Hopefulness bears "Daryl Dixon" aloft, to the point that you may pray he doesn't get his wish to go back home. No matter where he is, things are never going to back to the same as before. But this side trip reminds him and us that no matter what disasters befall us, life can be good again.

If Daryl Dixon is a glimpse at the types of ambitious swings The Walking Dead franchise is looking to take in its new era, I’m all for it. This is a big, weird story that it’s exciting to see told. It’s easily one of the best Walking Dead things in years (and that’s including the last few years of the original series, too).

Daryl Dixon is a dark miniseries worthy of the protagonist, a lost man seeking a cause greater than himself. The setting in the old world is gothic and depressing, charming and rustic, terrifying and foreboding - watching Daryl trudge through the ruined glories of France, beauty and horror intertwined. Just like any other Walking Dead show, there are pockets of human survivors with their specific missions, mandates and cultures. One in particular, formed and led by youth, was particularly touching and moving. There are always megalomaniacs in these series and Genet does not disappoint as a French iron lady determined to build a new French republic, to make the hard decisions. All her motivations are not fully revealed and I hope future seasons continue the thread. The religious and destiny-driven aspect of the show, combined with the “holy child” Laurent, adds a layer of mystery and wonder. Daryl is the furthest from a believer you can imagine, but he responds to a higher calling. I hope this journey continues to another season. It almost feels like Daryl is on a pilgrimage of redemption and self-discovery, perhaps the path to faith. But the real question is, will he find happiness as has opined two young souls so far?

With Reedus doing his usual stellar job as the brooding but caring Daryl, TWD: Daryl Dixon is on pretty solid dramatic ground.

With only six episodes in which to tell a more or less complete story, there should be no room for a slow burn, yet “Daryl Dixon” doesn’t find its true rhythm until it hits a soap-opera-worthy plot twist midway through the third episode.

Daryl Dixon is by no means perfect. There are some murky motivations, eyebrow-raising coincidences, and here and there dialogue that is more mystifying than it can possibly have been intended to be. .... Despite my quibbles, I never got to an installment that made me reluctant to watch the one after it.

AMC’s spin-off is capable enough, and the French setting provides a somewhat distinct feel... As a whole, however, Daryl Dixon could use a little more panache.

AMC is right to worry about this upstart horror series cannibalizing its accolades and ratings. Especially if it keeps churning out puzzling dross like Daryl Dixon.

Probably the best of the 3 recent spin off series. It's restored my faith in the franchise after the lackluster ending to the main series and the disappointing Rick and Michonne limited series. It's refreshing to see a Walking Dead show in a place that's clearly not America. It's pretty much a Daryl Dixon roadtrip across zombie infested France. The 6 episode limit removed all of the filler you used to get in the main series, so it's all plot from start to finish. The decayed scenery/sets are top notch. The acting is pretty good and they've clearly thought out how places without guns would handle a zombie apocalypse. It's also refreshing to see a wider and more dangerous types of zombies.

Resulta muy interesante conocer el mundo apocalíptico desde otra parte del mundo. La duración es adecuada, los nuevos personajes funcionan bien y el apartado visual destaca. Si te gusta The Walking Dead, definitivamente es una serie que debes ver.

I've watched all of The Walking Dead spinoffs and this is the best of them. It takes place in France and reveals completely different types of zombies and factions vying for control over what remains of humanity. It also honors French culture with great representative characters on both sides. The villains are a bit cliché, which is ironic considering that the French invented the word.

I'm French and was intrigued, having given up on TWD in what it feels 30 years ago or so. However, the atrocious acting and dialogues, the pitiful lack of effort in decor and make up makes this show unwatchable after 5 minutes (where we see Daryl going in Les Baux de Provence and what looks like Sète). The plot had potential (A riff on The Last of Us) but alas it is misconstrued.
