Not great, but good. Its perks are too easy to achieve, in an attempt to enhance replay value. The game is too much frolic, not enough oomph. It's no Far Cry or Deus ****'s linear and not overly challenging or exciting. Blase' is the word I'd use. I've come to expect more of Bethesda. I'd put this on the level of other good, but not great, games like RAGE or Metro (both of them). What's disappointing is that the game makes it feel like actions don't really matter. There's no **** **** anything, when you die you are actually rewarded with unlocking more perks. All in all, not terrible, but the overall feel is weakened by putting more emphasis on walking through levels and collecting ways of play than actual success. Too easy, too much handholding, while at the same time confusing at times (especially early on) with poor tutorials and unnecessary control options (lean, cover that are not explained). The story and fun in shooting are adequate, though. I'm not sorry I bought it. I am sorry I bought it for $60 when I would rather be playing bioshock 2, which I got for less than 10 on sale. Put it on the back burner and buy on the cheap. It's fun-ish!

It's a short, but emotional experience. It's a nice way to set aside some thought and to appreciate a large scale tragedy on a more personal level. This is not a game for everyone. This is a game for people who want to look a tragedy in the eye and feel loss. In some ways, it's not so much **** as an interactive experience. It's not about winning or losing, but in appreciating. However, though it does effectively tug at the heart strings, it could have gone a bit further into giving a bit more meaning and context as it continued. On the whole, it's a bit of an unusual experience, probably worth the money if this is your style, but not for everyone.

A great open world game. Satisfying quests, and an emotional component I was surprised to feel. I actually felt conflicted about some of my actions during this game. The combat isn't great, but the overall feel of accomplishment is. I especially enjoyed a number of the side missions and the driving aspects of the game. While not a driving simulator, the variety of cars and the chance to get into trouble/incentive for not bashing up the car you just stole added an element of fun to the driving. The game really shines, though, in its sense of immersion. The city feels as real as any city I've experienced in gaming. This realism adds greatly to the missions, the driving, and the overall plot/story of the game. While some games are a "solid 8", this game is more like a 10 in some ways and a 6 in others, averaging to an 8. If you like games with a variety of missions and an open world feel and lots to accomplish, this is great. If you require an excellent combat system, then this is probably a "pass" for you.

A solid game, with a fun open world style--though somewhat linear in this "openworlded-ness". Enjoyable dystopian feel, with a sense of character empowerment both by action and gear. A solid game, but not a "must play". I was sort of shocked by the high number of bad reviews. I wonder if it had issues when it was first released? It may be helpful to search reviews by date to determine if the low reviews are clustered close to release date (I haven't done this myself, but it might be of use.)

Pure awesome. Much less serious than Far Cry 3, and the smoothness of combat and bases isn't as good, I considered giving it an 8. However the humor, the pure 80's-ness, the homage to old games and movies, made me forget about those issues throughout playing. A totally rad, awesome, mint, mega game.

A wonderful game. Enjoyable missions, varied tasks, a good story, an emotional connection to characters, minimal "grind" or "walking simulation". On the whole, a satisfying ride that I'll probably come back to again to play all the way through.

In my opinion the second best of the DLC for Borderlands 1. (I liked Claptrap's Revolution best). True to the core game experience, but with a few flaws. The most frustrating flaw for me was the lack of teleporting waypoints. The starting point/home base of this DLC is basically in the center of one long highway. You can go north or south for a long way to access missions, and the journey can become tedious. This is particularly true at maximum level when your vehicle is easily destroyed by the numerous other vehicles on the highway. (At high levels your power is substantial, but so is that of enemies, and vehicles don't seem to scale appropriately). The story overall is fairly good, and the quests are satisfying. The battle against the main enemy can be highly frustrating because of medics healing the boss. Overall, I'm pleased that I bought this, but it is not quite as good as the base game, and after a few playthroughs of it, I'm less than excited to do it again, even when I'm happy to do the core game and claptrap again. Solid, but not great.

I'm surprised at the lowish score that this DLC has received. (I do believe in my 8 rating, though, I"m not "balancing out for lower ratings"). I consider this the best of the 4 DLC for Borderlands 1. Fun, interesting quests, a good story, satisfying battles, good rewards, etc. This DLC feels like an extension of the core game, whereas each of the other 3 feel somehow different. The primary reason I gave the core game a 10 and this only an 8 is because of a very confusing map and because, like the rest of the DLC, it doesn't incorporate the teleport system to easily move from one area to another. Definitely worth the purchase if you enjoy the core game.

An incredible game. Satisfying kills, a plethora of guns, enjoyable levelling, an interesting open world with non-grindy quests. This is a game you could spend hours and hours playing and still want to play more. Even in 2014 it doesn't feel dated.

I love this game. I've played through it 3 times in full, and plan to play all the DLC as well. The world it's in, the experience of choosing revenge or rising above, the variety of fun "toys" with which to take down **** all adds up to a great game. I own both the pc and the ps3 version (well I gave the ps3 to a friend, but wanted to play it again and got the pc version) and I'd say the pc is slightly (but only slightly) inferior to to ps3. I almost always prefer games on pc, but in this case, I've noticed the gameplay is ever so slightly less smooth. Rare for me, if you have both a pc and a ps3, buy the ps3 **** if no ps3, don't hesitate for a second to buy it on pc. It's a wonderful game.

Postmortem: One Must Die

A good game, not worth more than an ipod app. At half price ($3.99 for the "extended cut") it's still way too much. You meet a total of 6 characters, have limited conversations, and must choose one of them to die. Replay-ability is so-so for one time, and negligible beyond that. It feels like there are "right" and "wrong" decisions, but not in a freeform or even sensible way...more of a propaganda way (women's rights are bad, scientific knowledge is bad). The grammar/English is either poor or poorly translated (I don't know if this was developed by native speakers of English). At best, there are a number of typos. There are not a lot of meaningful discussions on the whole, and some are downright pointless. The whole of this game is at one short as you make it party, interacting with a total of 6 characters. It's simply not satisfying enough, and the ramifications feel less like choices you make as a player and more as "railroading" based on what the developer views as good or bad. If this game extended out to multiple events, say, 4 different things (a fundraiser, a protest, a meeting between opposing factions, and a final resolution), with your decisions and dialogue making differences each time, I'd probably have rated it quite highly. The overall idea for the game is sound, but the shortness and linearity strongly reduces any value to the player. In short, the game feels like the first 1/4 of a much better game,

Not as good as Diablo 1 or 2 or even Torchlight 1 or 2. Basically 4 things drag it down HARD. 1. Worst of all it is pay to win (but not even close to free to play). Inexcusable for a game you pay for. Obnoxiously so for a game you pay this much for. 2. Story. This story is weak. Some of the characters are fun (I'd like to learn more about many of the followers), but the demon of lies is a horrible liar (being obvious from the get-go) and the boards/missions/quests are not varied or exciting enough. 3. Loot/drops. Because they decided to make it pay to win, Loot and drops are not worth grinding, on the whole. Merchants are useless, and even legendary drops are unexciting given that they are almost always not even worth selling on the auction house. Its basically this: there is one correct way to play without real money. Grind gold, go to AH, buy items, grind more gold. Alternatively, you can, instead of playing the actual game, play the auction house to make money. I don't think anyone bought Diablo 3 to play "stock market, fantasy style" but that's one of the two viable ways to do well in the game. Awful. 4. Online only DRM (with sweet, sweet server management. Honestly, if the game were good, I could probably/possibly excuse this. I think/hope that it prevents haxx, which sorta ruined any pvp or multiplayer in prior Diablos (especially 1). Given that I primarily want to play with my family, I'd be more than happy to lose this in favor of LAN based play.

For its time this game may have been of quality...I can't say. I'm playing it in 2013/2014 and finding it lacking. The dogs (the primary antagonists) don't provide the appropriate tension. They're boring and **** kill them or they kill you and you try again (or you just run past them). They're a horror mechanic gone wrong. The rest of the game is clunky, big on "mystery" but small on "experience" or even "wonder". All in all...I played 3/4 to 7/8 of this game and didn't want to bother finishing. I used walkthroughs to get to the end, and it wasn't satisfying at all (would have been more frustrating without walkthroughs). I do plan to play the later editions in the series though. It was compelling and interesting if outdated and flawed. I'll have to see (and probably review) how the next iterations go.

The only positive I can give it is "slightly creepy atmosphere". I'm being generous with a 2, because I found I could play it even though it made me not want to. The list of problems: relies on darkness way too much to create "challenge" (i.e. blundering about) and to scare. The actual scares are either laughably easily avoided or are merely a "don't go in the darkness." First person perspective, but plenty of platforming. Darkness abounds but you're meant to find clues. Environments that are confusing primarily because the are so repetitive/uninteresting. The biggest challenges usually consist of "did I go the right way, since it was so damn dark and everything looks the same" and "can I jump well without seeing my feet?" A definite pass, in my opinion.

I'm giving it a zero score because I can't run it without a workaround. No game should crash upon opening for a substantial amount of people. Before buying, google "lost planet 3 crashes upon opening". Today is December 29, 2013. It was released August 27. They've had plenty of time to update/put out patch. Just pathetic.

The Emperor's New Clothes of games. Antichamber is supposed to be "mind blowing" and "non euclidean". That may be true from a developer's standpoint. However the way it presents itself to a player is more in the vein of Zelda "discovery" of "oh I have to go up, up, up, left, right, left, down". Trial and error is not mindblowing. Neither is it a "clever puzzle". If you have 1000 monkeys and 1000 gaming areas, you will see this game beaten. Cleverness? No. Cleverness is not required. Randomness is required. When A doesn't work, do B, C, D, E, F until you have "solved" the conundrum. As in the Emperor's New Clothes, I feel that people are too ashamed to downrate this game. It MUST be smart (and if I don't get it, I must not be) so I should rate it highly, seems to be the case with many a reviewer. If you like closing your eyes and throwing darts and then patting yourself on the back when you get a bullseye, by all means, this is the game for you.
