For All Mankind: Season 4

User Scorebob516

Not terrible, but not very good as a geopolitical thriller with struggles between workers and management, and the obligatory everyman just trying to make it in an unfair system. But, that is not what I came to watch in the fourth season of For All Mankind. This show had been about the wonders and the dangers of space exploration and depicting experiences I had never seen in a movie or TV show before. It had regularly surprised me in the earlier seasons, but there were few surprises here. Characters that I cared for and rooted for in the earlier seasons no longer held my interest. I might have rated this a three or four, if this had been a stand alone series, but as it betrayed so much of what I loved of For All Mankind I rated it lower because of my complete disappointment.

A somewhat clumsy attempt to close the show that ended on ridiculously bad Season 8. I get it the writers had a lot to contend with in the flawed final seasons so I'll give them a pass on the problems throughout this series. The ending itself was not without its problems, but I put up with it to get to a worthy climax.

When the writers lost track of the premise of the show between Season 1 and Season 2 they just about lost the chance of keeping me as a viewer. Some of the subplots have potential to stand on their own as solid TV shows, but since they have nothing to do with the basic theme of the outsider looking in, trying to fit in, but completely unaware of how to do that, the subplots distract rather than help Harry's story. Shame, I liked the show the first season.

Five episodes in and I have to change my review. There's no tension in the evaluation segment of the show. Whether one contraption works better than the other there are no high stakes for me to be invested in. It's interesting to see the builders create the whatever they've been tasked to do, but in the end, so what. With 20+ minutes of commercials and too many product placements to stomach, it is not worth my time.

I went back to watch the premier episode of Cheers after watching the first episode of Abby's, hoping to come to some understanding of why I liked a bar show from thirty years ago, but not this new one. Cheers had heart. It was a show about a bunch of lovable losers, and they were lovable. The characters on Abby's are losers, but I did not find anything lovable about them.

I am fan of the absurd. That a prophet could be getting messages through musical numbers I thought was very creative. I am not a fan of musicals, but the singing, dancing, and choreography taking place in a lawyers office was wonderfully absurd. Too bad that idea did not last through the first season. I am giving this show a 10, not for the full season, but because I was taken with the creativity of the concept.

Far from perfect, but it is a great parody of science fiction movies. I am not a gamer so I imagine I am missing a few of the jokes. Not all episodes are equally strong, but Pandora's Mailbox (the James Cameron episode) had me laughing so hard I was missing some the jokes there were so many great jokes being delivered so fast. I am looking forward to the next season.

Very stylish, but that is about where it ended for me. I knew from the beginning that Naz was going to be charged with the crime, so why did the first episode spend so much time creating moments when it looked like the patrol officers that stopped him let him off, walk away scot free from the crime scene, or walk out of the police station with no one noticing. Seems like poor, lazy writing to me, and it only got worse. I pushed through the first episode, and tried to get through the second, but gave up half way. I sure hope the deer head hanging on the wall had some meaning later on, otherwise it was pretentious b.s.

If this show was on AMC or FX, where they are not afraid of an edgy storyline, without the heavy melodrama, I probably would have really liked it. There are moments where I find the story interesting, but then I am turned off by the 'laying it on thick' scenes of someone dealing with the loss of a loved one, or extreme family issues. I had to work to get through two episodes, to not let hackneyed parts drag me down. Unfortunately, I could not. Only because there are moments of grown-up writing in this , I will give it a 1.

I struggled, really struggled to keep on watching the first episode. Don't see any reason to continue with this show.

Last season this show was on my 'good enough to watch' list, the second season it has been on my 'can't miss' list. Expanding the story lines and leaving the romance between Abe and Anna in the background has made it stronger. The Major Andre, Peggy Shippen, Benedict Arnold story is well done, Simcoe is an even better villain-you-love-to-hate as a Ranger, and expanding Mary Woodhall's role had made for a much richer show. I really hope there is a season 3.

Zen philosophy in a prime-time network show, what a great concept. The police procedural simply serves as the framework to explore Damian Lewis' character, and how he deals with the world. What an amazing take on the Sherlock Holmes character. Brilliant way to reinterpret the character, some of the most intelligent dialogue on TV (or even in the movies), and Cumberbatch ties it all together so well. I used to like this show. I enjoyed seeing unusual pieces, learning a little about the history of the piece, and seeing them haggle over the price. The writing of this reality show has really gotten bad. The little diversions, showing what is happening with the guys, used to be reasonable. Now too much attention to the made up circumstances of the guys lives. Having to watch these guys stand around and drink, on a boat, or in a new house is incredibly boring. The name of the show should be changed from Pawn Stars to The Harrisons' and Chumlee Show.

I loved Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Firefly, both brilliant shows about unrecognized heros fighting the good fight against overwhelming odds. Buffy and Mal were great characters I could root for. I am not a fan of comic books, but I trusted what Whedon would do with the material. I should not have been so ****. There is no character that can I root for like Buffy and Mal. The "agents" are not overwhelmed, if anything it is safe to assume they will always be able to find something that overpowers whatever enemy they are facing. The show lost all credibility for me in the second episode, when a lot of drama was built up over the plane landing! Great visuals and powerful music to watch a plane land, really. That is never going to keep me interested in watching.

Now two of those are gone, the secret is out, his memory is long forgotten (by the writers), and the dynamic between Harvey and Mike might return, but then again it might not. The show seems to only be about office politics and office romance. Sorry to say, I have lost all interest in the show, it has become a chore to watch.
