The end of Strange World comes together as one would expect of a Disney offering, but there’s a sweetness to it that may move even the most committed cynic.

This was one of the best Disney movies we've seen. We especially loved the representation and the meaningful ending

Clearly, Strange World is a movie about saving the environment. It is also about the bond between father and son, and how parents must let their kids forge their own paths. Hall and Nguyen deliver these messages with the subtlety of a wrecking ball, but the excellent voice-over work plus the score by Henry Jackman make the preachiness palatable and the film fun.

Great as the people and places they explore may be, however, the relatively unimaginative story consigns this gorgeous toon to second-tier status — a notch below director Don Hall’s earlier “Big Hero 6” — instead of cracking the pantheon of Disney classics.

All of this is watchable enough, but Strange World does rather lack dynamism in the final third, especially after such a hallucinatory set-up. As the story heads towards resolution, it becomes more likely to elicit shrugs not shrieks.

It’s tough to watch a movie whose rootbound nostalgia keeps it from making good on the promise those stories made to show us something we’ve never seen before.

The film’s stumbling unoriginality, cliched characters and intended jokes that land like flops from a constipated greenhouse gassy cow, however earn every ounce of ire I can summon.

Ignore the sad, pathetic little racists, bigots and homophobes who have tried to destroy this film. If you don't agree with the messages in this film then don't watch it. If you're a good parent then you'll research any film before showing it to your kids. It's great - my kids really enjoyed it. Well done Disney.

Strange World Strange World details the story of a family of explorers journeying to an unknown world to save a plant that's pivotal to their world. The visuals shown here are lush and vibrant, and it brings an array of creatures that are different but familiar. The voice acting is also fitting. Strange World brings a story that features themes of Acceptance, the family unit, representation and environmentalism. Although Strange World is hinged on great themes, the story ultimately becomes stuffed. The characters could have gotten more development, and most resolves in the movie are achieved without effort, making them feel very opportunistic and watered down. The strange world this flick portrays is also not realised properly, as most of these creatures feel lazily sketched. Strange World may not be one of Disney's best, but it's still enjoyable. 6.5/10

I've seen plenty of Disney movies but this is more or less one of their worst projects I've seen in recent memory. Before I actually dive into the negatives however, I will say the movie looks visually great just like past Disney films and the performances are pretty good and that's pretty much all the good I have to say. Without diving into spoilers, the main character's son has a certain trait that supposedly makes him unique but the problem I have with this isn't the trait (although I have zero doubt plenty of people will) but more so how this movie doesn't explore that trait as it just feels there and that's pretty much all it goes to the point where the son could pretty much not have this trait and it wouldn't have made a difference since that trait genuanlly did not make that difference for me. Another problem for me is that the stakes pretty much don't make sense since they become firstly introduced early on and we initially don't think much about them but then the movie fasts forward into the future and when you reach the end, instead of thinking, "Wow, I can't believe that plot twist" you're instead thinking "Wait, if those stakes were there in the first place, how have they not already been a much bigger deal so much longer into the future?" it genuanelly becomes impossible to take this movies stakes seriously because if they were a threat, they would've already lost to them a long time ago. Speaking of the plot twist, it would've been a good one if we fast forwarded much LESS into the future since it simply doesn't work with how much time has passed. The movies characters are also hard to take seriously because some side characters are just there and one certain main character is initially just there and is all of a sudden the main villain without realizing it and then they sympathize with the main characters in the end pretty much making me lose all interest in this film. Overall, this movie is pretty much a good looking movie with a unique plot that is simply bad at best and is so much worse when you try to rewatch it and I do not want to see a sequel to this film.
