BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle3
Jul 23, 2018
The idea here is great. 3 existing franchises brought together with a 4th new one with similar combat mechanics to allow for dream matchups. The good things. Plenty of characters. It has a good roster so far and they seem to be adding fast. The tag system works well (but gets used as an excuse) Many other games have implemented a good tag system as well without dragging characters moves lists through a pit of broken glass but some use it as an excuse for this game. The graphics are great and the online connection is rarely laggy after the intros. Now for some negatives. How does a game with 3 of my favorite 2d fighters end up with a 3 score? Because its not actually any of those 3 games at all. Its an incredibly simple fighter lacking even some of the most basic 2d fighting game mechanics skinned with my favorite characters. What made blazblue so great was that many characters felt different. They had different moves and controlled differently so to play 3 characters really felt like you were playing 3 different ways depending on who you picked. This game makes every characters move list identical. Every character is down forward attacks. The most basic and simple command in any fighting game is now the only command. This bothered me for a few reasons. First being that every character now feels the same but with different hitboxes and range. So now I cant even be excited to see if more of my favorite characters become usable since theyre not really my characters. Theyre missing several moves and even one of the earliest moves in fighting **** forward down forward uppercut moves. Inputs got more than simplified for this game...they got ****. When something is made accessible it means its easy to get into and start figuring out. This game locks you into easy and when you have your footing refuses to let you move forward. there is nothing complex to figure out. the whole game boils down to timing skills with calling in support characters. The games used to have 4 face atk buttons and a launcher for r1. in blazblue x activated character specific skills like hazamas chain. now there are only 2 atk buttons a character swap and a tag combo or ex skill activation button. so now hazama who used to be cool and unique has 1 atk button and triangle activates his chain. This is now the only game my 6 year old can beat me at sometimes through shear button mashing. In the end this games idea of accessible is like adding a wheelchair ramp to a **** once you get to the top youre met with a cage. You cant go farther no matter how bad you want because the moves have been stripped from the game leaving this as one of the most oversimplified child friendly fighter out there with absolutely no room for growth after you discover tag timing. I was horribly disappointed to see these games I loved so much get there chance together and lack even basic 2d game mechanics. That's something I thought arc would never do outside of dbz. I liked dbz but that's because its a new game...they didn't take a few complex ones and **** the commands like they did here. This isn't blazblue. Its a simple game with one command list and many character skins to go over that list. all of them missing huge chunks of there old moves list. I was actually mad at this game. And arc wants to simplify future games as well......this may be the end of there 2d dominance if all future games end up this dumbed down.

This is easily my pick for best turn based rog of all time. The combat system is amazing , the story is really deep, and it has one of the best soundtracks in gaming. I ALWAYS recomend this game and will continue to hope for a remake

Mine to fly to mine to fly. All this game consists of is mining and buying upgrades that inly allow you to mine longer just to fly so you can continue mining. No factions no missions this game is filled with a lot of nothing. But at least the endings interesting right? **** even more nothing than the journey to it

This is the best 2d fighter ive ever played. Hi g ly in depth very complex with cool characters fluid animation and everything just seems so smooth and well done. This is a very impressive fighter with a complex enough system to put games like street fighter to shame but has simple moves for casual players a wonderfull game

This is the best splintercell since chaos theory. Despite some controll issues like swapping guns instead of picking up a body this game is great. Ok graphics not great but im most excited to see stealth return. Conviction didnt feel like a splintercell game at all bit this game fixed alot of that

An overall fun game. The graphics are good the controlls are comfortable and the story is fun.this game lets you go in full shootout style or be a professional hitman by being stealthy which made me happy after the decline in splintercell. So if you loved old splinter cell this has just enough to make it a must have

Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 34

this game is amazing looking with a very cinematic story mode and a well made roster of characters. so why the mediocre review score? I have a very good reason actually. The series like the dragon ball game series has been known to be overly simple. Smashing 1 button is how to combo is unacceptable. I understand there not trying to make this a die hard fighting game but it IS a game based off a series about ninja hand to hand combat and inteligent use of special moves which meens there should be more to the fighting mechanics than there are now and this many ga,mes into the series its a bad sign that they havent done anything to make it better yet. My next big issue goes for huge fans of the show as well. having only 2 jutsu per character when replicating a show where some use 10 or more even steals the fun of feeling like your reliving battles. Why not allow for a button that when pressed allows you to toggle anywhere up to 5? some could be character specific and others can be picked from a list like in some of the older naruto games. Theres nothing worse than watching the show being amped up about playing and finding that there is no inteligent way to use jutsu. There all for damage but i sometimes want to use a mist jutsu to temporarily blind and enemy or one of itachis genjutsu to have them attacking a fake enemy for a second or so. something ANYTHING to make it feel like the series. This game while very good looking is so simple and so badly lacking in the combat and jutsu use that the show is based on that it gets boring and becomes a backshelf game far to quickly. a little work on combo use and some smart jutsu that arent all just dmg based (and of course more than just 2 per character) and this game will be one you can play on and off all year vs a month or 2 before your done.

This is an excelent reboot for the series. The combat is fun and recognizable so its not trying to be a whole new game which is good. The voice acting is great all around but most importantly the story. We get to see dante right as he learns who he is and that he has a brother. We see what starts there feud and get an understanding of there parents and background. Theresmore platforming than id like but this is a great way to restart the series. No goofy overly cheesy crap that the original team was starting to do giving the game a great feel. I have nothing to complain about. It all flows so well. This game was great under ninja theory

This is a great addition to tge scarece population of rpgs on next gen systems. And in depth combat system using sets of units in place of 1 single fighter granting you endless opportunity to build each combat group the way you want. The graphics are fine the cimbat is fun and in true rpg tradition there are towns shops gear and items to be bought. The games story is goid enough but the combat makes you want to play more and more. This was a very underated game given its 1 of only a handfull of rpgs to be released this decade. I suggest it be played by all rpg fans as theres guarenteed to be things in it to remind us all of the goid days when turn based rpgs were the big thing. Its pure nastalgia even down to the wonderfull soundtrack

Call of Duty: Black Ops II3
Nov 14, 2012
This title jumps past the previous black ops game in many ways but fell short in a few. The graphics are much better but the texture quality and overall look of the terrain still leaves a huge gap between treyarch and infinity ward whos had better looking faces facial animation and texture usage all the way back to the scene in mw2 where your scaling the icy cliff. Therefore you always feel like youre playing an older cod game. Second is there custom icon.there are far fewer options in this than in the first black ops. Not to mention a lack of weapons to pick from. They greatly improved the eeapon addons however. The target scope and quick aim forgrip are a few solid examples. All the maps feel small and full of close quarters corridor fighting and with the poor spawn system thats been with all call of duty games it makes those shots from behind in an area surrounded by teamates all the more annoying. None of the maps are in my opinion memorable such as crash terminal ambush or firing range which is another downside to the entire black ops series. No maps pop out and make you crave them. Pros-better graphics than the first black ops -no death streaks -more useful weapon attachments -good variation of game modes for normal core Cons-textures and graphics look far older than okder cod titles made by infinityward -small gun selection -less icon customization options -no larger maps open alot of corner dodging -poor spawn system putting you steps away from an enemy.

Id like to start by saying this game is fun. Theres nothing wrong with it playwise. However this game took the ONLY stealth series available and steals it from us. Even if this is the best game youve played this year its still worth considering that because it was released as a splinter cell game it spells the end for the true stealth game genre. So if you ever feel like hey im in the mood for a sneaky stealth dedicated game..well now it no longer exists. To take a one of a kind unique and successfull series and change the most basic point of the game steals not just from old fans but from all gamers because now the only game if its kind has been replaced by just another heavy action setup. This would have done well as a game under a new title but to purposly rip a whole way of playing from the fans and replace it is a sad occurence. No matter how much you love it its still a betrayal and the end of an entire type of gameplay that only splintercell offerd

Here lies an example of a company creating a product people liked and as it started getting more attention the company **** lets change the core of the game cause people liked **** cant have that. The first thing youll notice is the graphics are better and your character has a voice. Ok thats fine and good. However the next thing you notice **** did it just turn into a hack and slash game? YES IT DID. And let me say thats not a good thing. Yes iys smoother yes it apoeals to a bigger audience but now youve shown your avid fanbase looking for more of what you made them love last time that you dont care. Hack and slash cuts out a wide array of combat options from the first game and this company doesnt make it as good as other hack and slash games. The fans buying this are doing so because they actually liked the last game is conversation and it lacks the depth and effect of the last game. I cant understand creating a increasingly popular game then changing the mechanics so badly. Even if you like the hacking and button mashing bioware still took something that was established and enjoyed and scrapped it. Its a poor buisness choice to gamble on the now established fans to be acceptant of them unestablishing the core game mechanics. Very dumb move Then theres the setting. From last game involving several cities and lots of travel they built this game around 1 city and an immediate surrounding area. The only thing that carried over from the last game is.c

The conversations and there impact in this game coupled with excellent voice acting and scripting make it an unforgettable game. I was so entertained by the combat mechanics and conversations that i didnt care if the world wasnt open. Many areas with interesting cities and side quests compell you to do all kinds of things outside story quests leaving the player fully feeling lije they understand the world the history the cultures and generally everything. It lacks in graphics compared to other bioware games but the content is so well placed that graphics matter very little. The story is excellent and the individual openings to each race gives you reason enough to play through repeatedly for more than just making new decisions. I loved every minute of this game and wish i could see more. Unfortunately the series changed with the next game and it changed far too much. At least this title will always hold a nastalgic part of my heart for its devotion to every aspect.

This was a great game with only a few flaws. The map looks huge untill you find a large chunk is ocean and another massive chunk is just a small straight path surrounded by mountains. The other is textures and modeling on some armors like chainmail. The pawn system is amazing in all aspects. I live knowing i can rent the right pawn for the job from other players and critique them. Lots of fun to be had there. The cities are interesting and full of life. The combat has lots of options and gear to suit. This was a great new type of game from capcom and i hope to see more polished sequals in the future

Final Fantasy XIII-21

This entry tried to build onto the last game while fixing the larger issues fans had with the first. They provided npcs to there credit however the store while many say its fixed is not and heres why. Last game randomly placed save cubes sold you items. Now a randomly placed annoying girl sells you items. Its just a save cube with a chacter model on it that doesnt let you save. So its a halfass fix but something. Combat remains overly simple but now for the big thing. The world There is no world technically. Just randomized boxed in locations. Imagin a mw3 map that you had to walk around find an item and teleport to another random map. Thats the entire layout of this game. They designed completely random areas without exits and just bounce you from one to the otherafter finding an item. Now for characters. The new guys pretty cool but serrah and her mog bow are not. The train a monster idea is nice but its only hiding the fact that this game seriously lacks a character roster. So in all honesty this game and its lack of story that has nothing to do with 13 mixed with the sensless area to area without any true feeling of travle (like walking from a desert area to a beach area to a slightly wooded area as seen in other games) this ff barely constitutes as a game at all. Any random thing can happen and just be called a time paradox. I really hated the feeling of traveling from 1 shoebox to the next though. That really bugged me.

Final Fantasy XIII3

Here is a game riding in on all the fame and glory of the final fantasy series. A legedary rpg franchise with core elements weve come to expect. Towns with npcs stores with weapons and gear not to mention the large story and history filled **** of which are absent from this entry. Only having controll of 1 character is the first of my dissapointments followed immediately by the healing after every battle factor. In past games youd stock up on phoenix downs potio.s and ether before setting out giving it the true feeling of a journy to come. This game simply heals you entirely after winning the fight which is a serious downgrade to the nature of the game. Next is the summons being transformers.... And of course the fact that the game is 1 set path with no towns or npcs. All stores are on the save cubes making it feel more like shopping at amazon than an ff game. These are just basic rpg elements to emmerse you in the world but dont exist at all here. I wonder how many people noticed that various soundtracks from every ff game ever made were absent as well. The story was ok but several enemies that looked to be interesting only showed up once removing the feeling of having that non final boss arch enemy. Another dumb down factor us paradigm shift. In previous games the class system provided you with the meens to build or use prebuilt classes so you coukd structure the most efficient team. However with paradigm shift everyone can be every class all at the flick of a button mid fight. The combat system LITTERALLY plays itself. Set everyone to ravager and stagger the enemy then switch to assult and kill them. This meens boss fights can be won without looking at the screen when rotating between the 2 with a full medic paradigm in between. Auto attack lets your character do the most effective attacks without you ever even having to think. The game has lost all the rpg elements created a combat system that requires no thought a healing system removing the need to stock items and the lack of a mana bar to pay attention too. Its the perfect final fantasy for any 2nd grader with downsyndrom

I and many other fans it would seem looked forward to this entry especially thanks to the news of leons story. Ahh yes zombies return and the series provides the old fans with something resembling the traditional games that made the series a huge hit to begin with. For graphics the modeling is goid but many textures are just horrible. Look at the cars on the bridge in the beggining of leons playthrough. The insides of the school are perfect but the cars and jet among other things looks like ps1 inserts. Graphics i can look past but qtes are something that even in a zombie arc leaves me frustrated. And now zombies can carry weapons. Another huge dissapointment. This game series wanted to innovate but what they did actually created a whole new game but stole the re title. I love the shooting mechanics but hate seeing an re game have military game style shootouts with enemies (some) that look more at home in a harry potter movie than re canon. Any company willing to take a popular well loved an established title and change everything alienating a large percentage of there fanbase desearves failure to open there eyes a bit. With the huge success of the walking dead tv series destroying the re movies and same time proving peoplr still LOVE that story setting why did they maje choices that would undenyable seperate there fan base in favor of heavy action gunfights when the series clearlu centers its existing popularity on slow paced zombie out break survival. This proves theu dont care about existing fan base and set standards. Iys all anout changing everything to somethinh unrecognizable to selk on title alone when this could have succeeded as a different title.

I was worried at first about the setting but its really turned out to be a great experience. The graphics first off are great. Landscape and buildings are good enough to interest you in walking around old america to see the original cities. Combat is fun as expected and guns dont damage it nearly as bad as id expected. Theres plenty of cutscenes to keep you fully interested in whats going on and who it involves so you always want to keep playing just to see more story. It really is an amazing entry to the series and i find myself hoping to see more games come out involving this **** knowing i walked into this game uninterested and not wanting such a jump in time setting to saying hey this game is a 10 was a shock to me. But i do love it thats for sure. It was well done
