought-provoking into a general, bland, dumpster fire. 1.5 out of 10

The Judge packs an emotional resonance that too few films accomplish... Lassoing you into a story with dynamic prowess. Wonderfully crafted, with outstanding, moving performances from Downey Jr and Robert Duvall that in of themselves make it worth it. 9.1 out of 10

Bizarre but oddly not bizarre enough, this fun little adaptation is worth watching but, unfortunately, is not as bonkers as one might think a Tim Burton film of Alice has the potential to be. 6.3 out of 10

A Walk Among Tombstone's story is a battle against total depravity… Which makes the motivation of Neeson’s character riveting and it’s story engaging... Most of the time.

Even with welcome performances by Depp and Rush as their respective characters and a score that once again impresses, this shallow, overly long, character develop-less adventure may have checked the right boxes for the studio but, in doing so, lacks any emotional drive or pretty much anything that made the originals so loved in the first place. Except, of course, a charming Captain Jack Sparrow.
