Sense: A Cyberpunk Ghost Story7
Jan 11, 2021
Not a bad game, and really not worth all the complaints about censorship, as there's nothing within the game that hasn't been seen a million times before, Red Colony released a couple of weeks ago had more big breasted women running around than this, and nothing was said about that. As for the game itself, it's a 2D ghost story, a pretty decent one too, a OK story follows, but I wouldn't really call it a Cyberpunk style game, as only the start of the game is set within the future setting, and with the main characters eye implants, nothing else is futuristic, in fact, it's kinda set within the past, as you're investigating a 100 year old curse, which places the game in 1983.

Pure retro heaven but a modern take on it, it's a shooter/fighter JRPG all tied together in a brilliant package, I already double dipped on this with the Switch and XB1 versions, it's that good.

After reading the description on here, I was looking forward to this, but after playing it for an hour or two, I was left feeling really disappointed, it's slow and janky, the walking animation feels out of time with your movements, and the jumping mechanics are awful, jumping from the very tip of the platform to land almost impossible jumps, and don't even get me started on the autoscrolling vehicle sections. Sound is OK, but I wouldn't say I felt like I was in a movie sound stage, far from it, it served its purpose but it was nothing special.

Deadly Premonition 2: A Blessing in Disguise9

I'm only a couple of hours into it, and so far I have zero complaints, it's everything I expected and more, zany animations and bonkers story, but I love it, sure it's got a few issues with FPS, but not enough to rate it down, and it's going to be patched anyway, either wait for the patch or just enjoy it now.

The game itself isn't terrible, by no means is it the next Resident Evil, but seeing as I believe it's written by a single student, it's not a bad effort, there's some decent tension created when trying to escape from the creatures and the sound is decent too. But what does let it down and make it almost unplayable (from an English point of view) is the text, it does state at the start that it's all machine translated, but it's soooooo badly translated that it's make almost zero sense, something about YouTubers, that's about all I could grasp, and it uses a text to speech program that sounds like it came from Windows 3.1 (remember that?) it's truly awful, and it lets the whole game down. Would recommend playing it in Japanese and forgetting the whole story and just have a bit of fun with it.

Burnout Paradise Remastered9

An amazing port of Burnout Paradise, but then it's a game that's getting on in years, that has been ported to lesser systems too and still been great, so no surprise there. What is surprising is the price, it's more expensive on the Switch, than it ever was on any other system at it's original launch, you would have hoped for the price, EA might have included Burnout 1, 2, 3, Dominator or all of them on the same cart or as a download code, hopefully they'll port other versions of the Burnout series in the future that will be discounted or free to owners of Paradise, I can always dream!

OK, sure I didn't expect it to be on par with the PS4/XB1 versions, but what has been produced for the Switch, which essentially a hand held console, they've done an amazing job, lots of people moan about the graphics and frame rate, but really it's not as bad as people are making out, and the gameplay is still there regardless, no doubt it'll get more patches to make it look and play better, as hackers are already playing around with it and making it perform a lot better, so the developer may take note and implement these improvements in a future patch, but even so, I'm enjoying what's been done so far, and I'm glad it's been ported to the Switch.

I really was looking forward to this game when I first saw it, but after playing it for all of 10 minutes, I uninstalled, it's impossible to see what's above you with jumping up first, so as a consequence, you spend most of your time falling back to the start, if they made the game have a scroll system, it would have been much better, the game looks and sound great, but the flip screen mechanic ruins the game, shame.

A solid shooter, with a nice R-Type kinda feel to it, you have a decent selection of weapons and power ups, and you're force orb can rotate around you're ship in various positions to keep the aliens on their toes.

Brilliant little game, one for any Metroidvania fan, it's so very very similar to Metroid it's amazing it's even got released without being sued by Nintendo, but it does add a few new elements to probably get past the lawyers, either way it's a brilliant game and well worth buying.
