Critic Reviews

The series is written and directed by Crook, and beautifully so. He captures the characters perfectly, elicits superb performances from the entire cast and, in particular, has a brilliant way of weaving naturalistic, underplayed humor into every scene.

One of the most enjoyable surprises on television in a long time. ... At its core the series is simply a tale of two good-hearted dreamers. Detectorists is a show so refreshingly in the slow lane that it takes an episode or two to adjust to its languid pacing.
