As kid-friendly Christmas movies go, this one actually goes out of its way to remind what the holiday represents, which should please parents looking for something a little more sophisticated (but just barely) than the VeggieTales cartoons.

“What’s a baby going to do with Frankinsense? BIRTHday party!” Maybe they’re both right. But only very young children will find anything funnier and more entertaining in The Star than that.

Mariah Carey is extremely talented and capable of elevating every work she is a part of.

O filme até que é bom, Mariah Carey merecia ganhar o globo de ouro com a trilha sonora, maior injustiça

Clumsy, derivative, mildly amusing and ultimately forgettable.

The movie is sincerely Christian in its outlook, while also a slapstick animal ’toon. It’s a mix that works only intermittently. But when it doesn’t pop, it thuds.

The movie delivers a modicum of magic without getting pious or gushy. It never soars, though, or burns especially bright.

Director Timothy Reckart's The Star turns the greatest story ever told into just another kids' movie.

The whole film pinballs between reverence and poop jokes in a way that feels far more blasphemous than anything Monty Python ever did, while a cloying R&B soundtrack further cheapens the tone. Unless you have tiny religious children, it’s probably best to avoid it.

Just watched this with the kids, "The Star" A really underrated movie about the journey Mother Mary had since the day The Angel visited her. It is funny, touching. The songs are great. It is a good movie to watch with the whole family this Christmas. This movie made me appreciate Mother Mary even more while at the same time get the magical feeling about Jesus Christ birth

This has some okay animation and is good hearted but is essentially a very average film.

I find The Star super offensive. They warp the story of the Messiah and add cringy humor to this film. The animation is horrible and the plot line made me want to punch myself in the face over and over again. I hate this movie so much! It’s the worst film I’ve seen in a while. I give it a 2 because they tried, but this film deserves a 0.

It stinks! would say Jay Sherman if he was real. The Star is every tipical classic animated film with the formula of "Take place in an importannt event of the past" whit "What really happen" whit annoying talking animals. That goes whit most of the characters that are a cast of unfunny and unintresting characters, whit an boring plot and unfunny humor and animal slapstick. Sure, the animation and voice acting isn't bad, but it still not enough to say is your tipical movie cartoon whit animals. I'm not a religious person but if i was, i would stay hate this movie. There's no reason to nominee this to the Golden Globes or even for Best Song. And there's no way that Sony can make more money.
