It's all decidedly goofy, but more important, it's fun! Extant seems to have finally come down to earth. [3 Jul 2015]

It looks as though Kruger and Shapiro have a handle on how to make Extant more engaging, and Berry’s performance certainly seems liberated by the new changes.

Season 2 is shaping up to be an amazing piece of sci fi. If they get the final episodes as right as this new season so far then we might get more seasons. Really hope this does not get cancelled.

I gave the first season a bad review, in retrospect it was because of the endless pointless talking the husband did... but they ignobly assassinated his character after assassinating his character so we wouldn't miss him. The new season is AWESOME. The cop is kind of cliche but alright. And the new robot is EPIC.

Molly’s extraterrestrial and emotional challenges threaten to overwhelm both the character and the actress, but Berry rallies in the second half of the premiere, seeming to finally embrace the absurdity of the space-invader plot with a “if we’re doing this, let’s do this” determination.

It’s still not a great show, but it’s better and just plain livelier than it was in its first run last summer.

Looking into some murders that remind Molly of what she learned last season, Berry and [Jeffrey Dean] Morgan have the makings of a strong team. It also helps that the intriguing Gummer is still around, and that the cast now includes David Morrissey as a General who's in charge of an international security team. The Season 2 opener doesn't make it particularly clear, but apparently, we're still in for some blather about threats to humankind, global conspiracies, and blah, blah, blah.

It’s possible the Berry-Morgan pairing will produce the right DNA to justify CBS’ decision to give this show about possible human extinction a second shot at life, but based on the available evidence, these recombinations might have birthed a different sort of series, but not a measurably improved one.

Halle Berry is of course, very good in this show. If you've ever seen anything she's done, you won't be surprised. She runs the full gamut of emotion and pulls off the "Storm" vibe when she triggers her powers. The addition of JDM makes it two actors I really like. He's not being used as much to his full potential but I'm hoping Season 3 fixes that. The role of Julie is played well, if not servicable, and she's exactly the type of person you want to root for to die... but never seems to quite get there. The first season it irritated me but I realize it's by design. Ethan is played very well by the child actor and it's been awhile since I've seen a child or a teenage actor I didn't want to slap onscreen. I think the writing is pretty good, and they sometimes go off the rails with things but that's mainstream television in general so it's expected. The writing isn't as good as say, "Mr. Robot", but as long as it isn't as crazy as Under The Dome scripts, I'm happy. I really hope to see more of this show now that things have fleshed out among the characters, sides have been chosen but they REALLY REALLY need to get a good TAALR. Nailing that human role down is key to this becoming a show like Heroes longevity wise.

Do you know why I gave this season only a 7? Because it is the smallest number with the green color in it... C'mon, the show ditches Goran Visnjic, my favorite character (by far) and expects it to leave me numb in substitution for another actor. What am I? The lifeless android kid everyone loves on the show? Well, I am not - and therefore I am reacting vigorously. Dr John was the perfect character for the sci-fi series, and besides, he played a good husband to Halle Berry's role. I just don't understand what the producers were thinking, or maybe not thinking when they decided to let go the true genius in the whole series. I hope that there is a cure that will make Jeffrey Dean Morgan intellectually capable like Einstein....

About as dumb and ridiculous as a show can get. So silly and stupid it's hard to believe the actors can make their way through with it holding straight faces. The concept is the only thing that made it stand out.

So many drastic and straight out cold changes have made Extant Season 2 a totally different **** necessary bad, but to those people (like me) that loved the first season would feel totally cheated because of its initial narrative, a family struggle between the decisions taken in letting themselves be part of the marvels that technology have brought to their lives (Ethan) vs. the consequences of dealing with the unknown. That family part has been scratched off completely, and the show can no longer deliver on that promise. If the producers needed to shake things up they should have ended Extant with a 2 hour Series Finale and spinned off under a different name taking place years later. This is not the first time we see a CBS TV show takes drastic changes for the worse season after season....Just look at what happened to Under the Dome.
