Danganronpa 1-2 Reload8

These murder mysteries are some of the best. This is more of an interactive visual novel than a game, but it does have some gameplay elements. The minigames aren't very good, and I had to resort to using a guide for the trials. However, the stories are amazing. Danganronpa 1 is set in a school, and 2 is set on an island. I still debate which game I prefer, because both are extremely good. I highly recommend this game for anyone who loves a good mystery.

Persona 3 Reload9

This game delivers a truly compelling narrative, bolstered by absolutely stunning visuals and an unforgettable soundtrack. Months after finishing, I still find myself listening to its music in my car, which is a testament to its lasting impact. The boss battles are a ton of fun, demanding strategic thinking and offering satisfying tactical depth. The core cast of characters is incredibly memorable, and the game’s ending delivers a truly captivating twist. However, I found the confidant storylines to be a significant weak point. While I appreciate the attempt to build character relationships, many of these stories felt drawn out and lacked genuine engagement. With the exception of Tanaka's confidant, which I was looking forward to and found to be pretty hilarious, most felt like a chore rather than an enjoyable part of the experience. The main storyline and character interactions are so strong that the lackluster confidants really stand out as a negative. Despite this gripe, the game's strengths far outweigh its weaknesses. It's a masterclass in style, storytelling, and gameplay, and the music alone makes it a must-play. If the confidant stories had been as compelling as the rest of the game, this would have been a perfect experience.

Astro Bot10

Astro Bot is a vibrant celebration of PlayStation's rich history, wrapped in a beautifully crafted platforming adventure. The level design is consistently excellent, offering a delightful mix of creative environments and engaging challenges. I particularly enjoyed the challenge levels, though I wished there were more of them to test my skills. The game is packed with charming references to classic PlayStation titles, like the hilarious nod to Kratos in one of the robot designs, which brought a smile to my face. This love letter to PlayStation is further enhanced by a fantastic soundtrack that perfectly complements the colorful and imaginative levels. The visuals are stunning, with vibrant hues and detailed environments that make exploring each world a joy. The power-ups are a highlight, adding unique gameplay twists. My favorite is the stop watch, which allows for strategic time manipulation, adding a layer of depth to the platforming. On the other hand, the monkey arms felt a bit unwieldy and less intuitive compared to the other power-ups. The controls overall are tight and responsive, making Astro Bot a pleasure to play. While the game is generally accessible, it offers enough challenge to keep seasoned players engaged. If I were a child experiencing this for the first time, Astro Bot would undoubtedly become an instant classic. It captures that same sense of wonder and joy found in the best platformers. The game isn't overly difficult, but it has enough hidden collectibles and enjoyable levels to encourage replayability.Astro Bot feels like it's cementing its place as a new face of PlayStation, and rightfully so. It's a game that appeals to a wide audience, from young children to adults, and stands as a testament to the enduring appeal of well-crafted platformers. While I hoped for more challenge levels, the overall experience is incredibly fun and polished. It's a must-play for any PlayStation fan or anyone who loves platforms.
