watched this by random chance when it was played at a BBQ I went to for Memorial Day. I found myself drawn in quickly to the story and AL Ruddy played by Miles Teller was an instant win to see as I think he's a wonderful actor and seeing he executive produced was fascinating but what carried the show forward to enthused me was the revelations of how much came against the film production of The Godfather and how much had to be overcome to see the greatest movie of all time made. I was so thrilled I had to go home and finish the series and then wanted to watch the movie because of what I saw in the Offer.

Really entertaining story, great acting and clever writting. Easily the best TV show of **** Critics are idiots.

Most fun Ive had with a series in a long time. Incredible casting, immersive crrative experience, Hollywood and NY in the 70s, the mob, this show has it all! The critics are so out of touch on this one, its incredible. Movies are made formthe audience, nkt the critics and the audience LOVES this show!

Mad Men meets the rise of Indie Hollywood. Definitely over the top, but for those with a passing interest in the subject matter, the show has impeccable art direction, costumes and great, campy performances.

Everyone playing a caricature and it is way too long. Four episode would have been enough. It is very flattering for the producer Al Ruddy whose book was the inspiration.

I loved this! The performances by Matthew Goode and Miles Teller were outstanding here. I would love to see more "Making of" type stuff in series form. You don't have to be a Godfather fan to enjoy this, because the saturation of actual events **** you right in. Bravo

Yes, it really idealizes the conception of one of cinema's greatest masterpieces, and by the way my favourite film of all time. It also focuses more on Al Ruddy than the actual production of the film, and that didn't exactly satisfy me, but it does have some good moments, especially the dinner scene with the main cast of The Godfather. The cast of this series is quite good and full of familiar faces, and the story is really entertaining, although it goes on for far too long and I really think the 10 episodes were too many. This is exacerbated by its open-ended conclusion, because it doesn't feel like an ending. And it's not that they intend to do a second season with the making of The Godfather Part II, it's just that when it comes to the end, it doesn't feel as emotionally charged as I think it should have been. The Offer it's worth your time, but be warned that it's an overly romanticized version of real life events, but as a curiosity it's more than fine.

I have no clue what the critics are talking about. This is not a documentary. This is a fantastic, engaging, can-not-wait-for-the-next-episode piece of genius. Anyone who I have encouraged to watch it has thanked me profusely... some saying it is the best show they have ever seen on TV. I just watched the last episode and the only disappointment I have is that there won't be another.

This a very good TV show. The acting is above the norm and some way above. It holds your interest. The critics are wrong about this one.

This is so bad on so many levels. In fact, it’s so bad on every level; writing, directing, acting, cinematography, production design… It’s the antithesis of the great film it’s supposedly about. Pure drek.

Brilliant series, amazing acting, well written and intriguing. Miles Teller is amazing as usual, and Matthew Goode doesn't disappoint either. Definitely a 10/10.

I can understand some critics disliking the creative license applied to the history of the film's production, and I appreciate that it's more Hollywood navel gazing, but The Offer is bloody great TV. Well paced, well acted, beautifully shot and convincingly of the early-70s era. We're loving it.

Miles Teller heads the cast as Al Ruddy, the producer of the 1972 classic The Godfather. His determination to make this film happen is met with continual setbacks from casting issues to Italian gangsters. This series explores the challenges with fascinating insight, while boasting an impressive cast of spot-on performances. Viewing this from today's perspective adds extra irony to every situation, but more important, this is an entertaining look at the production process.

This series is great. It is well acted and tells an excellent story. I highly recommend that you check this show.

This series is a pleasantly slow meditation on the torturous creative process, on late-60s/early-70s America, on writing and filmmaking, and on the struggle between the creatives (dreamers) and the accountants -- using the machinations and juicy behind-the-scenes struggles that eventually produced one of the great films of all time as the vehicle for exploring those tensions. I don't know how the writers pulled all of that together in just three episodes (so far), but they have. Beautifully executed. Beautifully filmed. Superbly acted.

This series is so. much. fun. If you love The Godfather, and are a person of a certain age, watching this behind the scenes, making of, docu-comedy-drama of the process with all the hollywood/corporate, political, social, and actual mafioso scuttlebutt is pure pleasure. Not sure what the "experts" were watching to give it such a low score, but after 3 episodes, I'm delighted and can't wait for the rest. Everyone is really well cast except Juno Temple, who I could do with less of, and is completely out of her element here.
