Will Ferrell carries his usual assortment of zany costars and ad-libbed punchlines to the NASCAR track. As the titular Ricky Bobby, a redneck racing hero, Ferrell dominates the competition until a slimy French F-1 star joins up and injects a bit of chaos into his perfect world. Making matters worse, Ricky’s longtime running buddy spots opportunity in his pal’s breakdown and chooses that moment to move in on his wife, his fortune and his coveted lead racing position. The plot is as narrow and rudimentary as any of Ferrell’s joints, par for the course at this stage, but Talladega Nights’ real sizzle is in its rapid-fire stupidity and ridiculous cast of supporting players. This is actually Ferrell’s first pairing with John C. Reilly, but their chemistry is so easy and natural that it feels like they’ve been working together for years. Sacha Baron Cohen is equally well-suited as the despicable Frenchman Jean Girard, an arrogant fish out of water who dares to bring his husband(!!!) to the racers’ favorite watering hole. Michael Clarke Duncan delivers hilarity of a slightly different sort in his straight role as Ricky’s oft-frustrated crew chief. And newcomers Houston Tumlin and Grayson Russell, who play the driver’s spoiled, obnoxious young sons, Walker and Texas Ranger, might just be the best of the bunch. They definitely get some of the funniest lines. Nobody should be surprised by what we have here. It’s a bunch of improv comedians doing improv comedy together, wearing silly brand-stamped jumpsuits and trying their hardest not to break character while the cameras are rolling. Nothing really means anything, the announcers even say as much after the climactic race, but it made me laugh. Often. That’s plenty good enough for a relaxed Friday night.

One of the few comedies that I consider perfect. Definitely is my type of humor with such stupidly hilarious jokes.

At what was the height of his career (despite him doing better after), Will Ferrell perfected his patented take on the legendary Saturday night live format: humor based on sketch comedy. Every moment is golden in this movie, able to keep viewers glued to their seats wondering what crazy antic will happen next. Despite its tongue-in-cheek, there is true American pride in this film. It even contains undeniable evidence of the American spirit in the form of a cast with Southern accents. The identity it portrays is still rather accurate, and that’s okay, because we are human with flaws and faults and a lot of beauty. The dad jokes, slapstick, farce and wordplay by themselves engender a smirk or two, but together result in a freight train of fun that makes “Talladega Nights: the Ballad of Ricky Bobby” a worthy evening’s entertainment, and one you can easily return to with close friends.

Dear 8 pound, sweet baby Jesus. Love this movie another favorite of mine. No matter how many times I've seen this movie, I laugh every time. I'm wearing my pee pants right now lol. Love it.

I strongly recommend watching the original theatrical PG-13 version of Talladega Nights that doesn't have the gross unfunny scenes of the Unrated version. The PG-13 version of this movie is easily Will Ferrel's finest and funniest sports comedy ever made. It is full of brilliant and smart parody and satire of and about NASCAR, and a laugh riot to watch all the way through.

When it comes to Will Ferrell, you stick him in any movie and I'm going to laugh my ass off. Even in his dramatic turn with Stranger Than Fiction, I laughed my ass off. I want to be Will Ferrell when I grow up.

Giving it a first watch recently, I completely get it now why its such a loved comedy. Will is hysterical, period.

One More Lap. Talladega Nights: The Ballad Of Ricky Bobby McKay drives the energy of the film with his witty improv comic skills and impenetrable confidence in his silliness. I have barely witnessed any other filmmaker speak so effervescently and with conviction on the most bourgeois discussion or detail in a film. And it is that clean crisp goofiness in his film that makes it thoroughly entertaining. He is well aware of each character's background, logistics and actions. Using that very information, he draws in most of the laughs. From pointing out the vibration of the stadium or the corruption of the ticket holders, Adam McKay; the co-writer and director, never loses the grasp over his vision. And then adding the right ingredient is Will Ferrell- the writing partner of McKay- playing the role of a childish NASCAR driver Ricky Bobby whose uncouth language; something that runs on generation, is the least bit of fun you are about to get. The real laughs are drawn in when Ferrell is set loose to improvise and run the film on his own, stripping down in the middle of a car race, series of monologues that describes inappropriate endorsements and let's face it, the good old trash talk. Speaking of which, receiving the other end of the trash talk is Sacha Baron Cohen as his rival, is hilarious while racing and also keeping himself busy with other activities at the same time. Completing this dream team is John C. Reilly as the last piece of the puzzle, who with his brotherhood issues convinces you along with Ferrell to be his friend, no matter how rude he grows to him. Talladega Nights: The Ballad Of Ricky Bobby is exactly what you would expect from these group of guys, McKay's thorough investigation on the lifestyle of these bratty drivers is a satisfying and malleable sketchy ride.

I know that movies like step brothers aren't that good honestly and they lack in a lot of areas but this is a movie that I actually feel is strong in so many areas. The characters, actors, and plot fit together so perfectly. It's not a movie to be taken too seriously but it has a plot that will still have people interested. It has so many quotable moments and it's rare that I find someone that doesn't know the main quotes. This movie is one of my favorites and one that many of my friends and I look forward to watching together every chance we get. It's for an audience of people like college students and that's ok. We still find it funny years after it released.

This movie is... bad. Almost every character is low-down, stupid, anger-inducing piece of trash. In an attempt to avoid Disney life lessons and good, cheesy character development, the movie makes the characters set-in-stone horrible people who don't learn anything. The main character, his wife, his best friend, and his kids are all terrible in their own way, and made me want to scream and physically hurt them. 85% of the jokes are NOT FUNNY, AT ALL. There were a few hilarious moments and lines, and the French guy was pretty hilarious, but besides these things this movie was not funny. All in all, watching this movie was a really bad experience.

Talladega nights isn't the best Will Ferrell movie ever, but its a very good mix of humor. It's a nascar movie with Will Ferrell and another openly gay driver that's his archrival. With John C. Reilly and Will Ferrell in a movie together it's always a good movie. This movie could use some work though in comparison to Step Brothers this isn't the best movie because their isn't enough humor in the movie. Instead of it being really funny it gets really weird with Will Ferrell making out with Sacha Baron Cohen at the finish line of a very controversial finish to the race haha. So this movie gives me mixed signals at times but it's an ok movie to me. I'd give this movie a 7 out of 10.

I'm not a fan of Nascar or anything like that, but this was an entertaining movie. It wasn't always funny, it was predictable and cliché and the movie was a little bit too long, but the acting was really good, it was fun and it was entertaining. It's not Will Ferrell's best movie nor is it a great comedy, but it's not bad at all.

I laughed far more than expected, but that was easy since I expected zero laughs. The majority of the jokes miss, but the ones that do hit are really funny. I am not a Will Ferrell fan and this one is no exception, though it was better than Step Brothers, but that was easy to do as well. The plot and writing and decent, but it is a comedy and the focus here is obviously on it being funny or not. It was not, on the whole, funny so the movie is bad from that angle anyways. The film, fortunately, is bad everywhere else too, though the direction from Adam McKay is okay, even if this material is beneath his skill level. Overall, Talladega Nights may be bad, but it is bolstered by a few laugh out loud moments. Tragically, the rest fall flat.

A parody on American culture and NASCAR fanatics, this film made me laugh - even when I saw most of the scenes being filmed. Funniest parts are the "Mike Honcho" and "I'm on FIRE!" scenes: Look those parts up on YouTube for a quick laugh if you've got the time.

Talladega Nights rides with no class. Ricky Bobby is successful in the way that nearly all Ferrel movies are, funny. The story is mediocre, and in some places non existent, but in the end it is a comedy movie not a work of art.

Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby is an absolute comedic romp. There is no part of this film that was founded on a proper plot structure or deeply interesting characters, but all that aside this film is down right hilarious. Ferrell and Reilly are a brilliant comedic duo, McKay flexes his directing brilliance, and the rest of the cast produces laughs on top of laughs. It is crude, rude, and unfortunate at more times that seldom. If you like Ferrell, you'll love this, and if you hate Farrell avoid at all costs. Talladega Nights has a lot to offer, not in cinematic elements, but in laughs.

One of Will Ferrell's best comedies. I laughed throughout this film and to have John C. Reilly as Ferrell's sidekick works perfectly, they playoff each other real well.

The movie is funny, and that's all that matters. It doesn't have to be clever or well written. So long as I laugh, I'll be able to recommend it. It's worth your time, no doubt.

I love motor-sports. I usually find Will Ferrell hilarious. So combining the two should've been heaven right? WRONG!!!! I didn't laugh once throughout this film I found the characters really irritating rather than endearing or amusing and I found myself having to get to the end just to see if it got better. It did improve when Amy Adams arrived in earnest in the bar talking to Ricky, but the improvement was slight and short lived. It quickly descended into corny unfunny cliches. The only reason I have given it any points at all is because of the racing scenes which were mildly entertaining if not slightly far fetched. Ugh

An unforgettably hilarious winner from Will Ferrell and Adam McKay, "Talladega Nights" represents an intelligent blend of multiple different kinds of humor.

The story is a bit sloppy but it makes up for it by being very funny. Will Ferrell is not as good as Anchorman but its got a few exciting and funny moments.

You'll rarely hear me speak these words about anything starring Will Ferrel but I gotta call it as it is... this is a genuinely funny movie. It works both as a silly comedy and as a lampooning of the ridiculous NASCAR culture. I had a great time watching this!

I didn't see this movie in theaters because I thought it looked too stupid, but when I saw it on cable I couldn't stop laughing. Great movie. I showed it to my dad and we quote it all the time. Possibly Will Ferrell's best movie yet.

I don't see why anyone would much like this, really. Most of the humor is obvious and falls flat. Maybe teenagers would enjoy it. I don't know. I thought it was boring and obnoxious. Not one of Will's shining moments.

This is one of the funniest movies I've ever watched, I still find myself laughing at this today, a must see for (older) comedy fans, a great hilarious movie.

Man becomes NASCAR legend, new French rival, breaks arm, best friend/team mate runs off with wife, returns to racing. Will Ferrell spoof of NASCAR with a very good supporting cast but not as funny as some of his other work. Sasha Baren Cohen camps it up as the OTT Jean Girard & John C Reilly is good as Ferrell's team mate. Few cameos here & funny moments but no-where near as good as Anchorman.
