This is what a horror game should be about. In this game you áre alone, you áre disgusted, you áre terrified. You really want to get out of that wicked place, but not before 'enjoying' every minute of an extraordinary ride through a hell of murderous nutcases and blood. The horror cliches are there: the jump scares, the lunatic asylum, pieces of story you find on your way. But all is decently worked out. Outlast was a parasite painfully eating my mind and I did not regret that for one moment.

Really liked playing Metro 2033 a lot. One of the most atmospheric shooters I have ever played. You easily get involved with the story and the game play gives you plenty moments of tension and amazement. Great stuff!

Playing through the first hours of Demonicon, I felt a bit unpleasant. It all seemed pretty awkward. But, if you're not too unforgiving and you're willing to let the game show it's potential, it really turns out to be a well made rpg with a broad skill tree and a story that becomes more and more interesting towards the end.

Arcania: Gothic 4

The title of this game is, like many already have stated; misleading. Gamers expecting to go through a next chapter in the Gothic series felt disappointed for obvious reasons. But the game Arcania itself isn't bad at all. Game play is fun, the skill tree is broad enough, the graphics are neat and the hack and slash character of the combat system didn't bother me one bit. Without the part of not meeting with the expectations the title of Arcania: Gothic 4 arouses, the game itself is worth a score of at least seven, in my opinion.

Remember that blind man, sitting in a cave near Whiterun? When I entered that cave and saw him sitting there, I immediately felt sorry for him. I cleared the whole **** cave while keeping the thought "when I return, I will not hurt that sorry ass mofo, he is no threat in any way", strong. But, and here it comes, when I walked back towards the cave's exit, he obviously was still sitting there, doing nothing, being nothing but a loser. And at that same moment, a horrible urge occurred to me. I just couldn't help it.. I couldn't control it. I sneaked right to him, standing behind him, looking at his stupid sorry ass head. I raised my Whiterun axe as high as I could above my skull and with all the power I had, I slammed it into his. A terrible deed, I know. Still I exited that cave with a big smile on my face. That's what I call being a true Dark Elf. End of nonsense.

World class shooter. The atmosphere presented in this game is unique in many ways. Once the story picks you up, you just have to play it all the way to the tough ending. The areas outside will give you the chills... as will the tunnels... as will all the freaks and monsters you'll meet.

Risen 2: Dark Waters

I can imagine that people who are not familiar with Piranha Bytes classics such as Gothic 1 and 2, find Risen Dark Waters to be an rather awkward game. Also, I understand that people who áre PB-fans, find Risen 2 to be a game full of harsh disappointment. A lot of what made the early Gothic games classics, is gone forever with the introduction of the Risen games. However, when you judge this game for what it is, as if it where PB's first, one should have to acknowledge the terrific job that PB has done with the realization of Risen 2. The different surroundings are adorable, the characters are more than just some standard puppets, the fights and quests you will have to take on are more than just another challenge and the length of the game deserves respect. On top of that, the very personal style all the games by Piranha Bytes are blessed with, certainly is pleasantly noticeable while playing Risen 2. I really liked playing this game, and I, for one, am a huge fan of the Gothic series. As a game studio, you can't stick to the good old formula over and over again, without having to repeat yourself in an obsessive way. I most certainly believe PB has made the right choices by exploring new possibilities with the installments of Risen.

Serena

First off: I think the concept of Serena is a good one. The graphics are suitable for a game like this and the fact that you can play the game for free is yet another reason to try it out for sure. Doing so I tried my best to enjoy playing Serena, or at least find it sufficiently entertaining. Alas, I found out pretty soon that I wouldn't make it to the end, even if that ending was just a small hour away. Why did I detach that quickly? Well, for starters because the voice acting was unbearable. Over acted in every sense of the word. The fact that you had to listen to the same lines over and over again didn't help either. Some voice recordings were not even filtered correctly, the mic buzz was noticeable. Much of the progress in the game was achieved without being notified about it in any way. This made the game feel very slow and stubborn. I've watched a walk-through on YouTube to see where the game would have taken me had I played it till the end: Good story, originally made up ending with a very nice surprise to it. Had the voice acting been (way) better, had the coding excluded the possibility of hearing the same spoken lines over and over again, then this would have been a great little horror experience. Good idea, bad implementation.
