What a relief it is to discover that Wayne's World 2 is just as hilarious as last year's original, which was one of the best, most distinctive American comedies in years. [10 Dec 1993, p.F14]

It also made me laugh harder than anything I’ve seen at the movies this year.

Wayne and Garth are back, this time trying to organize a rock festival with help from the spirit of Jim Morrison! As with the first movie the plot isn’t really that important, acting primarily as a device to set up a series of comic sketches. Fortunately this sequel yet again features some brilliantly funny moments and does not disappoint.

Many sequels out there do not live up to the original film, but this one runs right along side the original Wayne's World. Both are very fun and funny with ridiculous and quirky humor throughout. This film does run a lot of similar tropes as the original, but with a completely different main plot. However, that can be forgiven if you learn about the making of this film.

Surjik's skewed Canadian vision keeps WW2 from descending to the level of Thanksgiving leftovers, with frequent touches of out-and-out weirdness and the sure-footed knowledge that this is a comedy, period. It doesn't have to try to be anything more, and that, I think, is why it works so very well.

Carvey is such a lovable doofus and Myers such a well-intentioned naif that it's hard to get down on them, especially considering that the heirs to their niche in pop iconography are Beavis and Butt-head.

A TV skit is a TV skit, and Wayne's World 2 is evidence of a neat idea stretched well beyond its means. [10 Dec 1993, p.G5]

The best moments in Wayne's World 2 have been done before and better - a kung fu movie spoof and a running gag based on Oliver Stone's The Doors (which was unintentionally funnier). Surjik trots out a slew of star cameos and cinema salutes, but without the verve of Hot Shots!, Fatal Instinct or Wayne's World itself. [10 Dec 1993, p.6]

The things that made "Wayne's World" work at all - freshness, spontaneity - are missing from this losing sequel. [10 Dec 1993, p.3F]

This is a fun 90s mess of a comedy. It feels like some random sketch comedy bits inserted into a barebones outing centered around waynes attempt to put on a rock concert. Sadly most of the jokes haven't aged well and the films pacing is uneven as a result. Nonetheless if you're a fan of the cast there's enjoyment to be found here even in 2023! Its clear this was a cash in due to success of the original.

Clear cash grab because of the success of the first movie okish in parts but the rest not so good.
