The critics got this badly wrong. This is one of the more enjoyable shows of recent times with a fresh take on a dystopian future. Some of the visuals are breathtaking. Some of the scenes are intense. It's imperfect - on occasion the unsighted are a bit too accurate for their lack of sight to be believable - but it gets right far more than it gets wrong.

Star Trek: Discovery: Season 19

Disco polarized many at first because it seemed to discard many of the principles that made people love Star Trek. Part of this was a move toward a more narrative based format rather than the very episodic nature of classic Star Trek, which had a side effect; it took quite some time for the true foundations of the show to emerge. You might find yourself questioning the show a lot in the first half of the first season, but as it unwravels and twists and turns then all of a sudden you begin to believe and find yourself both shocked and impressed in equal measure at the detail and direction the show has taken. The production qualities are fantastic, and it is really worth sticking with. Don't judge it on just the first 4-5 episodes. All good stories have to spend time establishing themselves.
