This is one of the most beautiful games in more ways than one. The graphics, story, themes, and atmosphere are so beautiful done that this game will stick with you for many years after playing it. While the gameplay is less than ideal (you can literally defeat the end boss with sticks you found at the beginning of the game) and the ending is pretty corny, this game is truly an 'experience'. It carries stage themes of the nature of AI, how humanity hides their true feelings, and how people truly are different on the inside really digging into the core theme of 'what makes us what we are?' in a quiet and solemn way. It almost makes me mad how the controls are less than ideal and the leveling and weapon mechanics are so odd, otherwise this could have been a perfect game.

This is one of my favorite Atlus games, hands down. The plot is mature and not in a gory/sexy way, but as a story about being an adult and genuinely adult problems such as marriage and commitment. In a world where any anime-looking game is almost always about some teens saving the world or highschool life, this story is fresh and I wish the persona series made by the same company would take notes. The gameplay is also great. It is a straightforward puzzle about climbing a blocktower by moving blocks to make a path to the top, like a reverse 3D tetris in a 3D. I'm glad they didn't opt for something more done like another bejeweled clone or some generic platformer. I laugh at all the bad scores from people who are only giving it a bad score because it was hard. It is hard, but it is an M rated game with adult themes, this isn't meant to be an easy little kid game! The music is also stellar with both original tracks and remixes of classical music from artists like Beethoven and Chopin. This is also a game where ever single choice you make feels like it really matters. Every one. I am sick to death of games giving the players dialog choice but they don't actually do anything. Even if you find the block puzzles aren't your thing, you must admit it is a unique game that has real effort put into it.

A horror game not for the faint of heart. A mysterious game with beautiful imagery that you really can't forget. While the plot is so confusing you may have to play it more than once to get it, it is still a great game. The game play is fine with hard battles to stress how helpless your main character is in this world, but may become annoying to many players. Instead of focusing on death or common supernatural monsters like demons and zombies, this game focuses on more realistic fears such as humiliation, the cruelty that children can have to other children, having to hurt innocent things, and other more grounded fears (though there is monster elements). The game also uses the unreliable storyteller, where much of the visuals and story are purely symbolic in the way a dream is, giving the game a feel like Alice in Wonderland where Alice was bullied by other girls until it changed her Wonderland into a nightmare. I truly hope this game doesn't get forgotten.

This is what horror games should be. A dark, mature almost visual-novel-esqe game with a point-and-click format that has almost every type of horror prevalent from Lovecraft-ian imagery to full physiological horror to raw violence. The story is a genuinely mature one with taboo themes like marriages braking down and mindsets of suicidal people that is hard not to appreciate. The game is truly unique. It is one of the few games to have a middle aged women as the protagonist and does not shy away from exploring that. The art style is rough and it really fits the harsh story. It also strays away from using 'horror' as a cheap label that just means 'has monsters' like many other horror games and is about things that are genuinely horrific (but it does include supernatural elements). But all games have their downsides. Some of the choices and puzzles are bordering on random and the best ending is more-or-less impossible without a walk through. But this really is a must play game for any horror fan.

Simple fun. This is basically animal crossing lite or a mini version of animal crossing. No, it has less to do and see than the main games, but it is a free mobile game so what did you expect? It does fall into the traps that other mobile games do with a heavy amount of in-game purchases, but the game is totally playable without them and most of the purchases are for cosmetic things or to speed up things that take IRL time to complete. Overall it is just really harmless and an OK into to animal crossing if you aren't already familiar with the series.

Great game, but this isn't the greatest game ever like some reviews are saying. The gameplay is probably some of the best in the industry right now. Seriously. The graphics are top tier and even the freaking menus are sexy. As a game it is by far the best persona game. And as for blending a visual novel with an RPG it does the best of balancing the story and gameplay. But the story, the game at times feels like it was written by 2 people - one who wanted to tell a edgy but big young adult story about rebellion and the abuse of power and the other wanted to make this a typical rom-com harem anime. It also has some serious problems like who arcs that could have been removed (does anything important happen in the bank section other than getting a new teammate?) and Morgana's palace long temper tantrum near the end. Overall I think it is the best persona game so far, but not the best game ever. EDIT: Changed my score from a 8 to 9 now that I'm partway through Royal. Will do a review of that later.

It had a good idea but got greedy. The animations, jokes, and characters match the series perfectly and will endear any fan of the original. The base game is a simple city-builder tycoon game witch lends to variety and creativity. But then it added a battle system that is annoying instead of fun and events that are very much pay-to-complete, with many fan favorites buildings and characters only obtainable through real world purchase. It could have been good, such a shame.

A boring game where you will constantly be hit by paywalls where you must pay up or be forced to wait around to continue with the game. Instead of taking a note from visual novels and using character busts, the lifeless characters idle while making strange expressions and movements as you read text. The plot is like a very boring Harry Potter fanfiction, at least as far as I got before I deleted this blasted game. Your best friend is an annoying nerd that you may want to strangle before you hit the first paywall. And the graphics are like a mobile, cheap sims game. It even has the guts to ask you for a review right before the first paywall. The only redeeming quality was the music, but that is just because it sounds like the music from the movies it was based on. Shame on the game makers for making such a cash grab.

An interesting idea - a platform that lets you create and read visual novels created by users, but doesn't work out. Many stories require 'gems' (bought with real world money) and most of the stories are created by pre-teen girls focusing on getting pregnant, love triangles, or are never finished. While there are a few really good stories, they are so buried under garbage it isn't worth it.

A sequal to the spin off nobody asked for. Just like PQ, the gameplay isn't for everyone and is grating if you were looking for the more streamlined playstyle of the other modern persona games. It isn't bad, but is clunky and takes getting used too. The plot is nothing special and you can see the ending coming a mile away. The characters are dumbed down flanderizations that get old fast and are crammed in since there are so many of them between persona 3, persona 4, persona 5, and the new cast members. I really don't know why anyone thought this game needed to be made.

Outdated but not bad. While the game is seriously outdated and barely playable for modern players, the story has real charm even if it is simple. It isn't hard to see why this game sparked a sequel. the characters aren't deep, but they are all pretty likeable for what they are. I think a lot of people dismiss this one just because it isn't as flashy as the games that came after it. And the OST has some serious bops.

Don't bother unless you plan on spending a lot of money. The game is a mix of dating sim and dress up. You pick options during the story but need to dress up your character with special items to continue. It is really simple and nothing super special. The art and music are fabulous, and at first the game seems great, but quickly becomes nearly impossible to complete without spending real money. I couldn't even get through ONE character's route before it became obvious that the amount of grinding needed to get through was barely even possible and you would almost have to pay to continue. I understand game makers need a way to profit from free games, but this was just dishonest and they could have found a better way to do it - it honestly would have been better if they had a free demo and a full version that cost money or some free routes but other pay-only routes or something.

It isn't bad, but is clunky and takes getting used too and the mapping is less than fun. The plot, however, is boring. It feels more like a parody of persona game than an official game.

Good game, but far from perfect. The game has some really good elements, a concrete story, and great battle system, but this is probably my least favorite persona game. The plot is TOO happy (with music to match) and it makes the game being about murder off putting and you'd wonder how a game that is a cousin of the SMT series came out with this. The characters are so really boring - other call it 'realistic' but some of the characters life issues come across as whiny and makes them unlikable. They are also the type to sit around and wait while someone is dying in another dimension and it feels in character considering the snarky comments they like to make towards eachother. If I wanted this kind of dull and mean I'd go talk to random people off of the street and not play a video game. The weather mechanic also was a lot less straightforward than following moon cycles like Persona 3. But when it is good, it is really good. The murder storyline was good, the twists were good, and the use of 'your true self' laid bare is good as both a story beat for developing characters and great for boss battles and creative imagery in the dungeons. So while I don't think it is unplayable, I think 'overated' would be a good word for this game.

Good game but damn this thing is edgy. The game does a good job of blending school life, dating sim, and RPG together. It has good voice acting and has my favorite OST of the persona games so far and has a good battle system and social links flesh out characters. But damn this game has the subtly of taking a baseball bat to an antique vase. The death imagery is so over the top it - with coffins, water becoming blood, and shooting yourself to fight - it can be funny and not scary and it hammers it in the imagery from the first few minutes of the game. If you take a shot for every-time someone mentions a dead loved one or talks about death and you'll have an untimely death too! The school life aspect helps things from getting to narm-y but near the end it isn't able to help anymore. The game also has some pretty bad pacing and some of the jokes have aged badly. The cast is great and varied, but damn the bickering and drama between them gets annoying. The final part, 'The Answer', has one hell of a difficulty curve and has some of the character's worst moments, but does help give closer to those who weren't satisfied by the ending of the main game. Good game, but not for everyone.

How do you tell if someone watches let's plays of persona games or plays them themselves? Ask them what they think of persona 2 - if they don't mention the outdated gameplay they didn't play. While the characters are unique, likable, and memorable, and the story is unique, the story is mess that is chopped up between 2 games so it barely makes sense. The story often avoids telling you where things are or what to do next, which can become frustrating at times and often lacks focus. Some features, such as the romances, are so pointless I don't know why they bothered adding them. I think a lot of people overate how good the story is because of how edgy it is and because the characters hold up so well. The gameplay and graphics are outdated, but it is an old game so that is not its fault so I won't even factor that in since the mechanics were standard for their time. If you play, be prepared for high encounter rates and very, very old-school pixel art.

I had higher expectations for this one. This game does not work well (some features straight up don't work) on older phones and it is a very gacha-based. The in-game graphics were hit-or-miss, I'm not sure if the quality was just downgraded on my older phone though. The character designs of the human characters ranged from simple to crazy, I wish they had pick one or the other because it was jarring flipping back and forth. The characters are great personality-wise, but the story is a little TOO simple and I was annoyed by how simple and meaningless the dialogue choices for the main character felt. I was also annoyed by how little we got to see/know the villain. I love SMT so I was thrilled for a mobile game, but ended up deleting this one.

Fine but slows down later. At first I was really enjoying this game, it was exactly what I expected from a mobile version. The game did really start to slow down around LV 20, after that it becomes hard to progress for free, but the game lasted long enough and had enough free content before it starts to flatline that it didn't feel cheap or misleading. The graphics were great and being able to draw your own roller coaster tracks was fun (even if a little buggy at times). It is good for a fun time, just not a long time.

Not bad, but not great. The gameplay is super, suuuper simple - like 'this won't keep most people entertained unless you are a little kid' simple. Not to mention the game is very gacha based (as in you don't pick what you want - most characters/pokemon are decided from a lottery outside of some story based ones) so forget about 'catch'em all!'. I appreciate all the throwbacks to all the older games and the models and stuff are nice, but if the game play isn't good nothing else matters so it really depend on how easy you want your games.

This game was much better than I expected. It actually has a plot and would make sense if it wasn't about KFC at all and was just a parody of cooking animes and absurd dating sims. It is also much longer than you would think a game meant to advertise a restaurant would be and you do have to put in effort to get the best ending. The message, "Food that is simple but well done is better than fancy food you can't actually eat", was also good and actually unique - honestly it is a message I could scream at the folks on baking shows that make cakes that shoot fire and are mostly fondant and icing that nobody could actually stomach. But it isn't perfect. The options are often limited or really obvious, except for one 'boss fight' where the 'right' combination that is needed for the best ending is borderline random. The game also tries a little too hard at the 'lol random' humor. But at the end of the day, it DID make me want to eat some KFC. This was surprisingly effective as an advertisement as well as as a game so it did its job.

Really good as a free mobile game dress up game, but it is very expensive and slow. The game actually has a really good story. Seriously, I know you won't believe me, but the best thing about this dress up game is that it could easily have a really gripping anime based on it. Yes, there is pink and frills and flowers everywhere and it starts out fluffy and silly but gets gradually darker - my jaw dropped when the casualties of war became a major theme and a character actually got killed off and they showed blood. The art is also amazing, not just the clothing but the backgrounds and effects are all beautiful. The gameplay is very much like old pokemon contests where it is about clothing having values and you need to get the values to add up the way you want, actually having outfits that look nice doesn't matter and you will usually have to make super ugly mismatched outfits to win. It is more of a puzzle game than a dress up game. And there is big downsides. Many events can't be finished for free and many, many outfits you can't get at all if you don't pony up real money. Don't even think about 'collecting them all' unless you want to drop thousands of dollars. The game also takes a long time to add new chapters, and if you have collected all of the free clothing you don't have much to do between chapters other than the often expensive events. If you are a competitionist or you don't like waiting around skip this one, but if you are a casual player looking to kill some time this might do it for you.
