The completeness and sureness of the movie’s aesthetic is a joy to behold, even when the images capture human beings doing savage things. You don’t really root for anyone in this film. They are criminals engaged in contests of will. But the film is not a value-neutral exercise. There is an undertone of lament to a lot of the violent action.

If Wrath of Man has a weakness, it’s that even when everything is explained, it doesn’t quite make sense. But a movie like this is about pleasure in the moment, and on that score, it delivers.

Я не ценитель фильмов со Стэйтемом, но этот фильм...
Отец, который мстит за смерть своего единственного сына. Неплохо реализовано. А саундтрек "Liver Lungs Spleen Heart" заслуживает отдельного внимания.

Wrath is also fun, after a fashion, only with the grim undercurrent of a movie more interested in generating violence than truly motivating it. This is especially true in the second half, when Ritchie offers solutions to a mystery that never really had any viable suspects.

With Statham literally riding shotgun, Ritchie has binned any pretence at subtlety and goes back to basics with an bullet-strewn romp that kicks down the door first and asks questions later. And which is, in the end, nothing more than an excuse for its star to punch as many villains as possible.

The ultimate sin of Wrath of Man is that it doesn’t realize it’s really a story about pride.

Hyper-violent and narratively undercooked, the film represents a creative nadir for pretty much everyone involved and manages something even Ritchie usually avoids: boredom.

Ortalama ve üstü bir yapım. Daha iyi olabilirmiş ama bu hali de iyiydi. Gideri var...

A clever, tricky antihero flick. But it’s clunky and disjointed in pacing, especially through the middle and in the “inside man” reveal at the end, which feels a bit out of character. This interferes with the clearly obvious antagonist, who also feels out of character in the final scene. And oddly the only character with any real growth is a supporting role. The movie could have delivered way more with its 2 hour run time.

Some decent action and suspense at the beginning, but a third of the way in the movie starts treating the audience as complete morons, spelling every backstory beat out letter by boring letter, and believability unravels as glorified security guards for insurance purposes make ridiculous decisions to die to protect money while robbers decide to focus on anything other than robbing. It tries desperately to be Heat, but the gunplay and heist planning and characterization doesn't square up. Instead it winds up being more like Taken, with a better protagonist but just as ludicrous in the end -- actually, worse than Taken in some regards, because the ending isn't as satisfying.

Doesn’t quite know what it is. Borrowed edgy shots sprinkled on a terrible action movie.
