Interesting and small in scope, the 47-minute doc is relaxed, unhurried and not a bit longer than it needs to be.

Pelosi tells McGreevey's story in her eighth HBO documentary, the insightful, eminently watchable Fall to Grace.

His easy camaraderie with these women [in prison] forms the core of the film, HBO's eighth collaboration with filmmaker Alexandra Pelosi, and their mutual affection and hope for a better future is genuinely inspiring.

Throughout, Fall to Grace feels disappointingly safe and formulaic.

What Pelosi has here is the start of a more meaningful film about second chances and forgiveness, but what she ends up with looks more like a greeting card.

A thorough whitewashing.
