Hopefully if they make a second installment in The Tearsmith series, those behind it will dare to step a little further outside of their self-imposed genre restrictions.

The lack of surprises, the contrived nature of the conflicts that turn into love connections and the cumbersome voiced-over-to-death technique and the abandonment of the whole “tearsmith” metaphor render this potential teen tearjerker nothing to cry over.

The Tearsmith delivers a moody and emotionally charged romance with striking visuals and strong chemistry between its leads. While the plot can be confusing at times, its atmospheric style and passionate tone make it a memorable watch for fans of dark, dramatic love stories.
