Tom & Jerry (2021) is a mix of cartoon and real people. It brings Tom and Jerry into a big city hotel where they cause trouble during a fancy wedding. I was excited because the original Tom & Jerry cartoon was one of my favorite shows. I loved the smart and funny scenes in the old episodes – they were just **** the movie wasn’t as fun. Some jokes were okay, but many scenes felt too simple or not very clever. Tom and Jerry still look good, but the story wasn’t strong, and I missed the fast and smart humor from the original ****’s nice to see the characters again, but I think the classic episodes are much better.

This movie is a poor excuse of a Tom and Jerry movie carried mainly by its better than usual animation for a movie of this type and the typical Tom & Jerry gags. This feels like a lazy attempt at modernizing the titular cat and mouse to appeal to iPad kids. I can only hope that a certain Tom & Jerry movie defending Twitter user doesn't positive review-bomb this movie.

The titular duo resumes their eighty-year rivalry in this weird mashup of low-grade live-action footage, clunky hand-drawn animation and unconvincing computer imagery. Ever-so-slightly modified from their classic forms, Tom and Jerry now occupy some curious alternate reality where all the world's animals are cartoon-based, most can talk, and the human population has learned to live with the occasional giant mallet attack. Vapid YouTube celebrities are still a thing in this parallel dimension, to our universal relief, which is where our main plot thread comes in: two such influencers are in town to tie the knot, in an appropriately extravagant fashion, and our cat-and-mouse combo tumbles into a spot on the periphery. There they remain, all but ignored for great swaths of the movie, while we instead focus on the watery tale of an out-of-depth wedding planner (Chloë Grace Moretz deserves a Razzie for this) and her long-suffering quest to appease a needy, entitled bride and groom. Man, it's as deep as a Hallmark movie. While they're around, the film's namesakes remain loyal to their roots - Jerry instigates everything and Tom overreacts - but all the sight gags feel stale, very few efforts are made to leverage the unique qualities of a big picture format and the Roger Rabbit wannabe footage just doesn't work. It also suffers badly for its lack of a sympathetic face: in the end, after everything they'd put me through, I just wanted to see everyone lose.

Tom and Jerry may not have the most focus in the movie, but they are the best characters, and this is the best movie

Inoffensive, mildly entertaining but also unremarkable, bland and with the two stars as the support of rather by-the-book characters.

A Decent Enough Movie To Bring Back Tom And Jerry In The Big Screen But Sometimes Improved And Not Improved At The Same Time

What's the point of making these kind of movies nowadays? This looks like the Smurfs from 2011, which was also awful movie.

Tom and Jerry was my favourite cartoon. It has so many memories with it. I watched this movie only because these characters give me nostalgic feeling. To be honest, this movie was little bit disappointing to me. The story and screenplay was too weak. The presence of tom and jerry can also not prevent this bad story and it's bad execution. There were just some scenes which they used from cartoon shorts, which were fun to watch otherwise everything went wrong for this movie. Some people will say that this movie is for children so we need not to strictly review this movie. But even after being movie for young ones, story and execution needs to be good. Nothing went right for this movie. It only passed in giving nostalgic feeling to those who watched this cartoon when they were young. Overall, this movie is just for silly entertainment. Would not recommend this, instead watch cartoon shorts which will entertain you thousand times more than this.

Well, at least they don't talk and they don't look realistic. The CGI is OK but the story and characters are ****. Mostly unfunny and akward to watch. It's not a Tom and Jerry movie, it's a lame 2000's rom-com with Tom and Jerry in it. Just stick with the 40's cartoons.

A film based on one of the most popular cartoon couples that has performed well visually but has a very repetitive and awful story. It is clear that the creators had no idea to tell the story!

God Awful, Its So Bad I Can Watch Mortal Kombat Annihilation And Think its A little Bit Good Tom And Jerry Is So Boring And The Story Is Awful

Um, where do I begin, this is probably one of the worst films I have ever seen, and I watched The Rise of Skywalker. The film is only catering to the toddlers who only find fart and poop jokes funny. I laughed zero times in this entire movies. Just don't spend your time on this one.

I'm a fan of tom & jerry cartoons from my childhood.This movie put me in a neutral **** so good not so ****'s just a average film.I have enjoyed Chloë Grace Moretz & Michael Peña's acting in this **** can skip this you will not miss something **** if you are a die hard tom & jerry fan go for it.

Kind of a insult to Tom and Jerry, just a unfunny, mess. I do not recommend this at all. **** really **** bad. The animation is good though.

This is probably one of the most underwhelming, lazy, and played-out movies I've seen in my life (and trust me there are a lot of them). The ANIMATION: it's amazing, I can't lie, the squash and stretch of the 3D models, and how many techniques that are known to be used in 2D animation are actually shown to work in 3D, and it's great, the character is expressive and full of life, the only problem is that it doesn't mesh too well with the real-life actors, the animated characters react really well with the environment (for the MOST part), but the acting is pretty mediocre which causes some scenes to look really awkward, Chloe G. Moretz (Kayla) does an incredibly **** job, there are scenes where she doesn't act accordingly to the characters, an example is when the Preeta's cat jumps on her waist, where she literally takes 2 ENTIRE SECONDS to use her hand to hold the cat, and it doesn't look very good, or in the scene where fish are sold, some scenes look really gross when people are holding the fish, anyways. TEH MUSICA: It's fine, just doesn't suit tom and jerry too much, sometimes it's a bit ear-grading but some of it is catchy. The PLOT: I would honestly like to meet the people who made the plot of the movie, especially in the small details, something that I personally do not like in this movie is that there are way too many references to modern technology, especially modern-day apps because it's a complete insult to Tom and Jerry, as it's a timeless classic in cartoons, and all of these producers thinking that people will like the movie because we have references to Tik-Tok and Instagram, it's all technology fatigue when I want to watch a movie, I want to disconnect from all the technology and go to something that is timeless, something that will never age because it's popular technology doesn't mean that it's beloved, that's why it's really awkward when Tom does the floss or when some of the animal characters say things like "o.m.g.!" or "L O L!!" or when some of the real life actors or even animated ones are shown to whip out their phones to check Instagram, it makes me want to die on the inside, it's the same feeling I get when I watch the 2 scenes where Sonic flosses for 5 seconds in each of them. The movie has terrible acting (except for the hotel manager he's great!), amazing animation, but **** plot and direction... Also does anyone know why some character speak and some don't, it's never explained honestly and when they speak, do the humans understand? (yes this movie has MANY plot holes)

I would give this a 24% This is just horrible at parts you can tell there is a green screen some of the new added charter colors are obnoxious, most animated movies you want it for kids and adults well this is just aiming for kids and still it has no real solid story.

A little worse than I was expecting. Animation is beautiful. Not that I expect a great story from Tom and Jerry, but it was almost non-existent. Acting was ok, but was hurt by the lack of quality writing.

This movie I believe is a Really good movie I did not what to feel coming in I never seen the show. When I saw this movie I was laughing having a great time I even as the plot not a lot of people do for some reason the animation is amazing all around I give Tom And Jerry An A

If you want to watch stupid movie without any logic, go for it. As many pointed before... it's painfully hollow. Misusing Tom & Jerry for quick buck is a sin. Dumb boring movie.

I think we can all agree this isn't a movie we're expecting, neither is this a superb movie, but I'd say it is not that bad. I think the story is pretty cliché, but I feel that the slapstick here by the cat and mouse duo here did make me laugh. Although their slapstick is kinda short-lived, it really made me happy. The acting from the real life actors and actresses aren't the best too, but I felt they were decent enough to make me enjoy the movie. Overall, not a very fantastic movie, but to me I think this is an okay movie.

The essence is there, the nostalgia too, and that's why it's fine. Tom and Jerry, welcome back.

It's slapstick comedy, and of a pitiful, impractical and unmistakably flawed level. Is theater of the absurd but in the worst possible way. A dumb make believe plot that not only feels irrelevant, it feels stupid. Maybe I'm too old, too cynical and bitter, but I think even actual kids under 8 will have a hard time enjoying it. We're trying to save movie theaters, but with this level, people will not take the risk of going back. Tom & Jerry was completely made to get lost in the streaming ocean, and die quietly there.

The movie suffers the same problem these cartoon live action crossovers have, in that its not really about tom and jerry but its about these people planning a wedding in a hotel, and its all awful, not even tom and Jerrys action packed hijinks can save this movie, even that's still subpar compared than what we've seen before.

Movie wasn't even about tom and Jerry. What was the point of making this movie?

I used to watch a lot of Tom and Jerry as a kid. Tom and Jerry just hitting each other a lot were surprisingly entertaining when I was a kid. When I heard they were making a live-action movie with Tom and Jerry, I just thought in my head that they are somehow going to ruin it. The premise is "A legendary rivalry re-emerges when Jerry moves into New York City's finest hotel on the eve of the wedding of the century, forcing the desperate event planner to hire Tom to get rid of him. As mayhem ensues, the escalating cat-and-mouse battle soon threatens to destroy her career, the wedding, and possibly the hotel itself". So did the director, Tim Story, succeed in retaining the spirit of Tom and Jerry or completely ruin it? The thing I did enjoy about Tom and Jerry (2021) is that Tom and Jerry's antics are pretty entertaining. Tom trying to find ways to take down Jerry while Jerry outsmarts him are still funny to watch even after all these years. I also enjoyed that all the animals in this universe are animated which is an interesting idea and visually it looks all right. I don't mind the 3D look with a vintage 2D finish design of the animals including Tom and Jerry. They look great in the movie and it has a modern feel to it. The human actors are all adequate as well. Unfortunately, that's all I enjoyed the movie. Tom and Jerry are barely in the movie as they are being overshadowed by a plot involving a wedding and some human characters. It would be slightly acceptable if the human characters were good but they are all unlikeable. Kayla (Chloë Grace Moretz) is the protagonist who is introduced by lying and manipulating a person into not applying for a job in the hotel and then steals her resume. Yeah, it's clear they are trying to set an arc of redemption for her but she is the protagonist and you need them to be likeable in some way and this is not it. It also gives a terrible message to kids that they should lie their way to the top. There is also a sort of human antagonist in Terence (Michael Peña) who is the hotel's event manager and antagonistic against Kayla. He does some terrible things near the end of the movie but he still comes out with barely any repercussions for his action. There are some other supporting characters with their quirks but they are all so one-note and over the top that it's cringy. There is a story involving the wedding of Ben (Colin Jost) and Preeta (Pallavi Sharda) with Ben being too bombastic with the wedding and not listening to Preeta is uninteresting. It's so easily predictable as they hit all the cliché beats while taking the audience and kids away from what they care about, Tom and Jerry. While Tom and Jerry's humour is fun, human humour is atrociously bad. None of it lands and they keep going for this cringe humour which doesn't work. I don't remember laughing at any of the comedy with the human characters whatsoever. Additionally, there are way too many pop and rap songs in here that just doesn't fit with Tom and Jerry and it makes me wish they used the classic orchestral and trumpet style of the cartoon. Overall, the director did not succeed in making a good Tom and Jerry movie. However, there is some enjoyment to be had and if you have kids then I can see them enjoying this for 90 minutes. I just wished that the director kept the focus more around the titled characters instead of trying to fill it up with some unnecessary melodrama. Hopefully, Warner Bros. gets it next time if they ever make another Tom and Jerry movie.

To give a bit of a summary of my take on the film, I would say: The animation was competent and actually great, but it stands out in a bad way. The music wasn't horrible, but it doesn't suit Tom & Jerry. The dialogue ****, and with that, so does the acting. I wouldn't even consider this a real Tom & Jerry film, for the focus isn't even on the duo. If you want a true Tom & Jerry experience, just watch the cartoon.

Definitely a great watch, stays faithful to the original Tom&Jerry style despite the human subplot and the easter eggs during the movie are fun, wish Kayla wore an overlook tie tho (not a spoiler, you can see her tie in the trailer)

Looks like we have an early entry for worst movie of 2021. The Tom and Jerry movie is far removed from its originality and humor. You can't root for CGI-characters that have nothing worthy to call out. Brash and tiresome. As for the live acting, Chloe shows her Udemy Acting Lessons 101 experience two-fold and more. her performance is underwhelming to the point of it being an insult to watch. Why?!!

Tom and Jerry is a fun-filled, slapstick, easy ride. It offers silly laughs and endearing acting. I quite enjoy Michael Peña in his role as the event manager and the animation for the animal characters was fantastic. Visually I really enjoyed this flick and while I wasn't crying with laughter I rather enjoyed an easy movie night with fun characters.

Had a great time watching with my Kids. Plot good. Pace was good. Human and animated characters are great. Really compliment each other. This movie is really greater than the sum of its parts.
