Just finished season one. This show has good ideas but a lot of character choices and writing in general that takes hilarious curves. It's a perplexing median between good and bad. You want to see what happens next because there's definitely creativity in this show, but not because its stellar acting or writing. I think the main characters started to settle into their roles better after 5-8 episodes, but I think this can honestly be said about any TV show. Some of these reviewers seem to get hyper-triggered at any semblance of modern social commentary or perspectives. I can't even pick up on the "woke" stuff they're complaining about, so they're clearly not barraging you with too many socially modern perspectives. One thing that caught me off guard is how the next episode would skip past stuff I was expecting to happen on screen after seeing the previous. You may feel like you accidentally skipped an episode at some points. But now that I'm used to it, I like that it expedites the pace and gets to the main course events faster. There's frequent cringe, but I just go along for the ride because it's hilarious. One of my favorite lines: "It's a suicide instruction meme!" It looks like S2 and S3 have even higher reviews, so maybe it sorts some things out..

Bo Burnham's Inside deserves an Emmy. While I always thought he was really clever with all of his previous work, the swift piano jingles weren't really my preferred flavor of comedy. Inside however is a whole different level, infused with a majority share of extreme introspection that will speak to many. And while it was always impressive how he was such a talented musician and songwriter AND found a way to combine that into comedy, Inside evolves that into a full blown production. Bo Burnham stuck in a house for a year with lights, cameras, and audio/video software gives you a hefty dose of modern art. It's a great problem to have but I don't think he'll ever be able to top it in his career going forward. The only people who won't like this are the people are greatly differ to some of his political viewpoints, and the people who were expecting comedy club material rather than dark comedy poking at the existential darkness that surrounds us.
