Because season four’s alternate-history timeline is closest to our present day, FAM loses the nostalgic feel it had when depicting the ’70s, ’80s, and ’90s. Beyond that, these new episodes just haven’t figured out what journey they want to take.

Based on episode 1 of season 4:I recall someone saying this is the best sci fi on tv that you’re not watching, and it’s so true. As a huge fan of BSG remake I see so many similarities in regards to the time skips, the stories that will only get more relevant as time goes on. I love the alt timeline especially the start of seasons with the news reports. For season 4 North Korea being in the mix is going to ramp up the tension 10 fold, and I can’t wait for this journey!

Not terrible, but not very good as a geopolitical thriller with struggles between workers and management, and the obligatory everyman just trying to make it in an unfair system. But, that is not what I came to watch in the fourth season of For All Mankind. This show had been about the wonders and the dangers of space exploration and depicting experiences I had never seen in a movie or TV show before. It had regularly surprised me in the earlier seasons, but there were few surprises here. Characters that I cared for and rooted for in the earlier seasons no longer held my interest. I might have rated this a three or four, if this had been a stand alone series, but as it betrayed so much of what I loved of For All Mankind I rated it lower because of my complete disappointment.
