What starts as a deadpan comedy of delusion slowly becomes, as the Marlax v Meyer scrap hots up, a cool psychodrama of resentment and betrayal, with the families torn apart by infighting and ship-jumping.

There are plenty [of surprises], as it happens, in a series this reviewer hopes will continue and continue to be imported. The cast is terrific.

Billionaire Island is just getting started setting up its soapy family rivalry story, and there’s enough there in the first episode to make us hope things will get better.
