While there may not be enough of Human Vapor‘s thriller plot to cover an eight-episode season, the backstory of Okamoto and Kyoko should make up the shortfall.

Turns its title character into a semi-sentient golem, an avatar of revenge in a story that has been expanded — or reduced — into an anti-authoritarian, anticapitalist ecological parable. It’s still reasonably entertaining, but its guarded, morose atmosphere can wear you down across eight episodes.

It’s evanescent froth, useful only if you want to try and pick up some Japanese or make some juvenile guff gags.
